I saw this promotions list for the 2014 Christmas gift center to be set up at Home Depot. some stores may have it already but none close to me so I haven't seen it firsthand. Looks like a pretty large $ allowance to be included with the purchase of an upper tiered combo kit. disappointing not to see any M12 kits on this promo though.

So am I correct in reading this is supposed to go 9/26/14 thru 2/1/15? It could be a good deal but would seem to largely depend on the individual tools your store stocks.

Where/how do you find out if this is applicable to your local store?

Is this an internal HD document? Is it regional? Where did you access it?

I called my local store and the buffoon I spoke with has absolutely no idea what I'm talking about... pretty sure he doesn't know his own name either. He didn't know what "bare" tools were either, and I had to explain that to him. Imagine that.

The pricing for the kits seems to be in effect but I haven't seen anything about the credit for buying one of them.

Really wanted m12 stuff but the big m18 kit with 150 credit isn't too bad. Could probably resell the kit on eBay and use the credit for m12 stuff.

True, but nothing I'm finding is saying that the $150 credit deal is valid. I can't find anything about it online anywhere but here, and I've called several stores.

That's b/c those dates listed on that piece of paper are probably indicative of whatever quarter they're currently in...quarter 1, quarter 2, etc. etc., not necessarily effective dates of the promotion. Promotions can start up & end at any point during a specific quarter.

It is for the Christmas gift center TO BE SET UP in the Home Depot stores around the middle of October. "Buy a Combo Kit from this Row" would indicate that all the skus for one of the price brackets would be on one shelf, and all the next would be on another and so forth. If they haven't set up the holiday gift center in the store yet, you will not see this promotion. 50-100-150 Gift Center

Yeah but its interesting that the top line of the page says "starting this period: 0".

Id be interested to see the other 17 going on, if I happened to not already know about them.

Ahh OK.

Sometimes I think I should get a part time job in the tool dept at HD so I can be "in the know" :)

I think there might be more criteria than that... I called four different stores in my state, and three other stores in three other states, all about 1000 miles from here. No one knew anything about it.

Got family all over, so getting it picked up would be no big deal. I'd just like to know when and where.

I don't know if you're still waiting to purchase your tools or not but I saw at work that the gift center resets start the week of Nov.3. The 50-100-150 promo will have it's own bay but possibly on an endcap depending on store size. Unfortunately the price of the Milwaukee 2797-22 is due to go back to $399 at this time also

Hmm, so the "new lower price" sticker I see on it is only temporary? I always thought the NLPs were permanent, maybe Im wrong

Its 369 now, but eligible for the 150 towards another tool/radio/battery....even if it goes back to 399, you still net 120 but its only towards another tool/radio/battery.

The problem with my local HDs is that they dont have very much M12 Fuel stuff. I wouldnt mind buying an M18 set and using the credit towards the equivalent M12 Fuel stuff.

Nope, NLP's are not permanent, which annoys me to no end. If its a sale price, just call it a sale price. There seems to be no logic to how long they last, some are months, some are a week.

swung by theHD today and they have started setting this up. Had a big sign up but no real details, just lists the skus that work with it and the up to 150 credit. Says ask for details. Shows to be active from today thru feb 2015. And of course the 2797-22 has been back at 399 in the stores since last week I think. Now here's the bs part. I'm on HD.com right now and it has the details for the offer. They have the 2797-22 kit still at the 369 price and it says only available online. Though they clearly had a few in stock at the store. Now when I put one in the cart and go to pick something with the 150 discount it shows that nothing is in stock online. I'm guessing the site is just buggered right now or HD is just playing games with their offer at the moment.

I was told that it's going to messed up until they get the stores all set up and ready to go. The "buy online, pick up in store" is suppose to get blocked for this promotion because of quicker inventory turnover and that's why the .com is showing everything out of stock. If you notice online, they have removed most of the store skus numbers from the tools associated with the promotion and only show an internet number. pretty sure the 2797-22 is gonna go back to $399 when the bugs are fixed but I hope not

Before I got an answer that actually made sense that I posted above, this was from earlier in the day;

Please wait for an Associate to respond. Your place in Queue is '1'. Please note: some browsers will not flash or move to the foreground when an Associate responds, so check this window frequently.
You are now chatting with 'Phillip D.'
Would you like to place your order using our secure chat? Ask your chat associate for details.

Phillip D.: Welcome to the Home Depot, my name is Phillip, how may I assist you today?

me: I am wondering why the website is showing around 80 percent of the power tools as being out of stock online. How is the 2 tiered power tool promotion suppose to work if none of the second tier is available?

Phillip D.: Hi, I can take a look at a few of them to check the availability, but when we have sales and specials the items some times sell out fast. What is the model number of one of them?

me: I don't think you understand the holiday promotion. You pick one of 14 combo kit skus (12 of them are in stock) and then get 50-100-150 dollars off an additional tool but every one shows out of stock. even the corded tools

me: http://www.homedepot.com/b/Featured...Cordless-Power-Tool/Milwaukee/N-5yc1vZca8rZzv

Phillip D.: I do, but I would need the model number to look at the item. If they are out of stock then you have to wait until they are back in stock to order them. I can check on a date if you supply the model number.

Phillip D.: I am sorry, they are all out of stock. I can check on a few of them to see when they will be back in stock. But the promotion is only valid while the items are in stock.

me: there's no way all of these skus went out of stock in one day (the promotion started today) when half of them aren't even affiliated with the promotion (corded tools)

Phillip D.: I am sorry, this is the first I have seen of the promotion. I cannot call Milwuakee as they are not open right now. They are out of stock, I cant do anything at this hour.

me: also, none of the skus show the store sku any more. only the internet number. even on items that I've seen in the store hours ago. they're all missing

Phillip D.: If you can give me a model number I can check and see if it is sold in store and has a store sku.

me: Model 2797-22

Phillip D.: This is a online only item, it is not sold in stores. Under the add to cart button it says product sold online only.

me: I know what it says. I'm letting you know that all of the items are saying this even if they are sold in store. I saw it 2 hours ago. I'm letting you know the website is messed up so maybe you can let a supervisor or someone know.

Phillip D.: I have no access to store systems. According to what I have it is online only. Store inventory and online inventory are completely separate. There is nothing I can do right now. I cannot call the store or the vendor, both are closed.

Phillip D.: I can check and see if we have a date when the item should be back in stock online if you would like.

me: lol no thanks I think I can take it from here.

Phillip D.: The combo kit you gave me should be back in stock the middle of November.

Phillip D.: My pleasure. Thank you for shopping with The Home Depot. Please take a moment to complete a brief survey after clicking on the End Chat button. If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to contact us at 1-800-430-3376. Have a great day!

lol exactly. I was looking around today and I thought it might be worth it to buy a 2797 kit and use the free tool promotion to get the M18 1/2 fuel impact to go with it. For the 369 price it would be an awesome deal. For 399, meh. CPO btw has a similar promotion going on as well I noticed while digging around today. I really want some new cordless stuff as all my stuff is over a decade old and 9.6v. I think I'd rather have the M12 fuel kit with the hammer drill and impact driver and get the m18 1/2 impact kit later for automotive stuff. but the current promotion seemed like a decent deal so I've been kinda waiting it out. I was hoping to make a move this week but I guess we'll see.

but yeah Home Depots whole website thing seems like they just put everything on lock down while the promo is going on, even though its advertised as being available for online too. I guess they just don't have it sorted out yet.

yep they are. I ordered the fuel 2797-22 and m12 2496-22 for $388 before tax and some store credits I had. Free shipping too.
I would not expect the 2797-22 to stay at $369 on the website for very much longer though

arghhh. It just went up while I was in the middle of trying to decide what to do. I really think the 2797 is overkill for me. I kinda wanted the M12 fuel combo and maybe an m12 Fuel 3/8 ratchet. But I was thinking I would just go ahead and do it, the 2797 and the 2655 1/2 m18 fuel impact for 378 before taxes. I think I would have preferred the 3/8 M18 impact but it wouldnt let you add that one with the discount. So I said screw it I'll just go for it but then in the middle of adding stuff to my cart the price of the 2797 went from 369 to 399. I should have acted sooner. We knew it wasn't going to stay that price for long. Now I have to think about it again, lol. Analysis paralysis. I just think the M18 is too big for what I use my drills for. In fact I was using my dad's 18v Dewalt nicad earlier tonight and was like damn this thing is way too huge. Its an older nicad 18v xrp hammer drill. thing is a monster but I didn't have my 9.6v with me. I was just driving some 3" screws into the door frame to square their front door back up and my 9.6 would have had no problem doing that. I'm not building decks or hanging cabinets all day so really I think I just need the m12 kit and the 3/8 impact for auto work in the garage. I just wish there were deals on the m12 stuff right now. They are just as expensive or more with the m18 deals going on.

Major difference between the online version and in store is you are limited to what is on hand at that particular store, BUT items in the step 2 part aren’t designated as “in the discount level” like they are on the website. Example: You can buy the
DEWALT 20-Volt Max XR Lithium-Ion Cordless Brushless Hammer Drill and Impact Driver Combo Kit (2-Tool)
and DEWALT 20-Volt 3 Ah Max Lithium-Ion Battery (2-Pack)
and it’ll take $150 off the total. So brushless hammer, brushless impact, charger, and (4) 3Ah batteries for $318 plus tax. I don't think any one can touch that price and it won’t work on the website.

Are the step 1 item requirements the same in store? I was just at an HD but didnt check out the specifics....they have all of the cordless combos lined up in the seasonal area but I didnt see a sign for this promo.

Thinking of the combinations that we can use to maximize savings since in-store always seems to have varied pricing from the web (and even from store to store)

yes. step 1 is a choice of 14 skus. (5 skus for the $50off, 5 for the $100off, and 4 for the $150off ). The pricing shouldn't vary too much from the web as long as the zip codes are the same but it does happen sometimes.

Either way just get the best deal. You'll be happy with either. Although I was working on a ladder 17' up yesterday & glad to have the lighter, compact M12. But in the shop I prefer the M18.

Local HD has all their deals set up in store today - I gotta say not one of them piqued my interest. I'm going to be saving a lot of money this year based on the "deals" released so far.

Good selection of flashlights i'd like to try, bought some last year and they've held up nice. I checked out both Home Depot and Lowe's Black Friday set up and Lowe's had a horrible selection, nothing looked good.

Its been that way for a LONG time now. BF hasnt been very BF-ish for the past 6 or 7 years and I dont see it getting any better.

A good shopper will end up with better deals throughout the year without the "joy" of dealing with BF hub-bub.

Say I buy the m18 kit for $199 does the $50 off have to be from a select set of tools or can I use it on the xc m12 double pack of batteries?

oops I meant 3/8 impact. But yeah, honestly I'm not doing much heavy duty stuff to really warrant the 18v. I've been fine with my old 9.6v drills with maybe a couple exceptions over the years, and even then they did the job, just took some time. That being said I think I might end up picking up a refurb fuel m18 impact driver from cpo with the compact batteries and maybe the cheap rigid 12v drill/impact combo for around the house stuff. Even the Rigid 12v should be head and shoulders above my old makita and dewalt 9.6v drills from 15 years ago.

They have all the holiday stuff out. Nothing really interesting a lot of the "flower style" ratcheting spline stuff (barf) but they have a set (2 pair) of husky pistol grip pliers for 10 bucks; I'll probably pick those up eventually.
