Stopped by one of the local shops today, found an older MAC side box just put out for sale...

Not sure of the exact model, or age, but is in decent shape....

All of the drawers had tools, but the majority of them were cheap foreign tools and a few raised panel Craftsman wrenches...

Even came with its own love letter, folded up in one of the drawers...

Coolest finds in the box were a Snap On stubby screwdriver...

..and an older Snap On GM-70-M 1/4" drive ratchet.

Can't quite make out the date code for certain, but I am thinking its from either '58 or '68.

...and a mint/like new Snap On dial torque wrench

Total cost for everything pictured was an even $150...couldn't hardly get the cash out fast enough! ;)

The side box was made by Beach in Canada, same as the older Husky models. Several threads about them here. Nice find and great price.

This score is pretty rad but we do have a thread dedicated to this type of thing-check out the 2014 Garage Sale thread. Although this is a good enough score if I where you I would be tempted to post this in it's own thread. You ****!

Can anyone make out the date code on the Snap On ratchet? Looks like a squared off "8", but I am not sure....

Great thing about the MAC side box, is it should work with my HF 44" box!

It's been a long time since I saw anything from TG&Y.

I bought an old battery charger a few months ago just because it was an old OTASCO brand.

I've been considering the HF side box, but this seems to be a much better deal... ;)

I was able to get the MAC box cleaned out today, and found mostly import tools....even found some tools made in Sri-Lanka! Did end up with a few Craftsman wrenches, and even a Snap On 3/8" wrench, and a few SK & CMan sockets.

Now, I just need to give the outside a nice coat of paint and hang it on the HF box!

Forget the box, forget the tools, in the 2nd drawer picture, there is a product that promises to kill stink bugs! What is it? We must have it! I'm tired of battling those devil bugs!

Just kidding, nice score.

It was just a tease....no actual stink bug killer, just the card. I guess the remedy was the only thing kept by the original owner!

Good deal, the torque meter really made the deal. The side box looks like it will clean up well. Is it all friction slides?

Yes, the slides are all friction. I sprayed them with a little WD-40, but haven't had time to do much else. What is the best way to go about cleaning/lubing friction slides?

I had an old Craftsman friction slide box that hadn't been tended to in years, they were difficult to pull and would snag as you pulled the drawers. I was cleaning the box up to sell so I sprayed them down with WD-40 and gave them a good rub to clean them, then just coated them with white lithium grease. Can't attest to how well it is holding up since I sold the box, but it felt better than brand new. I've heard paraffin wax is good for friction slides as well.
