As Bill Withers said, IT'S A LOVELY DAY!!!
Two sales planned this morning, it was raining and 30's so the first one canceled, second was a Regionally Featured estate sale listed as "EPIC"....They were right, understatement if you ask me. It was a doctor's residence, older couple and everything was vintage and older. It started at 9, I got there about 10 and walzed right in. Making my way through the mansion towards the shed out back, I saw lots of curiosities, each room was packed at least waist deep in treasures, some deeper!! I go outside to find only a few large power tools, pool furniture etc then I see a tarp that's covering an interestingly familiar shape. I quickly find a worker and have them mark it as sold, more on that in pic #3.
As I make my way back into the house, there are thousands and thousands of old hard back books in several different rooms, I found this old Anatomy book for $2 and scooped it up. Making my way torwards the garage inside, I see lots of medical cabinets, most are marked sold but there was a medial cart with lots of medical tools on it, I picked out the Kastoff ratchet and adaptor for $2 then giggled at the speculum before moving to the garage.
In the garage, tools are marked high and not too many that I would buy anyway. Only one cool box, a Craftsman carry two drawer with the V logo marked $40 so I pass. There was a lot of hand tools in a dresser, LOTS of Bell System(Jeff) things like Stanley screwdrivers etc, they were marked $2-4 each so I only got one pair of $4 B.S. Crescent linesman in great shape, then found the old Texaco lighter fluid for $1.
My second favorite find of the day was this cool Skull ashtray, there was a pair but at $15, I only took one. Hoping the other will be there on 50% off day I'll snag it too.
Finally, my favorite find of the day and one that has been on my wish list for as long as I can remember, a Delta band saw with the slow speed attachment for metal cutting!!! This was the tarp covered item mentioned earlier, I could not believe it was marked only $75 and not sold yet!!! Baby is home safe, works great and has the retirement light, all original, nothing missing or damaged, I am in heaven right now!!!
Spent $99 and plan on going back Sat and/or Sunday for 25 and 50% off days. There was not a lot of tools, but there were some Plumb flare wrenches and a few other items that I want if they are still there on discount day.
Happy sailing this weekend guys, hope you get lucky as I feel I did!!
