Hi guys, Since I've enjoyed looking at everyone else's builds here while in the planning/dreaming stages of my shop, I figured I'd add mine to the site now that it's nearing completion.

To start with let me say that I had a tough time deciding between going stick or pole.

Really wanted the shop to be 42x60 and a pole barn was the only way the county would let me go that big, (without hiring an architect anyway).

Since deed restrictions prohibit the use of metal siding, I would've had to use vinyl or wood siding on the pole barn. With that, it ended up being cheaper to go stick built with materials that matched my house than it would be to have a pole barn erected with vinyl siding and a metal roof.:headscrat The downside is I had to build it smaller to satisfy the county.

Sooo............. that's how I ended up going with a Stick Built 36x50x12, 6/12 roof pitch.

Here it is :)

The fancy drawing I submitted to the county to get my permit. :lol_hitti

Went ahead and changed out the top panels on the attached garage doors to look similar to the new shop.

That's about it for now, hope to have my wiring finished in the next day or two. Still undecided on how I'm gonna finish the interior.

Looks fantastic! Why the change in ceiling height? Are you going to put in a lift?

I probably could've fit a lift in even without the scissor trusses. I'm 2" short of 12' at the rear of the shop and exactly 12' at the front (slab is pitched 2" towards the front). With the scissor trusses I have 16 1/2' to the peak in the center.

I used standard trusses in the first 16' of the shop. I felt like the area above the door tracks would just be wasted space and the standard trusses let me install a window on the front gable that's the same size as the one on the attached garage, they also give me a little extra overhead storage space.

Main reason for the ceiling height is because I wanted the ability to install a commercial paint booth in the rear of the shop at some point. Looking more and more like a 9' tall homebuilt sheetrocked paint booth with loft storage above it is the route I'm gonna go for now.

I did make two 8" deep pockets in the slab, centered on the rear roll up door, so I would have a little extra meat there in case I decide to go with a 2 post lift in the future.

For now I'll keep using the mid-rise unit that I brought with me from my old shop.
