That may be true, but wasting money is anyone's right. It's not anyone else's place to say that someone "has no business" having anything. Certainly a professional photographer is not going to tell you that you have no business owning photoshop, because it may be a waste of money to you. I don't go around telling 75% percent of the owners on the road that they have no business owning a diesel f-350 (though I'd like to), and I certainly don't expect an logger to come tell me that I have no business owning Stihl chainsaws. Again, you may feel that someone is wasting money, but it's a free country (still... kinda??).

I said multiple times in this thread that people have the right to seek out the products if they want them. What they don't have the right to do is expect a company to change their entire business model to cater to them, especially if they are not the person the company targets.

That's not really what you said though.

Anyway, this is off topic, so let's just resume the conversation before we derail this thread further.

Unless these tools are used, I find almost every Snap-on tool on eBay is actually higher than even the MSRP on Snapon.com.

you must not be much of an ebay searcher, I have a rule for myself that I will not pay over 50% of MSRP for new Snap-On, nor more than 35% on used, and I am able to find far more Snap-On tools that fit that those criteria than I can buy in any given week, and most SO tools I buy end up being new.

Though I will admit that deep searching on ebay is a skill, just like changing a timing belt!

Just because you think you have searched on ebay and found all 10 of a particular tool for sale, there could be 20 others you have failed to find! - It took me years to learn this!

I am quite avid with eBay, I would like maybe an example from an item you are not interested in pursuing. I find that people make a lot of money by upcharging on SO tools because most people do not bother to actually check the price from SO site.

I agree with sk on this one, I rarely find any deals on snap-on stuff on ebay. I won't say there aren't deals to be had, just rare.

I did one time find a set of 1/4 metric sockets with a couple extensions on a matco socket rail. It was at like $52 and I guy I work with was looking over my shoulder. I said "it'll go up, just watch. I wasn't going to bother bidding, so he asked me to put a bid in for $60 for him. He actually ended up getting it for like $57... with my account! I was pissed. I kept by my word and let him have it at that price, but I sure learned a lesson. It was easily over $200 in tools.

ok, I just went to the Snap On web site, got the part number for 6 point deep socket set, a very commonly purchased item, so you wouldn't think I was showing weird special cases - Snap-On part number is 212SFSMY - MSRP $269 (truck price)

the Snap catalog entry and price is shown here:
hbuy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?item_ID=630559&group_ID=674837

now check out these recent ebay sales, all NEW! (and some even included a $15 magnetic holder, which makes the MSRP really $284)

63% off MSRP

61% off MSRP

60% off MSRP

58% off MSRP

56% off MSRP

I can keep going, but I think you get the point. ;)
