Just a quickie follow up to advise that I got the new Phoenix Specialty Coatings 2015 Powder **** Wall Calendar designed and ordered late last night. Since the printing place doesn't take paypal (!!!! who doesn't take paypal these days??? grrrrrr!!!), I was only able to order 12 wall calendars to start and the deal wasn't as good as I was hoping it would be. Sales of this first batch will determine how many more I can get ... and I have the feeling it will only be a few at a time. Once I've got a sample in hand I'll post up a separate announcement thread with a preview, cost and ordering information. (Just like the earlier 2013 Garage Calendars, these are being done only because people ask for them and the project is not being undertaken for profit. As long as the printing cost and postage are covered that's what's most important to me.)

Your support on this is overwhelming already and I really appreciate it! You guys ROCK!!! :D

Repaired the exhaust on the Subaru. The flange had separated from the front of the resonator pipe just where it joins to the cat converter pipe. Welded the flange back on and welded some patches over some cracks in the pipe (found lots of muffler putty filling those cracks). Not the neatest welding job but the but the state of the exhaust indicates to me that I'll be fitting a new exhaust in the spring, so the crappy repair will do until then.

Replaced the front pads. It appears that the previous owner had half done the front pad replacement. I found nearly new pads on the right hand side and old worn out pads on the left hand side. Supposedly he was a mechanic, but everything he appears to have touched was only half done. I wonder why he couldn't get a job locally and was doing a FIFO job in the Alberta oil fields. When I replaced the rear pads a few months ago, I found the same thing ... new pads on the left hand side/old pads on the right.

Fitted the winter wheels and tires.

My grandson and I went to my shop today, he handed me pieces of wood for the wood stove. We walked around the Oval track, and checked a part number for a rebuild kit to a hydraulic pump.

I finally replaced the defective arc fault circuit interrupter breaker in the sub-panel in my garage with one that does not trip every freaking time I turn on the lights in my office and family room simultaneously, plunging half my house into darkness. First time I ever worked on the panel, and even with the thing totally de-energized, the pucker factor was still very high. All you electricians are nutters.

Randy, my ace metal man and painter continued his amazing paint prep on my 1931 Model A coupe hot rod project. He assures me we will be ready for primer tomorrow afternoon. I worked on the body wood kit installation. Most of it is in but I am still working on the quarter and side window surrounds.

Serviced the wife's Altima and rotated the tires. Vacummed it and gave her a bath. Just so she could get rained on today.:headscrat

I also went to adjust the toggle clamp on my spare tire carrier on my Jeep and the damn U-bolt/strap broke. I had to machine some stainless steel coupling nuts to correct the condition as I didn't want to wire it closed to drive it to work today.

Machined coupling nuts threaded on and ready to reinstall.

Installed, adjusted and ready to go to work.

All in all a pretty productive night, even with the unexpected lathe work.

Installed a retractable extension cord. Lowes Bayco. It is great but realize 30 feet is not very far. It will be great in the garage but wont get very far out of the garage. One of those things I have always wanted.

Replaced the scraper bar and belt on my snow blower. I also did some minor reorganization of my tool box with some of my late father's tools I picked up while at home over Thanksgiving. I realized that I need to get another tool box for all of my sockets (which is still expanding) and wrenches. Things are getting a bit crowded.

We finished up my brothers Monte Carlo so he swapped it out for my wagon so we can get started on installing the powertrain in that.

Finally poured the lean-to 56 X16. Rear 16 x 16 is going to be a tool room to get all the stuff near the walls of the 40 X 60 garage. welders, drill press, lathe, jacks, trans jack, parts bins, nut & bolt collection, toolboxes etc etc will be moved there, plenty of shelves. It will also be a clean room for engine assembly. the front section will be parking for my '29 model A pickup & '29 Coupe and other stuff.

What's wrong with the Ford ******?

Mike.

I got in it one morning to go to work and it had no forward or reverse engagement. Ripped the pan off after the pressures looked good and to my surprise it didn't look to bad after 80k miles of abuse. So ill tear it down and see what we find

Made some aluminum brackets and picked up a nickel plated closet rod at HD to put this together. Then installed under my new $99 Gladiator cabinet.

Banged out a couple of "need to get around to that..." projects...

Added and stained a shelf to the bottom of my tumbler..

The staining of the tumbler shelf led to a "lets stain the bench top" moment..

Threw together a small bracket to hold my pipe clamps..

I also had this vice I got for free because the "handle kept falling off."

So, I fixed that..

I came back today to unload bunch of crating from a generator housing, loaded a 55 gallon barrel of water to go wash out a radiator in one around 11:00. I got sent to another job on the way to that job and just got back home. I walked in the shop to check FB, e-mail and GJ and now I'm wondering why the heck am I working a regular job when I have to pay someone to do what I now don't have time to do anymore? I left at 06:30 and got back home at 21:00. I still need to finish plumbing the heater and finish the wiring to the Taylor heater.

Finally pulled the zero turn out of the garage with the RV antifreeze in the tires. Made a great improvement on traction. Each tire weighs right at 100 pounds on a bathroom scale. She'll tote the front wheels but barely spins a tire. Maybe I won't tear the yard up so much now.

Nice job. I know what you mean about being able to open the blade easier. I recently did the same thing to mine, but I used mini zip ties.
I thought a out it but paracord is a little smoother.

I'm just worried that the paracord will get wet and hold moisture on the blade long enough to rust.

They make an add-able thumb flip but it is built for buck 110 width. So the knob on a Leatherman might grab everything you slide it into.

I also contacted my local Laser Engraver. It would cost 35 bucks and 5 day turnaround for my name engraved on the handle, and 40 bucks for my name on the blade.

Today I emptied the solvent drum under my parts washer, scooped out all the sludge (1" or more), cleaned out the barrel, replaced the filter (I use a spin-on diesel filter), refilled with saved solvent (which I strained first) plus ten gallons of new (at $9.10 per gallon!!!), and put it back into service.

Good for another few years again.

Nothing huge, just cleaned up and put everything back into place. Getting ready for a timing belt change and regular maintenance on the GFs VW Golf TDI (Rabbit in the US) tomorrow. Also took a few measurements to rearrange my compressor and fridge. Might do that saturday to check out if its better than what I have right now.

Over the course of the Thanksgiving week off (Vacation, Holiday), I dropped 3x 20 amp circuits to my basement shop, two specifically for the lighting. One was to relieve a circuit "on the edge"..

Nothing spectacular, but a lot of work....

It's been bodywork and Hemi Orange this week. I don't have a full run of Powder **** to share yet, but some really old and well used (i.e., beat all to hell) tall script Edelbrocks got a couple more decades of life outta the deal. :D

I've also been really sick of my favorite radio station fading out now that it's getting colder (it comes in fine when the doors are open), and replacing the hand me down so-called stereo from the 80s has been on the To Do List for awhile now. Crutchfield had a good sale going so the shop can now liven up the whole neighborhood! I've been totally digging some CDs I haven't been able to listen or shake my azz to in ages ... JP's Screamin' For Vengeance, Dream Theatre, Satriani, Steve Vai. Every time Billy comes in the shop he grabs the remote and turns it down. I grab it as soon as he walks back out and turn it back UP. If it's too loud, you're too old. :D

New blank canvas pole barn garage. I am in the process of doing a ton of stuff in my garage.

Here are the first 2 of 10 LED flood lights and the workbench I got done. Hoping to get the other 8 floodlights in and many other things to get done this weekend.

As my eyes get older... I need all that light (and glasses, and magnifying devices, more patience, etc..etc.. ) :eyecrazy:!

I think that's some nice lighting. People don't realize it but the surrounding make a huge difference in the ambient light. When you have white walls and such it will reflect a lot more light, but when it's a lot of dark stuff it just ***** it all into a black hole.

You can never have too much light!

Radiator cap, hoses, coolant, and thermostat on the minivan. I love the van, I hate working on a transverse mounted V6 (but not bad compared to my moms sideways Caddy V8).

Just got up my LED floodlights. Looks great and gives off a tremendous amount of light for only 30 watts per unit. 10 floodlights controlled by wireless remote divided up into separate bay controls.
