Great pics and love your story!
Ok some interior photo's, the last pic of the build shots was 1985 I have no specific interior photo's until last year, I have some, but they show cars that I was building during that period and I want to include them later when I show you the cars. Sorry for the poor photos I only have a 5 mp phone camera
Last year one heck of a muddle
Moved a few things around to get to the cupboards and work bench.
Mismatched cupboards open shelves under bench.
Made doors for bench and matched up cupboard doors.
Undecided on what color to paint them any suggestions, Red, blue,black, or white?
Last weekend, needed to get car out of back shop so had another clear up, or should I say rearrange muddles.
The back shop is about 14' by 24' I built it as a spray shop, at those dimensions I was able to get my Mustang in and be able to open both doors, (the one in the build photos). The cupboards were installed when we started our canvas business.
Been doing some more muddle moving in the front shop today I'll take some photos tomorrow and post them.

Yes you are both right, I built it back in '98 '99 for two friends ( brothers ) It's a National Hotrod, used on oval tracks. They did a bit of full track racing with it but because I built it with staggered suspension for the ovals it didn't like turning left, ( we race clockwise ovals over here ). It's in for suspension mount mods so it will go left and right. It's not the first race car I have built for them, it's the fourth.
I am going to post about my builds and restorations soon, I built my first proper Hot Rod a Model B back in 1967/8.

Last weekend it was a pain having to move the Mustang to get the race car out of the back shop. The weekend before I had taken the rear axle out and there is no front suspension and I needed to move it forward about 6 foot, I had to put the axle back in put the wheels on and a trolley jack under the front.
So I thought, I need some car trolleys, ordered some steel box that arrived yesterday.
Went out into the garage at 8 pm and a couple of hours later got this far, hope to have time to finish them tomorrow.

Love the body dollys. Think they are about £100 each if you bought them.

Yeah....by the early '70s we would at least put them on top of the pump when pumping gas.

I'm up the road a bit in Ilkeston, Derbyshire and like you, enjoy my Jeeps. Sadly I only have a standard English single garage which is so frustrating I have had 3 XJ's in the past and a ZJ and TJ at the moment which is the only vehicle which fits ok!

The last few evenings I have been sorting what was my office parts store back in the 90s, over the last several years, it's just been somewhere to chuck stuff that might come in handy one day, but probably never will.
This is a photo part way through I forgot to take one of the real mess.
A few months ago we replaced the worktops in the kitchen with oak, so the old laminate tops I thought would make a good work surface for my 'Clean room', engine assembly carb rebuilds etc.
This evening I sorted the stuff on the shelves.
This is a shot looking back the other way, I'm not looking forward to sorting whats on the rack, nuts, bolts, washers, hoses , cables, cr&p and more cr&p.
It's The GJ's fault I'm doing this, I know it will never come up to the standard of you guys, I admire all your garages from the mega money builds to the budget ones like mine.
I envy no one and what they have. I have what I have and i'm happy.

Love the old picture of the original building as well as your story of its history up to now, thanks for taking the time to peck it out with one and now two fingers!!! ;-) it was a great read!
Gotta ask about the garage swing out doors, did you build those? When you have time could you take some shot of them showing how they were constructed ? I hope to build some similar for my garage.

Thanks BF glad you like the thread, I've read your thread and really admire your recycling, a lot of the timber in my build came from a couple of small barns that I demolished on my neighbours' property .
I too am a Buick fan my favorite year is '37, my father owned one and I tell people it was the first car I ever drove, Ok I was only 4 years old but I remember it as if it was yesterday, stood on the seat between my dads legs hanging on to this huge steering wheel. A few years later it was set on fire, the local policeman accused my dad of doing it to claim on the insurance, but he had recently dropped the fire cover on it, so it was a total loss. I remember wanting him to get another American car, we looked at a '39 Chrysler, but even tho' I was only 6 I could see there was something wrong with the front end, so he passed on that one. a while after we looked at a Lincoln Zephyr V12 that was advertised in the local paper, he didn't buy that one either. He ended up buying a '49 Ford Pilot,English with a flathead V8.
Now an uncanny almost spooky coincidence, in '82 just after I bought this house I ripped up the old linoleum in the bedroom and underneath was a layer of old local newspapers dated '53, a friend who was helping started looking through the car ads and said hey there's a Lincoln Zephyr for sale and it's near here I live, and that was where dad and I looked at a Lincoln in '53. Had to be the same car.
Oh almost forgot the doors. They are just 4 frames made from 11/2" box steel with diagonal bracing 1/2" ply clad with 3" T&G and 3/4"x1". They have now rotted pretty bad so a refurb is on the to do list.

Just finished reading your thread. Great old house and loving your garage and the whole property history. Great stories from your experiences as well. I'm loving that your garage is a real working space. You got multiple fun projects in the works and it looks like a place you can build just about anything. Subscribed.

Not much done in the garage over the holiday period, managed to develop a bad head cold, so stayed in the warm.
A few of you have asked about the Corrado race car, so I've scanned a few pictures of the build. The quality is not great, taken on a cheap 35mm and you didn't know what they would be like until they came back from the printers.
The space frame comes as a basic kit all bends done and a load of straight tube you have to cut to length,notch, fit and weld together, you get a set of plans but i only followed them enough so that the body would fit, I like to put my own input into a design, as I did building plastic Hot Rod kits as a kid.
Before I started building it I made a steel work table, level and flat to keep it all true.
First pic shows the outside square box rails clamped to the table and the rear hoop tacked in place.
Then its more measuring ( at least twice ) cutting, notching, welding until you end up with a chassis.
No pictures until we reached this stage.
That,s it for now I should be getting some more pictures this weekend from the guys I built it for.

Do like the last pic above, they always make you realise just how far you have come.
My dad often used to tell me I was mad for so e of the things I made or built, but when I was done he would bring over his buddies to show off, or tell them about it.

Thanks Grizz, you have a good year too. When I started reading your post I thought you were going to mention the 100E in the last pic, seeing that your good lady Nicola used to own one. If you stay tuned I will be posting soon about the one in the pic , I did post a teaser pic earlier in my thread

I know I was going to ask, I missed out on one at an auction a few years ago, it is probably just as well as I don't have the budget for such an undertaking at the moment. I sold the remains of the Flying Flea late last year as I couldn't afford a restoration on it.
