Yeah, nice to know, ..............LOL
I paid $250.00 for My #2 and base.
Good job though.
Those are nice presses.
I like my #2.
I'll bet you are happy. That motor alone is worth $50.00 there getting harder to find cheap.
and that vise, don't they get big bucks for them?

EDIT
Peoples say the not ratcheting press is not as good, but so far, I have not ran into a problem.

Got off work at noon today which was a surprise so I headed to an Estate Sale that I thought I would not get an opportunity to go to. A couple of GJ'ers had been there on opening day/second day but I braved the cold and stood in line for 20 mins during the midday rush. House was very cluttered and very packed. Managed to make my way to the basement and found the toolroom.
Grabbed all this for $25:

Found some Snap On,Proto,Cornwell, and SK sockets.Wrenches from Indestro and Billings, more Channellocks a Blackhawk speedwrench, screwdrivers from Irwin,Crescent and Vaco. A Craftsman Crown Top box,I'm thinking held a 3/4" drive set at one time but cannot be certain, a wiggy meter and I'm sure a couple unmentioned items.

I agree that Crown box was probably a 3/4" set. The marks inside bear that out.

Nice finds Alinc, Bub, Joe, & 3 bay!

Great stuff guys!! I hit the auction in pursuit of 16 map/blueprint cabinets but they all went 3-4x what I was willing to pay so we called it a day.

I previewed a garage sale last night, the guy had a SO KRA and a mixed lot of tools in it for sale. wanted WAY too much for it though, and the KRA is not my ideal box anyway.

The local College FM wasn't completely rained out, probably 3/4 of the sellers showed, but other than a ceramic thing for my son's GF (Xmas gift), all I found tool wise was one Indestro ignition wrench, but the seller was "on break" and I was ready to leave, so there it stayed.

Later I went to the Post Office (SS) and stopped by a long running Estate sale" out of a commercial building unit, and picked these up for $5. a smallish soldering Copper, a small lathe's drive plate, a tail stock, and a drive center for wood. pretty sure this is all off the same small wood lathe. Needs some cleanup, but I can probably find a use for these in a re-use project.

I got some soldering irons like that somewhere, I don't know where the heck they even are right now. I'll have to find them and put them in that soldering kit l got today.
those lathe parts look like a good candidate for some wire brushing and then electrolysis.

$30 for that Wilton was a hellova price. Nice find on all that stuff. I've had a few jobs come up, I've been booked, no sales for me, but hey, a bird in the hand. $275 for all that stuff, I would have paid it in a minute.

x2, I hit up the ones their about to melt down for spare parts every once in awhile... or, if you have the Sears Hardware (or an Ace), check the Hillman bins, should be able to find the clip in one of those.

Thanks I will check that out.

I ended up with three or four of those. They were just extra **** from box lots I accumulated. I popped the heads off them and added $6 or $8 to total for a trip to the scrapper.

They're not available without buying a full kit on ebay. However, if your local Sears isn't staffed by idiots, you may be able to take it to them and ask for a repair. They may have a spare laying around out back, but it depends on if their repair guy is on duty when you go. Just don't let them talk you into an exchange.

Thanks for the info. The kits aren't available from Sears anymore up home. Being in a metro area this winter I will start hitting up the Sears stores I go by. UNLESS I can get that clip out of your avatar jake! lol

This has been on the watch list for a while. It's some big rail - over 6" tall. About 18" long and probably ~50 lbs. Bethlehem steel.

How much if you don't mind me asking, there has been one here on CL for a while.

"Nice section of railroad track, perfect for use as a starter anvil. Measures about 13" overall length and about 6-3/8" tall. Based on my Lambers Spring scale, this section weighs out at around 45+/- pounds. One edge is finished nicely. The other side appears to have been cut with a torch and is not nearly as neat or smooth. Overall condition is nice. Perfect for the hobbyist, junior blacksmith, etc."

Do you see the 10 on the blue tape?

There was another piece - slightly smaller - that I left behind. Now I'm thinking I should have bought it to resell on CL.

Cypher

Last year I stopped at a garage sale that had a large block of steel for $20. It was about 8" on a side with rounded corners and the sides weren't completely flat so it rocked a little. I laughed out loud because it was so heavy, smooth and compact that I couldn't get a grip on it to pick it up! Unfortunately, I didn't buy it. I should have just for the conversational value.

Yeah, l kind of hate to scrap them, but I'll probably never use them, we used them in High school.

OH yeah, I had not noticed the base was missing the ear.
I think some people have welded a ear on to them.
Wonder id you had a mill if you could carve one out, out of mild steel?

Bub and BJ, I just keep adding them to my drawer full of them. (assuming I get them cheap)

Bub, if you look in the vise thread you will see the ears repaired both ways, as well as brazed in.

Slow this week, but did get two things today, $35 for a 6" Wilton vise out of China and $15 for a 36" Rigid pipe wrench. Everything has all its parts and works. What I didn't get in numbers I apparently made up for in weight.

The thing I do that I detest the most is plumbing... so naturally I got these today: A 10" Stillson and a 10" Ridgid square-end jaw. I was intrigued by the handle on the ball pein hammer so I got it too. They've definitely had a rough life!

By trade, and grew up in a family that was into manufacturing/machine tools as I understand it. Leaving CNC out of it, her "home shop" puts some pro shops to shame.

wow, I'll bet.
I have read some of her posts, and my eyes just glaze over, and I say, aw, no, I cant do all that, and sometimes just give up and quit reading...................LOL.

Think I just used the quotes for emphasis. :willy_nil

These are the other items from the estate sale last week when I scored the two 3/4 thick flat plates. http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showpost.php?p=4437952&postcount=6822

Craftsman Crown label cantilever tool box. The other stuff in the picture was inside it, coolest thing was the Simplex salesman's sample jack.

2 General Electric working vintage fans and a made in USA 3 1/2 utility vise.

Herbrand automatic transmission tools box (empty), large (1/2) set of USA made number stamps and a really large protractor.

And I just realized I didn't take a picture of the bag of small stuff. Oh well LOL.

Total including the 3/4" plates was $130.

Went to the Oregon coast this weekend (lincoln city, depot bay) and hit up a few shops on the coast as well as a store in Mcminville.

On the coast
Scored this snappy pry bar, proto scraper, plvmb adjustable wrench, john deere pick and a few sockets, crow foot wrenches for $10.

Also stopped in at the habitat for humanity and got a big drift, proto screw driver and a wood chisel for $2.

Got a few proto or p&c screwdrivers, plvmb 1210 wrench ! and a proto wrench along a few craftsman/ pennons/plvmb sockets

I scored the proto los angles 3/8ths extension for free! Got a good wright swivel tip extension which will come in handy!

Picture of the whole lot taken on the kitchen table :) . My wife and I went away for an anniversary weekend and she tolerated my tool stops! She is a definite keeper !

First posting in the garage sale score section.
Mac Sabina, O. Wood handle screw driver set. Oddly it only has two Phillips head, but four clutch head drivers and a carbon/gasket scraper.

Some S&K green n white handle screwdivers, two are like new. Small Phillips is above avg, and one is trashed.

Nearly new set of early 90's napa nut drivers made in USA by Armstrong

I've been slowly going thru and sorting and cleaning some of my late fall flea finds including a bunch of odds and ends from a retired machinist.

Finally got this oddity cleaned up.

It's am APEX usa 5/8" flat blade driver bit pressed into a collar and then pressed into a mini 8-ball from a small pool table or bumper poo setl.

Even has a mini slot and set screww that is only there for show as that shaft is pressed in there.

Macinist said it was given to him by a buddy who used it for set scews on hismetal lather or mill.
Ir was uniquie enough to be easily seen and also to keep it from being stolen.

I don't have a need for it so it will likely wind of as some wacky GJ future ttrade fodder.

:)

No kidding.. It'll have a new owner by the end of the week.. I have a lot of old Blackhawk stuff that is due to be sorted and moved on down the road.. Lovely quality tools--I know I will not accumulate a full set and right now I have to save money for the garage!! Little buyin' and sellin' to get there!:rocker:
