What else has your brother done to his LB7?

Mike.

Did the cat fuel filter conversion trying to save his injectors. 4 inch exhaust. The bigger down pipe, and afe power Maxx cold air intake. Also a custom efi live tune. Needs a ****** at 130k because those Allisons are junk if you wanna run anywhere over 50 horse over stoke. Especially now since it doesn't cut out when you get in to it with the raptor fuel pump. I do all the work to it besides the efi live obviously.

You did a good thing, trying to help people out, especially during Christmas time. Don't let someone's attitude and actions bring you down to their level. Kharma's a ***** and will catch up to them.

X100.. No worry about your rant.. that's one of the many, special purposes of a chat board like this. I'm with you brother in many respects, maybe not to the extent.. but I've been treated like this in the past and when I finally overload the circuit and blow a fuse... I always am glad I did. Venting it here is no harm, no foul.. if no one wants to read they skip it.. if they do and complain at your rant, the haven't been in your shoes. I do care and trust that you and your neighbor will get past this one way or another...

Hang in there..

Dennis

PS: I agree with accepting the church money to cover your out of pocket expenses and return the balance to the church. I also agree with the poster who would lean on the neighbor to get both the wife's and the husband's commitment to repay the church the amount you accepted, over the course of time and above their normal level of giving to the church if any. I'm leaving 'interest 'on the debt out for now, if they're caring they'll figure that our on their own.

I'm also with another of the posters above, hit me up with your paypal and I'll chip in.

You're obviously a caring thoughtful person, and regardless of your attendance at a ceremony to celebrate a person who didn't want to necessarily be the center of attention, your behavior is much more holy and in the steps of that person than your neighbors. Think WWJD.. (I hope you get what I'm saying here).

Spent most of the day yesterday wrenching on my Mustang.. timing cover was leaking on the top in the notorious spot. If anyone reading this has worked on a Ford (especially a 302) you know how much of a pain those water pump bolts are. I got the two long studs on the ends out just fine, but I broke the top one off inside the cover  there was a little bit sticking out, but even with WD-40 and vise grips, it wasnt coming out. I drilled it out and re-tapped the hole.

Tonight after work will be spent cleaning gasket surfaces...fun stuff.

Last night I completed the axle swap in a neighbor's Exploder and got it the hell out of my shop.

Freakin' unappreciative people.

Mike, I read through your rant a couple pages back and the explanation of what happened, and I'm sorry you're having to go through all of this. I wish you and your family a merry christmas!

That is a nice looking bike there Jim. What all did you do to it?

Mike.

Thanks, the guy is totally in love with it.

The list is long, but here are the highlights:

Jesse Three Piece 11" panniers. $1700
Clearwater Erica lights. $1000
Fuzeblock FZ1. $90
MachineArtMoto mud guards. $200
Sargent front and rear seats. $700
Altrider Pillion Plate. $200
Giant Loops Tank bag. $200
Garmin GPS V. $800
Gerbing Heat Controller (heated Clothing). $120
Skene P2 Lights (tail). $150
Skene Photon Blaster (front lights). $120
Altrider Headlight protector. $150
Altrider sidestand extender. $70
Powerlet power plug. $70
Sharkskin tank protectors. $100
Clear Bra paint protection. $100
Kildala License Plate extender. $50
Duralast full size battery. $120
Bits and pieces and shop supplies. $250.

There are a metric ton of little things we did for protection and appearance improvements. The bike was just over $22k, and we added something like $4700 in accessories. If he had to pay labor to get these installed it would add another $2000.

Overall it was a fun/exhausting job, and I get to repeat it on my own bike that I pick up next Saturday!:lol_hitti

What's your PayPal? I'll get you a couple bucks.. Merry Christmas and all..

WOW!! That is very generous but the wife and I are fine. We are not bad off, I am just pissed that got taken advantage of and had to vent.

I really appreciate the offer though but there are people out there much more worse off than my wife and I who could use your generousity.

Thank you.

Mike.

Thank you but I am fine, we are not hurting financially because of this, again, I am just pissed I got taken advantage of and had to vent.

I appreciate everyone's comments and support but the wife and I got up this morning and decided we are over it. I/We have made decisions/mistakes in the past were we lost more than $300.00 and we learned from them so this is no different. We are not going to dwell on it any longer and we are thankful we have good jobs and we have plenty of work coming into our shop. Things could be much worse so it is behind us and time to focus on the upcoming week.

Sounds like a nice build. My son recently picked up a 2002 with the LB7 and I have been helping him bring it back to the proper condition. He loves it.

WOW!! That is quite a list with some very nice parts on it.

So did you purchase the same bike? If so, is your plan very similar?

I look forward to seeing your build.

I've put injectors in 2 lb7s and I dislike them greatly. But it's what my brother likes so I guess I have to "like them" to make a little bit of side money.

Changed the gear case oil in my pickup, cleaned up my bench. Started the sled pushed it outside, looked at all the brown grass instead of snow. Pulled the sled back inside then changed clutch weights.

I agree that the LB7 is not as easy to replace injectors as the LLY, LBZ, LML or LMM but they aren't that bad, just time consuming.

What's your son's plans for his dirty max?

He just wanted a nice driver. He ran across it at a steal as it was not running when he bought it. The body is in fantastic shape for 222k miles on the odometer.

He has replaced all the fluids from bumper to bumper, replaced the rear half of the transfer case due to pump rub, replaced the troublesome transmission cooler lines with DRP lines, replaced the fuel pressure regulator and had a nasty lower rocker box gasket leak that he has replaced.

Last weekend I helped him install a Cognito Stage III leveling kit. I think in the future he wants to pull the turbo inlet and bore it along with an exhaust system and some gauges.

He isn't going to do anything crazy with it, he just wants a reliable, dependable daily driver which I think he has done a great job creating. He has done many of same things I have done to my 06 LBZ a few years ago.

His is the GS Adventure, mine is a standard GS. Basically the same bike, the Adventure has a larger tank and crash bars.

I plan on about 90% of what he did, with some changes to mine for the better, I think. I'll post a build thread when I get started.

Thanks,

I'm trying to talk my brother into doing a Dana 60 solid front axle conversion. He has ruined 2 sets of tie rods and a set of tie rod sleeves from ppe.

Me and some freinds cleared one side of the shop out so we could get the BP and lathe in after we spent most of the day cleaning them. I put two new batteries in Linda's '06 Dodge/Cummins 3500 4dr 4x4, the battery terminal bolts we rotted, so I soaked them in baking soda and water to get them out of the lead lug end without having to replace the cables. I "borrowed" a couple of battery nuts/bolts off the service truck. I wished you Advance carried the double ended bolts like were on it from the factory. I went to Lowes, TSC for parts, new garbage can and cleaning supplies. I think I've put in about 13 hours so far today working around here, now I need to go to work for a little while.

I forgot about that, we installed Fabtech's HD tie rods on both his 2002 LB7 as well as my 2006 LBZ. That was one of the first mods I did to mine when I bought it in 2009 and we installed them on my son's LB7 last weekend after the leveling kit while I was doing the alignment.

Nearly finished my carport work area/storage area. Need some PVC blinds but this should give me more room to keep all my stuff. The press, parts washer and engine crane will live in the left bay, the right bay for storage and up along the top will be my outdoor timber and steel rack.

Scored a hospital bed for free and am converting it into a motorcycle work bench to finish my enfield on and build my tribsa on (ignore the motorised bicycle).

030_zpseb766763.jpg

got another 9 retaining blocks in along the fence line, these suckers are back breaking to move by yourself when you're a pretty small guy.

made up a compressor shelf and somehow managed to get the compressor up there (it was a bit hairy at times), still need to secure it and level it out. I'll be adding another support leg and some safety chains too I think... it's welded to an upright on the right hand side and dynabolted along the back wall and on the left brace.

THIS is the year I install my Hot Dawg 45. Last year I waited too long and then it just got too crazy cold. I also have new motivation this year. I have a nephew coming over Christmas week so we can work on his car, so I'm doing everything to get it in this week.

It was 48 in Chicago today so I went up on the roof to install B-vent. Hope to hang the heater and run gas and electric tomo. I'm also building a guest room in my basement right now.

Reattached the drivers side of the front bumper cover of my wife's DD which had been pulled free after she passed over a dip or something that dragged on the bottom edge. I pulled the wheel for better access and noticed the strut bellows was rotted out and torn, checked the passenger side and it's shot too, guess I know what I'm doing next weekend.

Afterward I sorted some hardware and other items into a cabinet and labeled the drawers.

Finished wiring up lights on my small flat bed trailer project and added a plastic tool box and a motorcycle wheel chock. It's a converted frame from a pop up camper. A few more final deck boards and it will be road ready.

Washed both the '13 Silverado 6.2L and '12 Equinox today since it was 48 degrees today. Gave the Silverado a fresh coat of wax this evening. Equinox gets done tomorrow morning.

Repaired my floor standing worklight, shovelled all around for trailer parking and man-door access, took my ATV for a spin around the neighborhood. Generally puttered around to get out of the house.

Awesome. You'll love it. When I built my shop back in 1995, I bought a used Reznor 75k BTU gas-fired heater from a contractor friend who was remodeling a grocery store. It was about 10 years old when I bought it and I just replaced it last year with a Modine Hot Dawg gas-fired unit. It works great and is fairly quiet. Sure is nice to be working in a 60-ish degree shop when it is below freezing outside.

Last night I lit the woodstove, and put more battens and rubber seals around the last door, just got to make a seal for the bottom of one side out of conveyor belt rubber and I should have stopped up all the draughts around the doors.

I made my 1 1/2" washer drain pipe 2" so I could add the backflush hose from my water softener to it. Just had to cut out access panel, cut away a section of old pipe, add a 1 1/2" to 2" adapter then glue in a 2" section. After letting it cure and running a load to ensure it holds I just need to replace panel and tape/mud it.

After thinking about it I guess this is really what I did "TO" my garage, rather than what I did "IN" it. Although technically I did this while I was IN it, so I'm counting it. Semantics.

I have some hauling to do in the near future so and the truck (97 dodge ram) decided that it was time to really start leaking oil. So It was time to kill the KDP and reseal the timing case, IP, tappet cover, and rebuild the vacuum pump/power steering pump. Also flushed the radiator, inner cooler and condenser. You can see in the pics my RedHead steering box hasn't been on long and its covered. At least the bottom of the truck wont rust!

Worked on a floor plan and stared off into space a good bit. For better or worse I have at least a year before I'm ready to move in so plenty of time to think it through:)

after installing 75% of my drywall, realized I needed/wanted at least one more outlet where I hadnt planned one. Woulda been a LOT easier about a week ago to add it. oh and BTW when buying black pipe the diameter is measuring the ID, not the OD!! Anyone need 85" piece of 1 1/4 black pipe already threaded?
