A major achievement .. :rocker:

I finally provided justification to the Minister of Cooking and Finances - for the purchase of some, of the tools bought in past months.

NWS Fantasticos,
A few StrongHand clamps,
New hammer handles,

Last night I watched my son machine a resonator plug for his Duramax. Tomorrow I am going to help him bore out the turbo intake/snout. It was the first time he has been able to use our new lathe and it was fun to watch him. He has been so busy working and with school I haven't had much time to work with him in the shop the past couple of months.

Assembled a HF trailer dolly. At first I thought I really should have made my own from scratch but it was on sale and I had a 25% off coupon to boot. I don't think I could have duplicated it for the same $$.

keep an eye on it. I just saw a HF tow dolly spit a wheel and assembly goin down the highway the other day. The tire bounced and passed the truck that was towing the dolly at 65mph.

Let me know if you think it is modifiable to take some fairly big tires. I can't think of a need for one right now but I always wondered if the dolly could be converted to a slow speed kind of steering trailer./wagon axle.

It has I think a 1/2" axle so you could probably swap out the stock wheels for something a little larger but the frame of this thing is pretty light weight. So depending on the size of the trailer you want to steer it might be too light duty. But if you really mean "slow speed" this could be adaptable. For manually moving around my trailers in the driveway it worked perfect today. I hand moved both a very light 9' flat bed trailer and a heavier 6 x 12 enclosed trailer with a lot less effort than lifting the tongue's by hand.

Sorry for any confusion with my original description. I think you are talking about a tow behind dolly for hauling a vehicle? This is just their simple hand truck dolly for moving trailers around the yard by hand. It worked very well today and was much easier than lifting trailer tongue's

My apologies, I thought you were talking about a tow dolly.

Today I decided to clean up the growing mess in the corner by my welding table. I have been sticking cut-offs in a bucket or a bin, and they have overflowed the capacity of those receptacles.

I picked up a steel bookshelf to use in my re-organization schema:

I cleaned out the corner:

And mounted the shelf to the wall, sitting on the foundation ledge.
I used some angle inside the back of the top to support the cabinet:

And I also screwed the back panel to the studs at the middle.

Then I fitted my Akro bins into the shelves.
I had to notch them to get two across:

And I organized my metal drops by type (round, tube, square, angle, etc.), in the bins:

And I made up a couple of wall brackets for some of the longer stuff:

Now I have less clutter and it is easier to find what I need:

Continued the tear down and clean up of a recently acquired Sears Dunlap bench drill press. Fabricated a cover for the motor electrical connections and have the main support pipe soaking overnight in Evapo-Rust. Should be sparkling clean by the morning.

Wrapped up putting a new Briggs motor on my snowblower, replacing the broken rod Tecumseh engine. Just waiting on some parts from toro for the trans controls.

Sitting down and relaxing on the couch this evening and my wife casually mentions "My car wouldn't start today. When it did and I tried backing out of the parking space it stalled. Could you do something about that?"

I'm like WTF? When where you planning on telling me about this? Got it started and into my garage. The idle air control valve was all cruded up with carbon and I'm assuming the problem. Got it all cleaned up, but can't test until tomorrow when I pick up a new gasket.

Was curious if the IAC valve fixed your problem? Our van is having starting issues, and I was suspecting valve as well. Thanks

Tore down the Neon. Found a cracked head. All in all it needs around $1500 in parts plus my time with around 187K miles on it. Trying to decide if it is worth it to repair or if it is time to replace.

Working to restore / touch up the flammables storage cabinet I purchased at auction last night.. $50.. 18x43x44.. Had to scrape/sand/prime/paint the rusted lower portions, and bottom inside shelf (picts are upside down in garage where I did the prep work). The final coat is drying in my basement where it will be used to store my paint thinners and other oil based materials.

I'll post pictures when all through.

Dennis
