Very nice build. I too like to neatly run all my wiring, regardless of the application. I guess it's O.C.D.

I have two questions about your man door installs.

You said outward swinging doors are harder to get into. Why?

And installed flat bag stock behind or in front of the door frame where the stricken slides through? Is is just screwed into/between the framing? That's sounds like a good idea.

Thanks

House doors are inswing so fireman can kick them in to rescue you. No frame work holding it back. It's not full proof security..it will just slow them down long enough for the alarm to go off a little earlier that's all.

The steel flat bar was sandwiched between the door frame and the 2x6 wall frame then lag bolted from the 2x6 side threw the flat bar into the door frame so the dead bolt just catches it, all so makes fram very strong

Could but I drilled them and put spring pins. So you can still get them off...just slot more more, plus with the alarm on any hammering on door causes glass break to trip
A good thunder will trip it!

It's just about slowing them down. U line up a inswing and a out swing door side by each. I'll be in your inswing in a flash with zero tools

This is such a great looking garage!!

It's obviously tough and expensive to come up with a really good looking structure and I think you nailed it!!

Spring pins are drilled and inserted through the hinge bolt at the bottom? I know HD and Lowes only sell the antitheft door hinges now. I will have to check that out in the hardware section.

Did you order the outward swinging doors as a pre hung package?

Yes and yes! I think the 48" door was $75 more but don't quote me, I wish I did it on both doors.

Very cool garage! I have never seen a garage done to look this cool!

Thx, it kind of just grew into what you see now. Still changing stuff around. My latest obsession is to get everything off the floor. And everything inside a cabinet, within reason. It's proven robe like the old saying " you don't know how much **** ya got till ya have to move it". Well it's the same when you try to put it all away!

P.S are you in a plant hammering Right and Left angles?

I bought 3 lengths, I'll measure it today. When the guy that did the drawings up, I had him sub in metal beam 20' span above my smaller garage door so I could get a 9' door vs. 8'. Also where the garage roof meets the shop the same beam supports roof trusses which is a 24' span. So I figured if this beam can hold all that load. It will hold a 1000 lbs chain fall load for the 10x in its life time it might see that much. I use it mainly for pricing my fiver hitch in/out of the old dodge.

PS I bolted 2x6 on top and bottom. And then screwed 2x6 to both sides of that and ran right to floor as with 4-2x6 post for it to sit on. I did this to help prevent twist in beam if it ever got to that stage.
