Ah, yes HT options for the garage. Did I mention my previous career was in Home Theater. It's funny that you mention Marantz and Monitor Audio. I have Gold Reference and Marantz Pre-amp in my regular home theater.
By the way, you must read fast if it only took you and hour.

Painting and Detailing Supply Racks
I started working on the boring stuff over the Christmas break. I'm doing some more cabinet prep work. I need to paint the walls, remove the Rubbermaid Tracks, patch the walls, and move the Griot's rack's.
The color is a tad lighter than I wanted, but it looks good. It is SW 7016, Mindful Gray from Sherwin Williams HGTV line. I wanted something in between the darker Gray floor and the lighter cabinets. I should have taken a cabinet door with me. The Mindful Gray is just a tad darker the the cabinets, so it will work. I'm going for the clean, clinical look.
I only use flat paint. Who washes their walls anyway? With flat you simply touch it up. When there is a sheen to the paint, you inevitably end up having to paint the entire wall for a simple touch-up. I also only use either Sherwin Williams Super Paint or Benjamin Moore "Ben" line. In my opinion the stuff from Home Depot and Lowes is junk. The
Pulling the floor up is really easy. I used a right-angled pick tool.

I also painted the attic ladder, but didn't take a photo.
Repainted the Trim and Door. The color is a shade of white from Color Wheel called Colonial Cream. It's what they used throughout the house.

I can't explain how happy I am with the floor. As I mentioned before, I hate plastic flooring. This Swisstrax stuff it much better than any I've experienced. I would highly recommend it. I think I may even do it in my mega garage addition.

I couldn't find my concrete patch stuff, so I grabbed some drywall mud. Not recommended but worked.

I got some additional Griot's bottle racks for Christmas, so I had to get them mounted. I order two more bottle racks to complete. I decided to make a larger space in the center to put some sort of simple Porsche vertical plate. The problem here is that the grout lines follow the slope of the floor, so the racks look a little off because they are level. I think you won't notice once I get the additional racks. I mounted them high to keep them out of the way when getting out of the car. Plus, I'm 6'2", so I can reach the top, and that is all that matters.
The new Griot's racks are little different than the old. The small bottle racks have five larger holes rather than six. The spray bottle racks are bigger and stick out a bit more. If I could do it over I would have put the larger racks on the outside. Oh well, no one will notice.
They stopped making the gallon rack years ago, so I had to improvise. I found these Go Rhino ones that aren't nearly as nice, but they match. I have the large rectangle ones.

Yeah, two car isn't going to cut it. I need to stop buying cars and save some cash to build my dream garage. So I'm making this one nice to hold me over.
I've had the same screen name since my Civic Si days. The 25 was my collegiate and high school volleyball number. The 36 is the embarrassing part. I was a huge fan of the Wu-Tang Clan at the time.

I just placed my order for my Saber Cabinets! I ordered them in Silver. I wanted black, but Dean suggested against his black finish. He is redesigning the black, but it won't be available until late next year.

I like how it's transforming. Very sanitary style, I dig it. I couldn't ever pull it off, maybe someday?
One other thing, maybe it's just me, but did SwissTrax ask you to post a thread? Whenever I read something by or about them it comes off in a way where their name is written super repetitively. No offense, it just felt promotional.

My experience with plastic floor tiles goes back to sport courts. I played volleyball in college and there was nothing worse than going to a concrete floored convention center and playing on a 1/2 sheet of plastic. I don't like the feel on my feet. I don't like the clicking and clacking. I had completely dismissed it.
I've been in many garages with Racedeck. I've never met a person other than me that doesn't love it. It's just not for me.
So after my epoxy disaster I started researching again. I could hire another pro to come out and fix my current epoxy. But how long is that going to last? I could grind down the floor and do porcelain tile. But I found out that was going to cost a **** ton of money and make a huge mess. I started thinking rubber flooring. Like Equine stall mats. That way I could just lay it on top of the epoxy.
I Googled "rubber floor tiles." That's when I stumbled on some YouTube videos of Tanner Faust's garage that has Swisstrax 100% Recycled Rubber Floor tile.
I found the stuff on a Saturday morning and got on the phone to inquire about the Rubber tiles on Cyber Monday. I talked to the girl that seemed to know everything on the planet about floor tiles. I told her what I wanted. I don't want a clicky clacking plastic floor. The Rubber tiles would solve that plasticy feeling. Well she smashed my hopes and dreams and suggested I don't do the entire garage in rubber. She suggested that the tiles are rubber and the connections are also rubber, so there is a lot of give in the tiles that interferes with the car tires.
As I was dismissing her, she very sternly stated that their tiles were different. Oh, and it's Cyber Monday, and we have 25% off and free shipping. I open my mind. I let her explain to me the details. We built a mock floor on the phone, and rather than order a sample, I took and risk and ordered the whole floor. Well, I couldn't be more pleased. If I were you, I'd order a sample of the Rubber Ribtrax and Plastic Ribtrax. They are much more substantial than RD.
I've been accused of being a Swisstrax promoter, but I promise you the only thing I got from them was a Cyber Monday discount on Cyber Monday. I wish I was on the inside to get free stuff.

I've been making some pretty solid progress on the garage this week. Since my cabinets are going to be here in a week or so, I needed to start tearing apart the back wall in prepare the walls.
I decided to just leave the Geneva cabinets on the wall. I'll take them down after the new cabinets show up.
Pulled the TV off to paint behind it.
Speakers as well. I'm still trying to decided what I want to do for sound. Do I want to buy another couple pairs of the Klipsch AW650s, or do I want to get something better?
Had to paint above the garage door. I think I'm going to get a wall mount opener.
I had to pull both the the fans down, patch the holes, and move them up about 2 1/2 inches. The large wide cabinets are 80.71" tall and it figures that with the 3/4" floor tiles, I would need to move the fans up a bit.
These are the Air King Quiet Version 24" Industrial Fans.

Little guy was so excited to discover what was in the upper drawers. He makes every project take twice as long cleaning up after him, but watching him learn/play is half fun.

Reinstall the TV. From back in my Home Theater design days, I only use Chief Manufacturing Brackets. They are so much better than the **** you find at the big box stores; flush, simple, heavy duty.

This Pioneer Elite is a Pro-1130HD 1365 X768P. The predecessor to the 1080P Kuro line. At almost 10 years old, I can't kill this thing. It is still so much better anything available today. The only thing that beat it was the Panasonic VT/ZT series that is also extinct (what I have in the family room). I'm praying for Organic LED to be a viable future solution now that Plasma is all but dead. LCD is garbage!
You have to have the right tools. I'm a big proponent of keeping painting tools simple. A high quality 2.5" brush and a wooden handled roller is all you need. All that gimicky stuff at HD/Lowe's is a waste of money.

I've been searching around at different lighting options: T8 vs. T5, Griot's super expensive lights ($300 each!), or just get a few more fixtures like what I already have. They aren't the neatest looking things, but at $90 each from Home Depot they probably aren't much different than the Griot ones. I have four of them now. I'm going to do two more. Each fixture is about 17,000 lumens. I decided against T5 when I saw them. The light is too focused for my taste. They are certainly brighter but are more directional.
I also decided to spend the hundred+ bucks to change out all of my bulbs. I had some 3,400K and 4,100K bulbs. Well now I know why all of my photo in the garage have been coming out yellow. After some research, I switched to 5,000K. What a difference!
Notice the 5000K on the left and 3500/4000K on the right.
Notice the shadow differences on the back wall on left versus right.

At night it's amazing the difference. Everything looks some much clearer with the change in color temp. I'm going to add two more of the same lights on a separate switch about the garage door for when I have the door closed. I'll probably offset them so the will still be useful with the door up.
I'm a sucker for complete sets. Even as a child I love complete sets of baseball cards or action figures. I'll probably never use half of these, but at least it look complete!

That said, I noticed you mentioned having owned an S2000 in the past.....looking back on that car's driving experience, does it stand up to the test of time?

Very nice clean garage. Im liking the colour choices and the nice clean lines. The floors a bit busy for my taste but im liking the rest.
Im just wondering if your detailing bug meens you will be detailing the paint finish on your new cabinet or are they a matt finish? Im only askings as i have done mine to help protect them and make them easier to clean.
Will you be painting the red bits to match the colour scheme or will the detailing products move to the cabinets to keep a cleaner look?

I think the answer is obvious.... you need new speakers. Those Klipsch outdoors just seem out of place. Some bookshelves mounted to the walls with a small sub in a corner would add some nice sound. 2.1 is what I run in my garage and I love it.

I hear you about not liking busy floors. They don't like quite as loud in person as they do in photos.
The cabinets are powder coated steel. That's a good idea to put something on the finish. I may slap some Sonax Polymer Net Shield on them.
That's not a bad idea to have the detailing supply shelves refinished.
I don't particularly have a budget, but I don't want to spend a fortune on a garage system.
I'm a reformed Audiophile, so you wouldn't think I would like Klipsch. The AW650 outdoor speakers are really capable. They are super efficient and have the ability to rip your face off. The problem with them is they don't do well at normal volume. I'm sure my neighbors don't get too excited when I crank it up with the door open.
I'm going to do 5.1. Here are my considerations. My B&K Ref 50 SII finally crapped out last year, so I cheaped out and bought a Marantaz SR7008 AVR and ditched the separates. Well that lasted about five minutes before I put my B&K REF2007 back in the cabinet. So I think I may get a new preamp for the family room and move the Marantaz to garage. I actually think my old Yamaha RXV1200 that I'm using in the garage currently sounds better than the more expensive Marantaz, but I really need HDMI switching.
So I have the Klipsch AW650 that I could just add a center, rears, and a sub. The other Klipsch option is I could get Reference bookshelves for the front stage.
The other better sounding option is to use my Monitor Audio Gold Reference Rears that I have and get LCR to complete the system.
I'm trying my hardest to wait until the cabinets get here to get it layed out and then decide.

I liked the relatively small size and ease of mounting, but was hoping for better low range. The CP-4s sounded terrible before I added a subwoofer. Now I'm happy with them. The CP-6s sound better than the CP-4s without a subwoofer, but now I'm planning to install a sub in that zone as well because I can't listen to them without thinking about the bass I'm missing.
If you're going to stay with Klipsch, I wouldn't recommend stepping down in size from the AW650 to the CP-6.
