Greetings everyone. New member here, I'm 17 and pretty new to everything. I bought my first vehicle (96 ranger, pictured) about a year ago and that got me interested in mechanics and tools.
My dad is pretty handy and he and I build and fix things all the time (from giant pergolas to 20 foot tall shelves and everything in between) . Still I would love to learn things from people on here as well.
Right now my tools are pretty limited, most of what is pictured as been bought in the last two months. When I bought my truck I just got a cheap Stanley socket/ratchet set. Which I'm working on straying away from, replacing it mostly with Kobalt and Craftsman.
Hopefully in the next month or so I can upgrade to a "big boy" tool box, from my three drawer warrior.
I look forward to learning all I can, any advice/tool suggestions or threads of interest would be greatly appreciated!

Here are my tools, minus some stuff I keep in a tool bag in my truck for roadside emergencies.

Hammer, wd-40, torx sockets, alan wrenches, breaker bar, tape measure and pressision screw drivers

Stanley sockets and ratchets (plus one kobalt ratchet lol), various extensions and whatnot. Most of this will probably go into my junk yard bag and will be replaced with some nicer tools when finances permit.

Wrenches, kobalt ratchet wrenches and some Stanley wrenches (again, going into the junk yard bag to be replaced eventually)

Screwdrivers... You already know what brand and where it's going. Along with Kobalt pliers.

Sorry for a long post/being image heavy. Just trying to be very thorough. Like I said, any advice is appreciated! Looking forward to lurking and learning.

Welcome,
Now one thing to know a lot of us here suffer from OCD which shows in the shops, boxes, cars etc here so showing drawers that are not neat is well umm nerve wracking !! LOL No worries though, you have time to learn as you get older you forget where you put things. It is better to have stuff arranged so you don't end up owning say a dozen tape measures etc :} LOL not that I would know anything about that but I heard stories :}

If more 17 year olds were interested in tools and learning by wrenching in their garage the world would be a better place.

Yeah, it is a little disorganized. The containers didnt fit int he box so they had to go. I'll probably end up getting some socket holders tomorrow.

I agree. Most of my friends are just into video games and stuff like that. I like wrenching my truck lol. It bothers me not being productive.

Thanks. I think I have enough to tackle most projects so I'm focusing on saving and investing in nicer things as I can.

Tredeh: buy some quality tools as you can, but like has been said you probably have enough to do some good work now. i had a 3 drawer tool box on my bench and a carry box in my car for 40 years and managed to build and fix a few things.

nice first post. enjoy the reading so you can catch up and ask questions or teach us what you have learned.

Welcome

Farmall: are you serious that you are only 16 years old?
