Man, if you wanted to buy a whole set, brand new, that's just about unbeatable. If I didn't already have two sets I rarely use, I'd pull the trigger on those.

The DBE's I've examined at HF in the past year are all made in India. The broaching was way off-center in many of the box ends, the casting flash is generous and the finish uneven. They were, in fact, really cheap. Personally, I'm holding out for something better.

I looked at them too.
I'm sure they work just fine, but they are some of the ugliest wrenches I've ever seen....

The Stahlwilles are really outstanding, I got a deep metric set about a year ago, I like them better than Snap-ons and that's the highest rating I have.

Got me thinking on those wrenches from Germany. Do they have the same tech like flank drive or sure grip?
Those Hazet wrenches are nice.I have a thing for Deep Offset wrenches. Craftsman USA Professionals, Facom, Hazet, SK stubby and Regular craftsman USA. All in all I like my Hazet and Facom's the best. They just have a better feel. Second choice would be the older Craftsman USA professionals.
OP this Facom 55 deep offset is only $85, new

If you actually try those HF ones, they fit really tight and work great!! I'll have to see if mine are really India and look at them again. I really like them! Very deep box end and not extra material, so fit in tight spots which is the whole purpose of deep box end. - Paul

Timely thread Cobra, I almost pulled the trigger on a Snap-on set over the weekend but decided to wait and pick up some higher priority items. I've got a couple of projects on the horizon where these will be handy but I don't need them tomorrow, so to speak.
Anyway, I was following this thread minding my own business and then SantaAna comes along with the link and the code for that ridiculous deal on the Stahlwille's from AAP and now I'm waiting for them to arrive and looking forward to using them!

Yes the HF ones are all from India. I genuinely think this kind of wrench is one that people want to have a fancy set even though it doesn't get much use, just for the sake of it.
I recently did upgrade mine from the HF to the CM USA set. Yes they are nicer and shinier and all the rest. No they were not a necessary upgrade. To be fair, I don't use these kinds of wrenches often but I do use them.
I'm a ratchet guy before a wrench guy but when you start adding extensions, universals, and it gets complicated, this is a better tool if it fits. I'm also a 6 pt guy over a 12 pt guy, but the benefit of 12pt on this style is obvious. The HF ones never gave me any problems, though I did only use the bigger sizes.

I find the HF ones to fit about as well as my old Craftsman Vs do! Very decent. These may be the only India tools that I think are as good as Taiwan or some US even. Ugly finish though but not everyone wants smooth chrome. Less likely to slip being a little bumpy. - Paul

If you want normal offset get SATA. If you "feel" you need deeper offset---Hazet.

I have the Stahlwille deep offsets available from Amazon, the price really jumped though when I bought them they were $134, now they are showing a price of $208.

I think I paid about 90 from AA but is was a long time ago. They are excellent wrenches, I added the shallow double box Coronas, direct from Germany. Those 2 sets are my only Stahlwille and they are so nice to use!

That is an terrific deal. I noticed Advance Auto was running a $50 off special but didn't know they carried Stahlwille. I just ordered a set - free shipping! Total was $108 delivered.

SK's are nice, American-made, and have an advanced broaching profile (Sure Grip) to reduce rounding of fasteners. But they're probably too much for your price range.
If you have the time, keep an eye out for Bonney DBE's. Very nice, but no longer made, so, gotta watch ebay and the like.
You never know. Epstein's came across a NOS Bonney stash in the back of an old warehouse a few years ago. A set of those wrenches went for around $100.
After looking at those, there is no doubt that Bonney made Matco's wrenches in the early 1990s.

My set just arrived this afternoon. They remind me of the old Indestro deep offset wrenches. Is it just me, or has Stahlwille cheapened their tools? I have an older 14 series 17mm that seems to be better made.

Mine arrived last week. They do somewhat resemble the older Indestro brand in the handle area, but the offset ends are different from the Indestro box ends I own. As to their quality, the wrenches seem well made. The Stahlwilles are not 100% polished as Snap-On does, but the 12-point gripping surfaces seem well cut and the wrench sides where my fingers contact are smooth and rounded. Can't speak to older vs current quality, but I have no complaints and feel confident in recommending this set.
