Great thread! When we got S·K out of bankruptcy there was precious little history that was easily accessible. One of the things I'm going to do over the next year is to try to establish a historical record of S·K going back to its origins before WW I.

lzenglish, your Sherman-Klove boxes are cleaner than anything I've seen around the plant, particularly the Diamond labels look to be really clean. I'd love to be able to have a cleaner image of that metal label than what I have. Do you have any close-ups of the plate?

I'm looking in the 1965 Sk Wayne catalog and I ran across 3 wrenches I can't seem to find anywhere. Has anybody actually seen these wrenches? The model numbers are H-1214, H-1618 and H-2024. They are 30 degree long pattern box wrenches in 6 pt.

I for one would love this information.:bounce:
I've not found much SK info at all back that far.

I had a great deal of SK stuff, including some really old tools. But a fellow GJ member came to my place and made me an offer for MOST everything SK that I had (I kept my "user" SK tools). I kind of miss that part of my collection, but I am trying to convert my collection from a whole wall full of just about ALL the brands of tools down to just a few brands, so I can manage them better. Then I might have a chance to fill in holes in a few of those sets.

Here are logos from a couple boxes I have.

Anyone know about the SK Spin Kit? Years produced/sold and that stuff?

Tools.jpg

Sockets I have: 3/16, 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, 7/16.

So it has a 3/16" socket and lacks the 1/2". I'm assuming this was done by someone and wasn't sold new like this?

Great sets! I have always liked SK tools...ever since my grandfather gave my my first set of SK Wayne open end wrenches. Here is a picture of a nice set of SK sockets I bought recently (maybe from a GJ member?). A close inspection reveals the 7/8" is a different model. I would love to complete this set...and I'd love to find a cool SK box for them.

This has become more of an addiction. But here is my one of store displays with all the sockets including the very hard to find ford and Buick sockets.

And here is a close up of the ford v118 socket and a 21/32 and 31/32 hard to find sockets

Next project is my spa display from the dresser era. Has 3 sides including 6 boards on a rotating base. Stands over 6' tall and has about every tool imaginable that s-k made

Whoa, great boards/display! You've got me thinking now that my S-K roll cab would be better off in your hands.......:(

I've only seen two, and I have one of them. Green, S-K Tools logo.

Perhaps we'll need to discuss some horse trading.....

Edit: I also have 4 wrench rolls from "around" the Dresser era, two say Dresser Industries. They are NOS. You seem to be much much more into S-K (not that I'm not) so I'd like to see them in your collection. Nothing I have is for sale, but I'm willing to horsetrade all day long!

Here is my meager supply of SK tools circa 1960. One photo is 1/4" drive deep sockets, breaker bar with leverage bar and two extensions. The other is two 1/2" drive sockets and six 3/8" drive sockets. The 1/4" drive sockets are keepers and the rest are in my excess drawer.

Went to a tool store that was having a going out of business sale and scored this 1/2" drive ratchet. Goes great with my socket set...even though the ratchet is an SK Wayne. :p

Nobody ever responded to this question so I thought I'd repost it. I still haven't ran across these wrenches. I don't really have a use for them either. Just curious if there are many out there.

In the 6 months since I posted that I've never seen any of them for sale on ebay so I was really just curious if they were ever actually produced. If you have them I guess that answers my question.

I can't believe I've never posted in this thread before. Since I'm in Illinois I am always finding vintage SK stuff at auctions. These are from a week ago or so.

All the photos are links to a fullsize photo.

Oooh, a rusty green box.

Tada!

Those 1/2 bars are still my favorite bar. I don't know how many cheater pipes I have had on mine and still haven't broke or bent 1 yet.
