Well before I was asking for the same one from the states, turns out they are now selling this innova led shop fixture for 50-60 dollars. Just incase anyone was interested. Sorry for the crappy quality photo.

Has anyone installed these?
I am thinking about buying 4 of these for my new 22x20 garage. I only have 8' ceilings, so I hope they will be sufficient. Any opinions on how many are truly needed?

Thanks.

Saw those the other day also. My wife pointed them out to me.

She said, "you should run those in the garage when you start fixing it up."

I said, "yes dear, your absolutely right"! hahaha

But seriously.... I'll be monitoring this thread also before I make up my mind.

Well, I bought 5 of these for my garage in our new build. It will be another month or so before I get them installed.
They come with a cord to be plugged into an outlet and have a pull switch on the side. Do you guys think it's possible to just cut off the plug cord and hardwire them? I would like to mount them directly to the ceiling, so I hope that's possible.
I guess when I do that and they fail, I will not be able to return these, huh?!

Just unhook the cord from inside and hardwire. I've done T8's like that. I can't see a failure, but you could always just put the cord back in.

i bought 2. Not installed yet but left them out in the cold and started up no problem which is the big thing for me as the shop is unheated lately. All lights off and just a wave around the shop and i am sure they will be a definite improvement. was thinking of 5 myself but 3 might do the trick. 24x24 with 10 ft. ceiling.

Saw these the other week. Definitely interesting but wish they were similar to the 2 bulb 3700 lumen units they get in the US. and had the plug exit on the side so they could be direct mounted.

The other issue I see with modifying the fixture (removing the plug and hard-wiring) is with code compliance. These are rated to work as is with the plug, and unless specifically stated in the instructions, cannot be modified. If they are and an issue arises, your house insurance would likely be void since they don't meet code. You have to install them to exact manufacturer recommendations.

I think you are correct. :(
I took one out of the box and read the manual and it says that any modification to the fixture will void warranty and may not be in compliance with local codes.
So, it sounds like I will be just keeping one for my workbench and plug it in there and return the other 4. Too bad as I really like tofse. I actually like that they have the pull switch. I was planning to use it depending on how much light I need for a given task.
The only other LED ceiling mount for the garage I can find is the Lithonia LED wraparound fixture, but they go for $139 each. I don't think I'll be buying 4 of those. :(

Why not use them and instead of hard wiring them just install receptacles for each one to plug into. You may have to install spacers (1 or 2 inch) to mount them instead of direct mounting to the ceiling.

I have installed them they are very bright comparing to my regular tubes huge difference well worth the investment plus they are do not need much ceiling space which they can fit in tight space.. Going to buy 4 more

It's a new construction and electrical contractor is asking $50 for each new plug. Plus I'm not too crazy of having 4 plugs on the ceiling with black wires running to them.
I will show them the fixture and ask if they can hardwire it.

Look for Philips Fluxstream or Fluxstream EZ. 4000 lumens/4 ft section. You should be able to get them much less than the Lithonia.
