I'd pass...
Gentlemen,
I've searched and find nothing on this vise by Wilton. Seller on local C/L says it has 6 1/2" jaws but the model number shows 655. Seller wants $85.00.

There are a few clues that it is not American. Look at the handle and swivel nuts. There is rusted chrome there. To my knowledge there are no American vises, let alone American Wilton's that use chrome anywhere.
**: nice looking Record and glad the vise therapy worked.
Stevo: my Wilton C2 that is also a 1978 has the clip on the back of the jaws and no pins. here's a few pictures of my C2 and an exploded view of your C1 with the 2 types of C1's pipe jaws. I think there is one more type of pipe jaws for the Wilton C series vises that is a set screw, but i couldn't find a picture of one handy.
Blue: it looks like a fairly common inexpensive Wilton. nothing special, but it would do most any job in the shop.
Iirc, there is a pin from the side that holds the pipe jawThis week, I won an auction bid on a Wilton C1, 4-1/2" swivel combination vise.
At first, I only bid $40, via the online site, then after going down to the auction place and previewing things, I upped my bid to a maximum of $98.
I was cruising along with a bid of $65 winning right up until the last minute, when someone slid in with a bid of $95.50, which triggered my max bid of $98, so I ended up paying that much for it.
It was crusty looking, but it is basically all stuck on grunge, kind of like asphalt/sand or some similar accumulation.

The replaceable jaws are pretty chewed up, but the physical jaws themselves, as well as the screw, nut, swivel base, etc. are in pretty good condition.

I took it apart today:

And from the slide guide numbers, it looks like an August, 1978 vise.

I cleaned up all the parts in the parts washer, and bead blasted the swivel base and end cone parts:

And I started trying to get the jaws off.
So far, I have managed to remove one of the removeable jaw screws, and am beating on, heating, and soaking the other three:

Hopefully, I'll get the other three out without too much voodoo or collateral damage, and then I can prep the vise body and dynamic jaw for painting, while I order some new jaw inserts for it.
Oh, and does someone here know how to get the pipe jaws out?
Maybe when I bead blast the big parts, a pin will be obvious, but right now, I don't see anything.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Suppose A_Pmech or KMScott or someone has tooled up and begun making replacement pipe jaws for Shop Kings? To be authentic, of course, they'd need to be cast iron, not machined. Missing a pair on my 3 1/2", just wondering. I got it cheap at an estate sale, and had to talk them into selling it without the POS workbench it was bolted to. Fortunately, the bench was Craftsman and therefor far more valuable than the vise.![]()
I could kick myself for not spending a few minutes searching for the jaws, but wanted to git while the gittin' was good.
They're so frequently lost you'd think there would be plenty just lying around.
Anyone have some spares, let me know.

Once I get going on something I like to finish all the sizes, I might be bugging VA and GETRIDAONE since I remember they had a few more Parkers then I have. I have three figured out but feel I am still two more, one for the 3" and the big 8". I have one newer Parker with a thin flat plate as it's collar, the 973-1/2B. Kind of flimsy in the collar design. I'll want to improve it when I get to that one.
Interesting shop made vise for sale pretty close to me for $40

Been focusing on Parker collars this last week and have found that even the collars need to be fit like the jaws. I can not understand why the jaws and collars could not have been made more standard, damn engineers anyway. I have several Parkers and every one is different. I have a few customers that wanted me to make them a collar so that got me going but they will have to custom fit them to their vise. Out of four Parkers I have that needed collars two needed minor machining for final fit, one only needed a file taken to it but the 954-1/2 will have to go on the milling machine and get some major adjusting along with a new wear plate to take up the difference. The picture of the 954-1/2 shows a large gap and a short step. I made the collars with a longer ears for adjusting purposes.
Thanks to btrnuthatch for supplying me a couple of his Bronze castings for my 272 as a pattern. My 272 needed about a 1/16 removed from the ears and a good filing to flatten the casting.
My 956 collar was in great shape but at the factory they did not flatten the surface where the two bolts clamp the collar to the casting, instead they added a radius to the inside of the collar to match the Dynamic jaw support, it almost looks like they casted it that way.
The machining **** I added is making the larger collars for the 6" vises.

Today I was photographing my new Reed 404 1/2 for my database when I noticed it had 4 feet! More importantly, I noticed that the base was marked '2C'. So can I assume that a Reed 2C base will fit other 4" reed swivelers?
rumb: You can adjust the vice to remove that play you have. Have a look at page 13 of this document http://www.schraubstock.de/uploads/media/Montageanleitung_2015_web.pdf

Kevin, I acquired some Parker parts recently and I will send you some (2 sets) for Parker 18, 19, and 20s. Bases, base plates and collars, for your inventory. Just a Thank you for all you do for the board.
I wish I were closer. I would love to get the accessories.
No I Can't! I read all info about removing play in HEUER Front vise and watched video about maintenance, It's best, what I can achieve without grabbing. I tried lubricate, tried even polish sides with 1000 sandpaper. It's just made with some tolerances. You can see, how welded nut cover![]()
It is an old Parker hunchback combination vise.
Thanks Joe, I do not care what everyone else says, you are OK in my book. I owe ya some more handles.
Sometimes those sales hurt. You're getting good money but hate to see it go! Like you said, on to the next one.
oswego tool combination, 1 of the few with both jaw inserts and maybe not to damaged jaw towers. good luck.
