Hey everyone, name's Greg, but I've been given the nickname Sandbag... and it stuck. Anyway, someone on another board recommended this site to us, and I just had to check it out!!! I must say, there's definitely some SICK garages on here... makes my 2 car look like a shed, lol.

Well, I'm always out in the garage... either working on my truck, or a fabrication project for someone else, or I'll spend an afternoon reloading some ammo. I have a 1999 Nissan Frontier that used to be 2wd, but I did a 4wd conversion, and swapped a Dana 44 from a Jeep Wagoneer for a new front axle. There's a TON of mods done to that truck, and I can go into detail if it's wanted, but for the sake of my first post, I'll just throw some pics of my garage on here, haha.

I am in the process of rewiring the garage. I don't understand how people think one GFCI outlet is enough in a 2 car garage. I had the builder install an appliance outlet just because of the fridge, but they wanted WAY to much to wire it up the way I wanted it done, so fast forward 3 years, and I'm now doing it myself. For the sake of having extra outlets, I just ran two 20A 110V circuits off my existing panel, but I intend to install a sub panel in the garage, and run all the new circuits off that. I want 4-6 110V circuits, and two 220V circuits. For the immediate future, I am going to move the top cabinet over to the other wall to give me more wall space, and paint the garage. The bare drywall is sooo lame, lol.

Without further adeiu, here's the pics:

Thanks for the compliments guys. It isn't much, but it's what I got, and it allows me to get in there and "escape" the stresses of everyday life. Fully stocked beer fridge, computer with internet, stereo, and the 27" flatscreen on the wall with cable. Makes working out there almost enjoyable, lol... now, if I could only do something about the heat in there during the summer, haha.

I plan on finishing it up sometime soon. The bare drywall is really starting to bug me. I didn't care at first, but now, I notice, and don't like it.

Yeah, AZ is cool like that... all that we require to be street legal are mudflaps for trucks (which I don't have, lol), brake lights, headlights, and a windshield or "adequate eye protection." I'm sure there's others, but for the most part, that's it. Down here in Tucson, I see a lot of buggies on the street, lol.

I sure do use the **** outta my garage. That table is 4'x6', with a 3/16" top, all made from 2x2x.120 wall. The top has cross braces every 2'. I think the table alone weighs in around 550lbs (or so), lol. I plan on adding more florescent lights on the ceiling to light up the rest of the shop, but I can only do so much at a time, lol.

EDIT TO ADD: GO STEELERS!!! My wife and I are huge Pittsburgh fans. Her dad was from Munhall, and has other relatives in Duquesne.

Welcome Sandbag. Nice set up--you have all the basics and a good start on a very sweet shop.

Regarding the GFC outlets, there are folks on this board who are light years more knowledgeable than I, but it's my understanding that all outlets downstream of a GFC are also covered. You might put a post in the lighting/electrical section for advice on that point.

You are correct, sir... I had to put non-GFC circuits in because welding on a GFI really *****, lol. Just as soon as you'd get situated, and lay 1/4" of a weld, "pop!" time to reset the breaker, haha. I am in the process of wiring my entire garage on a new sub panel, just to clean things up, and get the right power I need to do the job ;)

Not pictured in my garage (loaning it to my buddy at his shop), is a JD2 Model 3 bender, converted to air over hydro assist, and a Pro-tools notcher.

Very nice setup. Not that it matters, but what I don't see in the pictures are the TV or monitor. Do you keep them tucked away in one of those cabinets? Is it hanging on the wall next to the fridge, covered with a sheet?

Oh, and the Browns are taking the AFC North this year. Dawg Pound!

Yeah, the monitor/tv is mounted on the wall, LCD flatscreen, above the fridge, covered with the sheet (keep dust and welding/grinding dust off it when not being used). I thought I had a pic somewhere with it opened out and on, but I guess not. I still need to do some more organizing, and throw a bunch of **** out. There's plenty in there that I don't need/use, and my space is a premium.

Altho, here's a pic of the project I'm currently working on... half doors for Mongo (my frontier):

Welcome to the site, nice truck. You may be in the same state, but you aren't really local. :)

I agree, it's already a bit warm to do things in the garage. My plan is to blow in some Home Depot cellulose insulation and get a reasonable AC unit for my garage. I already have an insulated door but that doesn't do much alone.

Mongo like Sheriff Bart.

One of my all-time favorite movies... I can probably quote that movie from beginning to end. My 4 wheelin group takes the entire week of spring break every year to do a camping/wheeling trip. We call it the "AZ RUN." This year, was our ninth consecutive year... Each night, we watch a movie. One of our guys brings a projector, generator and dvd player.

Blazing Saddles shown on the side of a Radio Box Uni-Mog by the campfire, anyone???

Sorry for the delayed response. Yeah, the large one on the top shelf is a TMAXX. Also not pictured, I have an old school RC10T3. I acquired it by doing some fab work for a buddy.

Here's a pic of the EMAXX with a new body on it:

If this weekend works out the way I want, I am going to sand the walls, and possibly primer them. Time to start working out there again ;)

Alright. Here's a couple pics of the garage primered:

...and here's some of the garage mostly painted. I still need to paint the ceiling, but at least that's primered. Also, I have to do the wall behind my bench and fridge. I am putting that off for another weekend, as I am tired as hell from moving and painting everything myself. Plus, I want at least one day of my 3-day weekend to be chill, lol. Anyways, here's some more pics. I think the color is called "Sea Breeze" or something along those lines:

Bored?

Paint those wood-grain cabinets a darker grey color to match the mill scale color of the welding table. Same for the fridge. Same for the shelves and the desk/workbench. Build a shed outside for the 4x4 tires and gardening gear (paint it, too ;) ).

Are you done yet?
