What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I'll try that, but I don't expect much in the way of results. I tried to increase the tension according to Coxreels instructions by pulling 6" of wire out, locking the reel and manually wrapping it back onto the spool, but all I ended up with is the spring would go into bind before the reel was fully extended.

I dealt with this on my HF 50' air reel but it's the same principle. I ended up starting with the hose fully wound, removing the hose stop then spinning the reel in the unwind direction until it was nice and tight and locked. I pulled the hose back through the guide, put the hose stop back on and all is well.

I should add I had to do this because my hose ended up off the reel without it being rolled so I was basically starting from scratch. I tried the pull out and wrap idea with no good result as well.

Was wandering through HD today and said, "Self, it's time to replace the PVC that your using on the compressor and go copper".

So I did. Been working on it for a couple of hours (first time working with copper) and I only have one fitting that needs to be re-sweated.

Started machining new ends for my suspension links for my Jeep last night.

Last night I got the four lower axle link ends completed. Tonight hopefully I can get the upper axle ends done before our Jeep club meeting. Then this weekend get the new links fabricated and painted so I can install them by the first part of next week.

I've been slacking on updates.
I had an extra shelf that I cut an end off of. I cut the rod up ~2" pieces and welded them on the bottom to form a rake. I welded a piece of 1/2" black pipe to the front to form a solid pull point. I bought a few feet of steel braided line and some ferrules to form a tow line and make anchors for my bricks. The problem was the rake would twist around since the line was slipping around my pull point on the 4-wheeler, so I put a 2" ring in the center. Problem solved.

I skimped last year & only replaced the head gaskets on the mower. I still had an oil leak, so I pulled it all the way down & put new rings in it while I had it apart.

While I had the mower up on the stands, I decided to put some tires on it. The turf tires slip entirely too much, and forget turning if the grass is a bit wet. Problem was the selection of 8" tires is pretty pathetic. I had a set of 9" wheels from my 4-wheeler and since there is an extensive choice of tread patterns for 9" tires, I had my hubs redrilled for my spare wheels.

I came up with a full set of 5.1 surround sound speakers for a C-note, so I pulled out the old Harmon to try them out. Everything worked, so I fished all the speaker wire through the ceiling and mounted them up high. I have 3 in the shop and 2 more out in the garage. The sub is under the bench.

I still need to make a dedicated space for the receiver.

I replaced the carb on the 400ex, changed the oil in the camaro differential so that I could check out the posi unit, and started (what I hope to be) the last of the shelves for the wife.

Repaired my chainsaw.. after 14 years the fuel line rotted out and machine would stall out with less than a full tank of fuel in it.

while I was in there I replaced the fuel filter and air filter too.
I also sent my spare chains to re-sharpen.

Runs like new again and ready to take down some bushes for one of my last outdoor projects at home.


Poulan 2900 farmhand with a 20" bar. Made in USA when I bought it at HD in 2001. It has served me well over the years so I will hang on to it.
The day I get rid of it I will need it for another unforeseen project or someone will want to borrow it.

I need to find a storage case for it and will drain the fuel this time. but with 3 year old gas in it, it fired right up.. LOL must be the oil and stabil...

Finally finished repairing the damage from the electrical fire in my 1972 Datsun 240Z and drove it to the Blackhawk Auto Museum Cars & Coffee meet in Blackhawk, CA. It was great to get her back on the road and hear those turbos sing after nearly 3 months!

"Turbo's" as in plural? RB28DETT swap? One of the very few twin turbo'd L6 builds?

Turf tires are designed to slip a little so they don't tear the turf up. You may have just created more work for yourself reseeding... Hope it works out well!

Added a new project: '64 Galaxie 2dr Fastback. The previous owner started the project, royally screwed up the paint and decided to pass along the project via craigslist. She is all metal and includes a full new interior, new bumpers and very nice stainless trim. I will be striping the paint and starting from scratch.

spent 2 hours bleeding brakes on the Yam Venture and about 2 pints of brake fluid and just cannot get all the air out it seems.

I’ve wanted to upgrade the air supply in my 3-car garage for a while. When I replaced the 25-foot hose reel from Costco with a 50-footer from Harbor Freight, I thought about throwing the smaller one out. I only paid $22 for it but it still works fine. The hose reel mounted on the wall at the compressor is handy but I seem to need the whole 50 feet of hose when working on the cars in the first or second bay.

I decided to mount the 25-footer on the ceiling between the first and second bay. Rather than run a hose, I ran a ½-inch copper line from above the compressor in the third bay to the spot between the first and second bay. In case of a hose failure both are connected to the air supply with flexible hose and high-flow quick connects.

The copper drop at the second reel has an oversize (3/4-inch) water trap. The ball valve on the trap is great for clearing water but also works as a cooling air shower when I’m covered with dust.

Started the day going to do a quick radiator replacement on the BMW and it turned into a half day project just to get the radiator out and the new radiator is the wrong one. So now I'm sitting with three full bays. At least one has the motor in it still

Once I found the out that the radiator was incorrect, I got the pressure washer out and cleaned 30 years of grease and junk off of the engine and front axle beam of the Puma. Then I drank a beer.

In front of the Garage but: replaced a fuel tank vent hose that was leaking. I also found out WHY it was leaking... The thing had been jammed on with one edge folded over, and the clamp never touched the tube. Looked like it had been that way from the factory, so Hmmm, 28 years it's been like that.

I also replaced the brake pads on the left front (tomorrow I'll do the right) and re-packed the wheel bearing, and adjusted it since it was loose...

Yesterday I installed Fass lift pump to the ole Duramax.
Today finally got the pulley off my air compressor motor, so I could replace the bearings. Compressor is old and I like the "thump thump thump" sound instead of the buzz of a new compressor. I destroyed the pulley but its off. I will buy a new pulley and bearings and put thumper back together again.
Then I rotated the tires and changed oil in the wife's trusty steed.

OK, got the right side brake pads changed. So I have brakes that are not worn out... The wheel bearings on that side were good to go... I also changed all the fuel supply and return lines in the engine compartment; still meed to crawl under the thing to change the in line fuel filter and the short connector lines...

Yesterday was spent tilling up a couple gardens at the in-laws, then back home to remove the snower blower, put the mowing deck back on to mow, then aerate and fertilize the lawn. Today was time for the F-150 and I think I got a decent amount done to the truck today. Picked up a used set of Retrofits off of here a month or so ago, but had issues with the ballasts and the new ones showed up yesterday. So today I washed the truck, then installed some new Morimoto XB35 Ballast and XB 5500K bulbs with the Retrofits. I pulled it in the garage and pulled the blinds to try to get an idea of the adjustments and I can definitely tell the passenger side is way to low, but won't mess with it until I can get it out at night to measure it off and really set it up right. Also tossed some LED's in the stock fog housings so we'll see how that goes. My new Wheelskins cover came in the mail yesterday too so I installed that next. The fit and finish is really nice and the install was going really well until the stitching broke!! It turned out pretty good overall, but would have been great if that didn't break.

I almost forgot about this one. When I first bought the truck back in December and cleaned it up I taped off 1/2 of the tailgate cap and used some of the Bondo Plastic restorer that I picked up on the clearance rack at Advance Auto. I didn't think anything about it today until I watched the truck and noticed my old tape line. I must say, I'm pretty impressed with it because the truck sat outside the last 5 months through winter and stayed pretty dark. I was going to leave it for a while longer, but the weather is too nice out now so I coated the rest.

Sure felt good to get out to shop today and clean up and put away from the remodel jobs...
