I'm finally getting my 4 post lift installed. Is there any advice, Tips Trick's? Things to look for before they leave?

Any advice would be helpful.

Depends what your going to put on it...

My car isn't heavy enough so I bought grip tape for the ramps but that's only if you have a light car.

Other than that it's great! No issues here

The cables may need to be adjusted after the first couple of uses with real weight on it. Have the installer show you how to adjust them...

I had the lift installed today. I will post pictures when the sun comes back out. It is a Pro Park 9 Plus. They included the oil with the delivery and install charge. This lift is so heavy it took a small crane for them to install it. LOL So far so Good. I bought the 4500 sliding jack and steel covers to make it a solid platform. It also came with a Jack Tray, Drip Pans, and Caster wheels.

Now if I could just find a Garage Door company by me that new what a High Lift Is? I have had several company's here and none of them after a week have called with an estimate. Just might have to do this myself.

Where is here? Might be able to help if we knew where!

Nice upgrades! I've been toying with the idea of the jack but so many things out there I want!

My DL ProPark 8K Plus gets installed Monday. Got the bridge jack too. Can't wait. And Jazz, I've been reading up about chattering issues with some of the DirectLift's when going up and down - especially when there is no weight on them. It seems that this hydraulic oil additive from Caterpillar is the magic elixir. Went to my local Cat dealer yesterday and grabbed two bottles.

http://www.petersoncat.com/sites/all/sites/default/files/files/hydraulic_oil.pdf

And the ISO 32 oil can be purchased at your local Home Depot.

Good luck with yours! I recently installed a Challenger 9000 lb 4-poster, and same accessories as you.

The rolling jack is great. I was gonna get the air option for it, but I think I prefer the hand pump.

I had mine bolted down. I got nervous after I almost lost my truck off the lift. I started to let it down and one of the safety catches hung. By the time I noticed, the lift was ****-eyed and the truck was just about ready to roll off the lift! Anyway, just be careful, that's the main thing.

So Fare so Good. My only issue is that my Garage is only 20' Deep. It is a 4 1/4 car but not as deep as i would like. Trying to find a garage door company now.. What a pain.

This Lift is a beast. It is very heavy Duty and Can not wait to start using it. What do you all do for changing oil? A sliding oil Pan, A Floor one or a regular Oil change bucket on the jack stand or solid cover?

I got just the thing for changing oil. I bought this unit from Northern Tool. It is PERFECT! Drains the oil directly into my transportation jug, and then I can easily take it to local shop where they use waste oil for heat.

I use and like this. Easily rolls into place and can be quickly adjusted to needed height. Oil filter can be just dropped into pan when spun off.

I will admit that I would prefer this style over mine IF I had a garage heater that burned used oil. But since I need to cart my used oil off site, then I think my style makes a little more sense. Saves a little bit of oil handling..........

I was originally looking at this model for the same reason you state. Does it wobble allot?

This is the model I have been wanting after seeing all of this. How do you get the oil out of it and into another container?

I'm still trying to find some one to install a high lift. I really can not believe this is that hard to do or find some one that knows how to do it? I love when they say on the phone that they do allot of these and then when they get here. Oh wow I'll have to get back with you. :dunno:

Like I said, I considered one of this style. But you need to handle the oil an extra time, which is a PITA IMHO.

Also, on my oil drain, notice the elongated pan. I find that very handy because when you first remove a drain plug, the oil can piss out pretty good horizontally. The elongated pan helps ensure that you catch every drip.

Either style (and many others) will get the job done......

I made a rolling catch tank today. I bought the economic model from northern tool and welded on site guide bars. It can move north and south as well as east and West.

Note the drain valve for easy emptying. .. It was a few hundred bucks cheaper than the commercial one. In retrospect i should have bought that instead..

The Pan is what drew me to your type. I will be doing transmission work and have been looking for larger pan adapters. Man I miss My shop form many years ago. There are not allot of places that sell shop equipment around here. I had to get my lift from a place that is 3 hours away.

So one thing I'm missing in all of these pictures is the electrical connection to the 4 post lifts. I'm wiring up my electrical for my garage right now and I just assumed that the electrical for a 4 poster would be from above one of the 4 posts. Can anyone show me how your posts are hooked up to power??? Thanks

Cake to empty! Just hook up a hose and crack the valve. Usually empty in under 20 seconds!

Mine is connected to the Wall in Front of the lift. I have the 120V model.

I bought the Direct Lift Pro Park 9 Plus. It was a few hundred more that the 8 but it is really heavy duty. I went with the 120V model. Goes up Fine. My thinking was that I did not have to have a dedicated 220V line.

You will love it. When you get it you will want to know why you did not get one sooner. I have moved mine several times looking for the right place. I also got the sliding Sliding jack and the solid plated. I got 2 of them and will use them for putting things on the lift when not in use.

why did you buy the 9 verses the 8? $700 more. what vehicle weighs more than 5,000 lbs? this is a theoretical question, I know there are plenty of heavier vehicles but for a normal 3,000 lb car do I need a 9K lift?
did you install it yourself?
I dont understand this statement "I got 2 of them and will use them for putting things on the lift when not in use.

One of the primary reasons for buying the heavier lift was the extra height and width. 6ft 7in under the runways at full height allows me to raise the lift and work under it, saving floor space. Extra width allows my truck to fit through the posts without folding the mirrors in.
Spend some time measuring your available space, lay out the posts on the floor, and then spend some time measuring vehicles within that space.

You connect your compressor to the tank and it comes out the hose? Where do you drain it to? Trying to learn some tricks!!
I have same unit. Connect air hose to quick disconnect, close ball valve below catch tray & you pump it into your 5 gallon favorite container. Most auto facilities only take oil 5 gals at a time. This holds 20 gallons. I only need to go once in a blue moon.

duckfatrules, I went with the 9 because it was 400 more than the 8 Plus. I needed to go higher than the regular 8. I have a Suburban and wanted to park it under it. I also Wanted the larger Columns. Also my Suburban weight is around 6ooolbs. Being en engineer I wanted more capacity Plus I wanted the Channel where the Sliding Jack goes. I went with all of this because I got a Price for a Challenger ( the one I really wanted ) but they where over $1200 more for basically the same lift. My dealer gave me a great price on Delivery and Set up. Delivery was going to be $450. and delivery and set up was $500. so I went with that. it also included the oil fro the lift.

I purchased extra the Pro Floor plates to make it solid on top. I only got 2 of them so I can put things on top of the lift. I will use this for my tractor and boxes to get to my shelves. I am loving this lift so Fare. Only complaint is the scratches from shipping and the fact that the Cables when the lift is up rest on the bottom of the supports on the run ways.

LOL

I went to http://www.liftmaster.com/Locate-a-Dealer , searched for dealers in my area, selected a provantage dealer, shot them an email requesting a quote and had a response later that day.
