im sure someone here will know what im talking about.
i think i have seen them before,
a caster wheel that is attached to a leg of anything. your push you foot down on a lever and it rachets the wheel to the ground raising the cart or desk up. push again and the wheel comes back up, cart or table drops back to the ground on its legs.
what are these called?
would be possible reasonably to use regular caster wheels with a homemade mechanism that does this?

the reason i ask. i found some 8" fancy industrail casters some swivel and lock in the dumpster.
i have a table saw outfeed table with perfect height with table saw. i would like to attach them some how to the legs but keep heigth.
im sorry i dont make much sense:lol_hitti

not sure what words to use to search. would be fun to rig up a homemade swivel wheel thing or soemthing to move heavy stuff without cutting legs.

I know what you're talking with, but it seems like its usually a mechanism on top of a caster - not a part of the caster assembly.

For anyone who isn't familiar, he's looking for something like the mechanism you see on this.

The Delta version doesn't need a pin, I have the same setup under my saw, once it's down, you have to lift(pretty hard) on the plate(mine has a long bar on the side) to let the wheel up.

Somehow I ended up with an extra plate, here is a pic to show you the "arm" used for raising and lowering it with your foot.

Probably overkill but I like this guys method for raising and lowering a heavy bench.

I wanted the same thing when I built my little steel shop table, but couldn't find anything within budget.

I got some little fixed wheels and welded them to the backs of two table legs so the wheels are about 1/2" off the floor. Then mounted a flip up trailer jack with a caster wheel welded to the bottom plate on the opposite side of the table. I drop the jack, give it a couple of cranks to raise the unwheeled side and the wheels on the rear legs hit the floor. It rolls around easily and turns without effort, even when something heavy is on the table like an engine block or even a near complete Ford Model A chassis. When the jack has no pressure on it, the legs sit flat on the floor and the table doesn't move. Can't see the wheels in this pic, but hopefully you catch my drift.
