Anyone know of a good oil drain pan/cart of this style that's low enough to work with a maxjax? Looks like the 2 lift lock-bar positions are at 23" and 43" inches. Right now due to my garage door opener I have to work at the lower setting.

very cool, it does not say how tall it is though. It says it telescopes. Do you know what it's min and max heights are?

I though about buying a standard sized one and cutting it down. But I ony do approx 5 oil changes a year, and I really didn't want to waste the space. I just put mine up on the lift approx 3 fet off the ground and I put my oil pan on top of a two foot high step stool. It works just fine and I don't waste any space in the shop.

I did not think about this... now with the MaxJax I need to get something like that to make it easier to drain the 12 quarts of oil from my car...

So much easier to do now without the mid-raise lift in the way.

5’ 7” Maximum Height / 3’ 4” Minimum Height.

yup... a reciprocating saw would be the way to go... and the price looks great. Time to drive to the local HF store.

I haven't bought one yet, as I do not have my Max Jax set-up yet. However when I do I had planned on purchasing on of these:

It is just a tube slip fit with in a tube, locked at elevation by a set screw. I figured a reciprocating saw would make sort work of getting the elevation down to fit under the Max Jax.

We just made one, will have to get a pic. We made it adjustable and just used a big tray, I didnt want to fool with the jug for such limited use.

Just make sure that you'll have a place to properly dispose of your oil. I was considering one of these but Autozone told me that they would not be able to empty it for me. They said that they could only accept a gallon or so per person. Anyway, just keep in mind that you may need to transfer your used oil to an empty gallon container for transport and delivery.

Find someone that has a waste oil burner, and they will take all that you can supply. The fellow that I knows has 2 275 gallon tanks for his one burner. The oil goes from one into the next so the contaminants settle out. Then it is filtered and onto the burner. His shop is toasty warm in the coldest of days.

That is strange. I take the oil back to then. We are talking about 3 galons everytime I go. They have never said anything.

They don't accept coolant... I still have a container I can't use because I do not know how to dispose of it. :headscrat

I dunno if you have sewage or septic, but if you have sewage call them and ask if you can dump Coolant down the drain, a lot of sewage plants can process anti-freeze and say it's fine. Or so i've read on other threads.

Me, I'm a sneaky devil. I pour all the oil back into the bottle they came in, put them in a box and just drop it off at pep boys. So i put bottles of coolant in there too and quickly leave.

Turns out that the local landfill has provision for this... will drop it off next week.

I have always consolidated oil into a 5 gallon plastic jug. Never a problem at a wide variety of auto parts stores.

It is brake fluid and engine coolant that has me stymied.

When I first got my lift I was seriously considering getting one of these oil drain containers (maybe something like an 8 gallon). Anyway, I asked if I could bring in the container and have them empty it and they said that they couldn't take in that much oil. So, I do oil changes and just pour everything into gallon containers and usually bring in 1-2 gallons at a time.

the more i think about it the more fishy it sounds. A lot of states have laws that state any place that does oil changes have to take back the oil, I'm surprised there is a limit to it. I've also heard that in some states any place that sells new oil has to take the old stuff back, like Walmart for example.
