Went to an auction with my eyes on a 36" stop shear / Pexto and a box and pan brake same size and maker. Get there, plenty of time to see what's up.. heck.. going to stick around, lots of shop stuff.. then the auctioneer.. "I'm going to sell the real estate first (hour delay) then get to the tools and then to the vehicles / tractors / trailers.... It should be raining by 3:00pm,, and we should be inside by then.. so ....to wait around for 5 hours to bid on something I might win... .nah.... we went home... :(

Tore an old McCullough MAC 3214 chainsaw apart to put a new primer bub on it. What a pain ... I will have to replace all the lines they are so rotted out, so I'll need to pull the fuel tank. But wait, you need to tear the whole thing apart. No wonder they cost so much to repair.

Just a quick visit to solder together a speaker cable for the PA amp that was donated to our Scout group. Finally got all the cables together to test it out, boy the thing is loud, will make our Carnival float in september rock. Might need to keep an eye out on ebay for a second speaker though, the current one (12" woofer and horn tweeter) could do with some help!

A few small projects including making SWMBO a couple new feet for her couch. Whoever decided the originals should be injection molded plastic ~1/16" thick should be shot.

I have two Dake 001 arbor presses, one of which was missing the round plate. I fabricated a new one out of a 1/2" steel plate strip that was 4" wide. The factory one was cast iron and had been broken and repaired. I believe part of the reason it broke was the 3 largest holes were next to each other making it very thin in between them. So instead of having holes in a 9/16, 3/4, 7/8, 15/16 and 1" pattern I went 9/16, 3/4, 7/8, 3/8, 1". I also made a square plate for when you don't want the "holey" plate for more surface area with some jobs. I tapped the plates for a 3/8" bolt which was cut off after it was tightened down. The blue on the plate for scribing the lines is just a Sharpie marker.

Well that's just cool. I really like the sharpie idea. The reason I ask how many hole positions yours had I was already considering making two plates to reduce the amount of holes per plate. I also like the idea of a square plate. Thanks so much for the impute. I'd like to see a photo some time of your presses .

We had cleanup day at the lake yesterday, so I loaded up the leaf blowers, line trimmer, chainsaw and rakes and went at it.

After running 4 tanks of gas through Dad's old walk behind leaf blower, I figured I should do a PM. It got an oil change, carb cleaning, new air filter and spark plug. I couldn't stand the surface rust, so I took the handle off and polished the plating. Of course I couldn't stop there, so I took the engine off, cleaned everything and reassembled it. Looks better than when Dad gave it to me 18 years ago. The old beast has to be at least 35 years old and it still runs like new.

Got the mower out, mowed the grass, burned the burnable stuff in the pantry, finished trimming the wheel well lips on the Nova so the tires don't rub on hard rights or lefts. Success on all fronts. Good day!

fixed the busted water line in the garage, behind the drywall I just put up 4 months ago. ARRRRGGGG.
But the sharkbite (proline is Lowes knockoff brand) coupling worked with no soldering of copper. Never could sort that out properly.

Yes it has happened to me a few times. So not to feel stupid I go back many posts to read how the thread progressed. Should have taken the time to read it properly the first time. I would have waisted less time. we all make mistakes. LOL

Just got done with my welding cart. I have had the welder for 4 years and never had time to build one. After knocking over the gas cylinder and braking the one hundred dollar regulator, I decided it was time.

Nice work. I used to have a hand truck from HF that looked a lot like your cart. Good job repurposing.

Did you use tin foil on it or.....?

Never heard of that. I went to my old standby- 0000 steel wool & a little WD-40 for the rust removal. Wiped down with brake clean and then a light polish with Simichrome. It's not perfect, but it looks great compared to the brown handles it had before. If I was smart, I would have done before and after photos.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

My friend's has a landscaping business and asked me to fix both rear fenders on his Worktruck. I'v cut and replaced the sheet metal on both side, welded and grinded. Tomorow I'll have 3 inches of spot welding left and then grind the weldings smooth and apply putty.

Also cop a new Neiko Air punch, if you do body work and you dont have one, you are missing out big time.

Changed the oil in my wife's van and built a 4' x 4' cedar planter box. Did not calculate enough dirt properly so did not plant all the peppers I bought. Will finish on Wednesday.

Got the 67 GMC inspected in someone elses garage.
