Big 'ole Morgan on Baltimore CL. A bit pricey?

:" I am flexible on price and details, but am not giving this away" Flexible on details?:

The Reed 1C is quite a impressive vise, everything machined including the nut. I might have to make that one my working vise. The jaws are solid and in very good condition. I wish they were not solid and in good condition since I need smooth jaws. I see why Carla made her working vise a Reed and she also likes smooth jaws. Hate leaving idiot marks in my work.
is it a 6" or 7"? Yep
Is it swivel jaw or fix? Yep
Does it have any welds or cracks, or is it clean? yep
Are the jaws smooth or serrated? yep

What's the story behind the American one? Sounds like that's done a fair bit of travelling.
Never knew that. Was it some type of family dispute which led to the two companies, or just some business progression?
Balane: that badge is cool and i agree to keep it. not all of them have a screw under the front under the jaw do they? very nice as usual and i'm beginning to thing you have elves in your garage not only helping you dry the paint, but making up all these Versa vises you seem to find.
Outlaw: has that list grown much this last year or did you finally run out of drawers and spots to put all those clamps? nice list and i bet you use some of them too. did you start or is there a Clamps thread where CW and i and others can post up a few?

Heres some Wiltons I have..a six inch, a 4 inch and 2 inch baby bullet on a powerarm
Is this the biggest vise Wilton made? What do these go for nowadays?

The American one is this old Fulton, I think I have posted the pic before, could not find out much about it (and what I did find is in this thread) but its real old.
View media item 50408Shown with my Morgan that I got the same week.
It was 2 sons that started Record but one went back shortly afterwards, both companies made other stuff and which was the first to make vices I do not know.
Papa Bear, Mama Bear and Baby Bear!Heres some Wiltons I have..a six inch, a 4 inch and 2 inch baby bullet on a powerarm

Just finish up another versa vise. This pre 55 model was original black and green so I kept the colors but the customer wanted a bit more pop so I put a lil shine on it. Not too over the "TOP" though.![]()
Topop, you and balane got these guys figured out. Nice Job. I admire your handle and meat ball end most of all.
DIF: Here's a clamp teaser for you, all 12" capacity. The two on the left are drop forged, the red one is the oldest.
The left two a are Record 121-12 (weight 13lb), right two are Carver 257-12 (6000lb holding capacity, 22.5lb weight).
The movable jaw on the orange ones can be turned around to give you 6000lb of spreading force instead of clamping
Nice lil clamps.... here's a 8 TON bridge clamp of mine...As you can see it's as thick as a 2X4 and yeah.... It's a stuD!![]()
My latest 2 refurb projects.

Dutch: i think you might have mentioned it before, but how do you like the old US vises quality compared to those that were English made? nice looking pair BTW that you just posted.
TOP: I haven't seen one of these Versa Vises in person and if i didn't own a baby bullet with a power arm and clamp I'd be on the non stop search to find one. i have watched the video. also nice clamp and is that just wire brushed and BLO because i have several almost identical to that clamp and talk about well built.
versa vise video
Hounddog: nice looking vise and i think you might have captured the ARREST ME RED that Oldie has been wanting to paint his 519x Craftsman when it finds a home on his bench. nice work.
ALL: i started a clamp 101 thread in the vintage tool section for those of you that might have a few to post. also showing them in use and maybe telling history of the companies that made them might be fun and we'll see where it goes. here's the link
