Just got a weird Jedi feeling that I needed to stop at the thrift store today.
They had this old Craftsman 16oz claw hammer. It's weird! Handle is stained like fine furniture. I don't know if they came that way or not. But it's got texture engraved into the wood that makes it look like a wood carving of an Estwing rubber handle.
I'm not sure if they came with the rubber end cap or if it's just something someone stuck on there. Seems like a stock part though.
It's also got a nail puller claw built in to one of the tines on the main claw. Never seen that before either! Weird!
The Snap-On pry bar is even stranger to me. It's a model SPB8A which I would think came with an 8" blade? But this one is WAY longer. This blade is a full 10.5" sticking out of the handle.
I thought it was a messed up screwdriver until I got it home and realized the shank is square. It looks like a screwdriver because someone has (I think) ground off the wings of the blade so that it's exactly as wide as the rest of the shank.
Never owned a prybar that didn't have a bend in it before. Not sure how I'll every use this weirdo!
The orange handle does seem to have a little bit of extra melted plastic where the shank is inserted. Makes me wonder if someone (maybe even a SO dealer?) stuck this shank into an old handle from a different tool.
I also got a really large Kobalt framing hammer. The head is pretty rusty and sitting in the electrolysis tank right now.
I think it's in the 22-23oz range. Waffling looks pretty good! And the rubber handle is in perfect condition. It's clearly made by Estwing and looks identical to their framing hammers.
My 11 year old has already claimed this one because it's "Tyrees's hammer."
I got all three of them for a dollar each. $3 total. Not a bad haul for 2 minutes of browsing time!
