Today's thrift store finds...

Just got a weird Jedi feeling that I needed to stop at the thrift store today.

They had this old Craftsman 16oz claw hammer. It's weird! Handle is stained like fine furniture. I don't know if they came that way or not. But it's got texture engraved into the wood that makes it look like a wood carving of an Estwing rubber handle.
I'm not sure if they came with the rubber end cap or if it's just something someone stuck on there. Seems like a stock part though.
It's also got a nail puller claw built in to one of the tines on the main claw. Never seen that before either! Weird!

The Snap-On pry bar is even stranger to me. It's a model SPB8A which I would think came with an 8" blade? But this one is WAY longer. This blade is a full 10.5" sticking out of the handle.
I thought it was a messed up screwdriver until I got it home and realized the shank is square. It looks like a screwdriver because someone has (I think) ground off the wings of the blade so that it's exactly as wide as the rest of the shank.
Never owned a prybar that didn't have a bend in it before. Not sure how I'll every use this weirdo!
The orange handle does seem to have a little bit of extra melted plastic where the shank is inserted. Makes me wonder if someone (maybe even a SO dealer?) stuck this shank into an old handle from a different tool.

I also got a really large Kobalt framing hammer. The head is pretty rusty and sitting in the electrolysis tank right now. :)

I think it's in the 22-23oz range. Waffling looks pretty good! And the rubber handle is in perfect condition. It's clearly made by Estwing and looks identical to their framing hammers.
My 11 year old has already claimed this one because it's "Tyrees's hammer."

I got all three of them for a dollar each. $3 total. Not a bad haul for 2 minutes of browsing time!

Good to know! Love my Vaughns!
I have the rip version and it is one of my favorites. I use it the most but those estwings just have something special with that rubber grip, can't say what though.

Every time that I go to a "thrift" store all that I find is the same junk that I am trying to clear from my garage!

I have 2 of those hammers, bought like 15 years ago at sears. Both have the rubber end cap and nice finish.

I went again yesterday and got some more goodies.

Several old USA made Stanley screwdrivers in very good shape for 25 cents each.

Another Estwing 22oz framing hammer (smooth face) for 50 cents.

Several pairs of old Fuller pliers and wire dykes for 50 cents each.

And I got a nearly complete set of SAE wrenches for 2 bucks. It's a mix of Husky and some off brands. But really nice!

And the mother of all amazing finds...A black handled Snap-On SSDMR4A Magnetic Screwdriver, BRAND NEW IN THE BOX! It has all 5 bits and it in perfect condition. It was marked at 5 bucks but the lady gave me a cash discount and sold it to me for ONE DOLLAR!

They also had a 6 D-cell Maglite for 2 bucks that I didn't buy for some reason. I'm gonna go back and get it this morning.

The one on my way home from work had a Freud dado blade for $3. I also bought a crock-pot for $15. In case anyone's wondering, a crock-pot full of Pine Sol, left bubbling overnight, will clean carburetors up like you wouldn't believe. A friend has a pair of carbs that might get the treatment soon.

I did not know that! My wife will be thrilled because she hates when I get grease and **** in her sonic cleaner.

A $3 dado is a steal!
