BS 1.0 now on its way to Baz, really enjoyable read, some great stories, happy to be part of the books travels
It's waiting at the post office for me to collect. Due to work and other commitments I'll have to wait until tomorrow morning to pick it up.
Someone remind me where it goes after I'm done!
Beltsville Shell 1.0 Heading Home
Unless someone else steps up that wants to read Beltsville Shell while it's in the UK or Europe, you're the last on the list so you're the lucky guy who gets to ship it back to me. I'll PM you with my mailing address. For those who have been waiting for it to return to the USA, would you please post here or send me a Private Message and we'll do a North America circulation tour for a while and then I'll send it off to Australia where there are at least 2 gentleman there who wish to read it. That's the plan for now.
For the last couple of days the barn has been turned back into a race shop. Roland and Lou have returned from San Diego and they brought some cool cars they're prepping for the 2nd annual Brickyard Vintage Racing Invitational, June 11 - 14. I'll post some pictures from that.

I take my son out to IMS for everything, and the SVRA meet last year was BY FAR the coolest thing. All of the teams were friendly, invited a (then) 3 year old kid with wide eyes to sit in the cars, signed the hero cards, and basically seemed like awesome folks.
We will be out on Friday all day this year, but with 24LM on Saturday/Sunday won't spend the whole weekend like last year.

...as is the Lotus 19. Talk about sticky tires; note the leaves and debris that's sticking to those tires from off loading from the trailer and rolling the car along my lane and into the barn!

I could have done that Dennis but it would have taken much more time. That hose is probably going to be used outside so I'd be taking it off the reel anyway.
I have two overhead hose reels...
...one in the lift room...
...and one in the north room that the hose rewinds on and off the reel so I really didn't need a third. It is however, an interesting idea.

I've received several PM from folks reserving a spot on the US list when BS 1.0 returns. Give me a day or so to compile the list and then I'll post it before I leave for Indy.
This coming week is Vintage Indy racing...
...so if you're in the Indy area Thur, Fri, Sat or Sunday stop on by and say hi! The paddock and all the garages in Gasoline Alley are open to the public. You'll have access like you never get at the 500 race.

dhall - welcome to our world. It's very large and diverse - encompassing all 7 continents. The book needs to take this journey and collect the actual signatures, not digital ones. Having a book in hand is the point to get the full impact. We also don't want to infringe on the author's copyright. And it's the journey that's the point!

Most assuredly, Sweet Old Bill (and anyone that I scared!). And it's not a required test (more a "quest" anyway). I'm just so busy keeping the current homestead in "showable" conidition for realtors until we get this sale closed and working at our apartments getting leases signed, that it's left little time to work on the quest (and Tom keeps adding material, too).
We could have ended this thread after the initial before/after pictures. It's become so much more and even more fun (which we couldn't have anticipated either). The Thread is so full of knowledge at this point, that it's popping at the seams! (A huge THANK YOU to Ryan for his generosity in letting this continue past 3mil posts.)
Here at The Center of the Universe, we just enjoy visits, either virtual or real. We seem to have visitors show up every day unannounced at the shop. That and spreading the fun is the actually purpose which we had no idea would happen when we first started this thread to document the renovation.
Don't get me wrong, we love the visits, as long as people know we have work going on (preparing for races/shows, mowing, work on the current homestead and the future one). We don't always have time to stop the work flow for unexpected visitors, but people seem to just want to actually see the reality in person instead of through pictures.
I just hope that dhall (and others) keeps reading past those initial posts/pictures to see what the vortex has to offer. We've made lots of friends over the past 5+ years through this thread. Every day's a surprise!

Yes, Craig, the race team is here in force! We're so happy to have our "one cool dude" friend Lou with us for most of the summer. We got back Sunday from vintage racing at the Indy 500 track. Fun week. Now the cars need work to prep for Mid-Ohio. Tom was off getting brake rotors turned for one of the cars. Then he had to take his Chevy II for some work. Then he had to go down to Charleston for race fuel to take to the drag races Thursday. We finally sat down to dinner at 9pm (seems like after 7pm for dinner is becoming more typical these days!). Now he's off to bed for an early call to "test and tune" the carburetor repair on the Chevy II. While all this was going on, I was working on all my stuff while guests were off doing their laundry and shopping. Busy day in The Center of the Universe (altogether, with the errands all of us were doing, I think we put about 200 miles on the three vehicles). Glad the rain held off until 8pm.

Weeks of reading this thread, now I seem to have reached ATP, weeks of drooling over an amazing shop and cracking cars... Loving the story of BS1..0 and I missed the UK round by a matter of days [emoji20] I would love to get a chance to read this before it leaves Europe!
I can't begin to express how enjoyable the 10 year in 4/5 week journey has been, Thomas and Chris, I feel like I know you and I have so much admiration for the both of you. I am now ready for the test......

BS also has another page marker included now.
Here's some pictures in the old shop using the vintage Sun Engine Performance Analyzer.
Everything looked good on the scope. That Analyzer comes in handy with the older cars.
I'm getting the '66 coupe ready to drive over to the Bloomington Gold Corvette Show.
That's the big Corvette show being held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway this week.
They'll get over 4,000 Corvettes at that event and I'd like it to look its best. Bad part is rain is forecast for the drive over. No worries, these cars are made for driving.

Happy Independence Day!! We attended the parade then had a barbeque with friends and car show on Main Street in Seymour, IL today. The parade lasted 45 minutes with LOTS of candy thrown to spectators.
(Seymour population, approx 300 - Today, over 1500 spectators).
Kids (and adults) came away with a bigger haul than at Hallowe'en! Every antique tractor in the area was there along with rural and volunteer fire department trucks. The weather was beautiful and the Midwest hospitality was, as expected, superb!
We're looking forward to going back out tonight for the hour-long fireworks display. Not a bad way to spend a summer Saturday.
