Vessel's new "Woody" series screwdriver uses wood fibers and plastic resins (70/30 ratio) to create the world's first hybrid grip of its kind.

vessel-dr-300-3.jpg

In addition to providing that feel of a wood grip screwdriver, it claims to be the most significant anti-slip screwdriver while being operated under oily/slippery conditions.

Here's an illustration of that in numbers:

I'm not sure where their 370 series fits into that picture though:

Yeah, I suppose the non-slip idea is similar ... and you mean the MicroFinish ;)

wiha_microfinish.jpg

Vessel's concept is derived from the wood handle screwdrivers from the past. Both wood and plastic screwdriver handles have their benefits and downfalls. Vessel's concept merges the benefits of the wood handle to the modern plastic handle to make it a unique hybrid.

My newest crimper..... been wanting one that can decently crimp some pretty tiny non-insulated terminals.

Yeah, big box stores like Tokyu Hands and BIC Camera set their retail prices higher in general, whether it's domestic or import brands. Next time, go to Akihabara and visit the smaller stores. :)

Does anyone happen to own this Stubby Vessel ratcheting screwdriver? SO's stubbies are way to fat. And for $16 for this set its hard to go wrong.
Chime in If You own any Vessel ratcheting screwdriver I would like to know the teeth number and how the backdrag is. Thanks

Tone RH3FHX 3/8" drive flex head ratchet, KTC 7mm hex socket and Vessel screwdriver and clip remover.

COO = Taiwan, correct?

I have the stubby version.

The tooth count is on the coarse side...probably around 40? The mechanism itself is nothing to be amazed about. The back drag is heavier than it should be, but it works, nonetheless. It lives inside my home, for the small home box. For the cheapy price, one can lower their expectations (?) :)

I agree with what superautobacs is saying. I have the full size ratcheting screwdriver and was a little disappointed, but for the price, it is alright.

I have two of the Vessel stubbies and one of the full size ratcheting screwdrivers. The stubbie package says 20 gear teeth (forward angle 18). I just counted the clicks on mine and 20 is correct. The mechanism is nothing fantastic but the price is low and it does the job.

BTW, my Vessel ratcheting screwdriver is "Assembled in Japan". Do you guys remember if your product packaging is written with that statement?
FWIW, one of my other Vessel products (their hammer, IIRC) was marked "Made in Thailand". ....which isn't a surprise since Japanese manufacturing has had a lot of presence in Thailand, and Vessel is one of them, with a factory in Thailand for some years now.

The ratchet is marked Japan and I think the display card that was attached to it said Product of Japan.

Man that handle on the tone ratchet sure looks very similar to that found on the new Blackhawk pear head ratchets. I think there might be a connection :dunno:

Tone was one of the early adopters of high tooth-count ratchets in Japan. When they introduced their 72-tooth pearhead ratchets people were led to believe they were a Japanese product, when in fact they were imports from Taiwan.

If the RH3FHX is marked with "Japan", it's a bit deceptive and misleading.

Their new lineup is still imported from Taiwan. Newtools/Hi-Five is definitely one of their sources (probably their primary source).

Superautobacs,

I checked my ballgrip models and one of them was indeed Thailand.

Nothing better than those Ko-ken Z sockets. I have the same RS2400MZ/12. They truly are the best sockets I have ever used. Very tight fit and in my opinion they look very nice. I'm almost sick of all the shiny chrome stuff...

I just purchased a couple of screw drivers from my local Sears store that reminded me of post #1127. I picked up one slotted and one Philips with interchangeable blades and what do you know they are made in Japan. Can't wait to test them out!
