Hey y'all! I'm very happy to share my build with you! Lots of great info and ideas come from this place.

We bought our house in February and the attached garage is full. I have long needed a place to work on my projects! The new garage will be a 24x30x12 steel building. It will not be super fancy like most on here, but it will have the tools needed for the project I get myself into. We have 1 tree in our yard that basically determined the size of the garage. My wife wouldn't let me cut it down... lol! It will be next to the garage hints the name of this build. I will post pics of the progress. It may be slow so please be patient. They started the concrete work today. I also added a pic of the newest project.

I look forward to seeing your progress. I am most likely going to go the same route, shade and everything.

Got the pipe laid for the electric. The concrete guys should be out tomorrow to start forming up the driveway.

Looks like a good start! I am also in Texas, near Houston. I plan to start a 24'x30' metal building in August or September. What kind of building are you going with?

Thanks! I haven't purchased one yet. I have quotes from a couple companies. I'm going to have to chose one by next week. It will either be Metal Mart or a smaller local company. They both quoted within a couple hundred dollars of each other for the weld up building. Most likely will go with the little guy. I like to support small business when I can.

I hear you on that one. Support local business is a good thing. I'm going to follow this build for sure.

They are here to pour the drive! :)

Pics are necessary on that:thumbup:

Question......on your slab, there is a small step around the top. Is that for the metal to sit on and sort of close off the bottom of the panels? I've never seen that done before. :dunno:

Pics to come. Yes the lip is for the steel. I'm new to weld up buildings. My builder told me to have it done this way. Seems like a good idea?

Moving along! I had them add the small pad for the compressor. I will build a small enclosure around it with good ventilation to help keep the noise out of the garage.

54 yards of concrete is done. The F150 has about 6 inches of room front and back. Building will be next! :)

What was the cost of just the slab for the garage? trying to get a general idea of what it will cost for a 24x32, but I am in South Carolina, so it could be different.

Nice looking project! I have friends and cousins in and around Georgetown.

Thanks! Georgetown is a nice area. I wouldn't want to live any closer to Austin.

I got multiple quotes in my area. They ranged from $3500-$6600. The guy I went with was $5500. There were huge differences in the price of the slab because of the way they "thought" it should be done. Mine has 18" wide and 30" deep footers. It also has two footings through the middle. My slab is also 6" deep. I didn't know alot about concrete or the process. It was a learning experience for sure!
