So I was finally able to find a penny deal and I was completely surprised by it too. Dewalt reciprocating saw (DW304PK) in-store computer showed up as $25. By luck I was able to find one right on the shelf and I was willing to pay the amount. Took it to pay the price and had my picture of their in-store clearance price ready. It freaking scanned a penny. Of course the associate said there was a mistake and got the manager. Manager gave me some BS about how they can only charge the last clearance price that they had listed. Unfortunately, I was on my lunch and I didn't have the time to argue with him and ask him to get corporate involved. Used military discount and still walked out with brand new saw clearance @ $23.88 though. Next time I will go through SCO and I will make sure I have a copy of the correspondence from corporate. I still consider it a big win and owe it all to you guys. Thanks!!

I'm relatively new to GJ. I've read many interesting topics. This forum has been really informative and paid off today. I went to HD to buy insulation and went over to the garden department. Dang if I didn't find one of the 4-gallon backpack sprayers listed here a couple of pages back. It was on the shelf with other sprayers and didn't have a tag on the shelf. The box did not have a yellow sticker but it had a sticker to hold for the 4/19 spring black Friday event. I checked the price at the register and it was $.01! I scanned the insulation and added the sprayer. Purchased all with no problem.

I checked another item I found on the clearance rack and it showed up for a bit less than the sticker on the rack. Still not a good deal but its price is declining. So, what I have learned here and witnessed in person is that clearance item prices are fluid. I think the penny items should be listed here because they are just clearance items that have just fallen through the various clearance prices to the bottom of the ladder.

Steve

Steve,

Congrats on finding the penny deal. Went shopping today prepared with a list of items noted on this site, as well as the Slickdeals site. Unfortunately, didn't find anything on the list at the prices others are finding them for (checked for the Milwaukee 13" Cube Jobsite Box, Hampton Bay 60" Industrial Ceiling Fan, 41" Husky Top/Bottom Tool Chest Combo, and the 22" Pro-Grade Rolling Tote - all at regular price w/exception of rolling tote which was not available). However, on a chance I walked through the garden section and saw 4 of the sprayers you noted above. They were place on the rafter just out of reach, but with the use of a nearby rake - an employee walked by when I was getting one of the units down, and yes he of course didn't offer to help - I was able to get one down. Took it to SCO and it too rang up a penny. With the wife's assistance, went back and got the other 3 - she caught them as I pulled them down with the rake - and we bought all 4. Attendant came over when we were scanning them, stated that I was lucky as they had recently been discounted and wished me well with my purchase.

Most times I go out I find at least one penny item - sometimes small or inexpensive items, but I have been lucky and do not spend an inordinate amount of time doing so (as noted prepare for the trip by making a list and do not get too disappointed when I don't find the elusive miter saw or other big ticket item). Guess it is the "thrill of the hunt" that makes it fun and exciting. And in the end, my son and other family enjoy the bounty (I do not sell items only for personal consumption or family). Hope that you continue to enjoy the "hunt" and I would ask that folks continue to post their finds on this site as I enjoy reading about your hunts and the successes.

Found a store with 2 of those penny sprayers. They had a sticker placed over the barcode with a different hand-written SKU on it and said $10.

I could have easily pulled the sticker off, but I really didn't want it anyway.

Oh geez... HomeDepotRob and THEPENNYGUY need their own "HD penny thread"... just like the extreme couponers need their own tv show. Bragging about your penny deals hasn't helped the normal people looking for deals that are actually possible to find.

Dude, go look up the definition of the word bragging before you use it please. This is a very much needed thread on HOW TO get great prices. Maybe we need a thread on HOW TO get a life.

Used to work at HD. The penny items are meant to be removed from the floor and at the time of my employment were never sold. Usually they would be adjusted to be purchased at cost or removed from the floor all together. Glad to see some are snagging the deals!

I need to look for that backpack sprayer. I could use one and while I don't need a penny deal, $10 would be fantastic. Thanks for the heads up.

The sku for the flowmaster sprayer is 1001096236. I was at HD again and I remembered someone mentioned they found some units on an upper shelf. I looked and found another sprayer above the sprayers down below. I used an axe handle to tease it down instead of a rake. My neighbor will get this one. BTW this was at the West Plano TX store.

I got a couple sheets of "3/4 inch, 4x8ft, Basswood plywood" for $12 each.. reg price was listed as $44. They were sitting on a cart and I asked an employee, he said they were about to be taken off the floor so they could put something else in it's place on the rack, but that I could have them if I wanted.
I haven't been able to find any of the other deals talked about on here though....

I went to HD today to find some deals. I got a computer but could not find "PRICE CHECKER" app on it. I read on GJ that it's supposed to be an icon on the desktop? Is it on Home Depot's own computer program "desktop" or on Microsoft Window's DESKTOP. Either way, I could not find it. I ended up going on to their Internet Explorer but it was the same as I can do at home.

I walked around the store looking for different color price tags. I did not find much of those. All that I saw were .08 - .06.

EDIT:

I found pictures of the computer desktop here
http://slickdeals.net/f/7695401-hom...d-true-inventory-levels-of-clerance-items?v=1

I went to the computers at the Pro area. There was no "public" section of the desktop. OOPS! lol There is always next time!

Those app icons are able to be removed, some of the pc's I have been to are missing the price checker app.

Best advice is just find another computer.

Not sure if any of those Bostitch deals come with the SmartPoint nailers.

Stu did a review of them and they seem like really nice nailers and have features that arent found in the nailers that usually come with the compressor kits.

Is Home Depot in general no longer carrying the Bostitch nailers? I used the computer last night and there's not a Bostitch nailer within a day's drive that I could find. I would kill for a deal like the trunkload a few pages back.

I noticed that ALL of the Hampton Bay outdoor patio furniture is on .00 clearance at my Local HD. Some of the items have dropped 50% already and they haven't even made it to the .06/.04 stage yet. I've never seen that big of a price jump for a .00 item.

Most of it appeared to be wicker chairs and tables.

Not sure what happened but when I quoted that post the picture didn't come through. It had all that info in it. Is that normal? Maybe I didn't quote it correctly.

Glad you found it. Now I need to find something to paint.

Not a penny, but oh so cheap. Combo pack of Wd40 and the new super penetrant for $2.33 each. Or they have combo wd40 with the silicone spray. Same price.

All of the leftover clearance nails (for nail guns) are dirt cheap now. Big boxes (coil nails) are $5 and small boxes (staples, finish nails) are $2. Just picked up 4 boxes of Porter cable finish nails $2 each and 1 box of Bostitch finish nails for $2. Also got 2 Bostitch brad nailers for $30 each.

My local local store shows that they have the nailers but I couldnt find them.

A store farther away has them on the shelf but havent dropped the price yet.

Hoping to snag a couple of them if I can, really want a good 18 ga nailer. Or I can resell them all and buy an Airstrike.
