^^^ Yay!
Time for a photo update please.
Kevin: nice looking work on the bump out. with 80's and raining maybe you can pretend you are in Maui where it rains all the time on some part of the island. here's a double rainbow i took from my room last month and hopefully you get a rainbow (or two) and mostly sunshine today.
good luck
cheers
Is the bump out getting rafters off of the garage end wall or trusses running the same direction as the garage ?
looks good so far kev.
Do you go out and just stare at the addition and dream about how nice it will be?
Richie

The framing nailer that was being used kept jamming, so when I was at Lowes picking up my entrance door, I was looking at framing nailers. They had a Paslode nailer that will use both 16's and 8's on sale for $229, marked down from $279. Seeing that it was a display, I was able to get it for $195.....10% off, and another 5% because I used my Lowes card. In trying it out, it worked fine, so I looked at the other nailer, and the angle of the nails were completely wrong. I bought what the guy (Dan) told me to buy. Come to find out, his nailer uses 20 degree clipped, and I had a box of 30 degree clipped nails. No wonder it was jamming. So now I have my own nailer
There you go! New project, new tool! (That's one of the rules, right?)
Haven't posted to your threads before, but have read through a few. Thanks for being such a HUGE contributor to the Journal! Following along for the ride, and hoping for blue skies your way.

I've so far gained a new framing nailer and a new to me transit with tripod for cheap. Momma told me that if I need it, to just go buy one so I will have it. God I love that woman
Looking good, hopefully the rain will let up enough to get some more done. It can't rain forever, right?
I had a sleeveless T-shirt on and had to go in and put on a long sleeve. Then momma called me from the house a little while ago and asked what I wanted for supper. I didn't know (as usual) but then she told me that she made Chili for supper
One's not supposed to have Chili in the summertime.
I don't think I'm going to complain though.Kevin: nice to see you are making progress and very happy to see the first wall of the new garage standing and already Tyveked.
i have a couple questions and hope you don't mind.
1) Are you loosing a foot of ceiling height in the bump out by lower the new roof over it?
2) Are you leaving the old roof on over the old garage and just nailing the new tresses and roof on top of it? i looks like all you did was remove the gutters?
congrats and hoping your weather gives you a break.
Kevin great work. So the house is wood cedar sided?
Or cedar looking vinyl?
Since your in rain delay any chance of a house pic?
Thanks for the inside bumpout pic, or as I call it command post lol
I have somewhat the same problem my house is cedar siding with metal green roof and window trim
Have 2 nd building which was photo studio with t11 siding and brown metal roof.
Garage I'm building slowly has brown metal roof, t11 on 3 sides, windows with green trim
And the left over cedar siding on the front over the garage door that faces towards the house.
Just to try and make it match somewhat and look good.
Good luck with your weather.
Sublime out

One wall up yesterday, then we got rained out. Craig might stop this afternoon and possibly tomorrow as it is supposed to rain next week. We are just stuck in limbo with this wet stuff. Anyways, here is what we got done, and for Sublime, a pic from inside the bumpout, although it doesn't look like much.
Building the garage and helping did give me the opportunity to buy a new tool thoughThe framing nailer that was being used kept jamming, so when I was at Lowes picking up my entrance door, I was looking at framing nailers. They had a Paslode nailer that will use both 16's and 8's on sale for $229, marked down from $279. Come to find out, his nailer uses 20 degree clipped, and I had a box of 30 degree clipped nails. No wonder it was jamming. So now I have my own nailer
And it will get used quite a bit as I have a fence to put up between the neighbor and I later on, and the wife wants a couple of arbors made. So I'm set now!!!

Kevin, get some rest man and don't over do it. It appears that your posting here has dropped off substantially since you started work on the addition. You're no spring chicken anymore, take care of yourself my friend.
EDIT: . . . and bam as I'm typing, kevins shows up to make a post.
And don't worry, not overdoing it. Can't overdo it in the rain. Luckily though we got all of the mowing in yesterday afternoon as there is water in the pasture and yards today and it's still coming down. It's supposed to be out of here about noon, but I won't hold my breath on that. And I have to make a lumber run here afterwhile.Does your local code allow the use of clipped nails?
I just ask, as mine does not and it was a consideration when I bought my framing nailer.

Plus you can tell that the garage no ways comes close to matching anything else. It's sort of been a thorn in my side for years, but you do what you can at the time, and back when I built the garage, cedar was not an option.
