I won an Armstrong 3/4 drive ratchet yesterday for $26. But the guy wants to charge me $86 to get it to me. Can anyone tell me if that seems a bit steep, or is that average for a tool of that size?
Bottom line for me, packaging and addressing costs should be included in the selling price. Shipping should be at actual cost.

My guess is shipping price was listed in the listing as all ebay listings now have. Simply put the seller can ask whetever he wants so long as its clearly stated. YOU AGREED TO HIS TERMS WHEN YOU BID! Be a man and pay him what you promised and knew he was asking delivered. To try and worm him down is pretty much a slime thing to do. Now if the shipping was not shown then and only then do you have a gripe. A seller can ask whatever he wants and you have the right to bid or not bid. I am so sick of this childish BS from adults. Small wonder why this country is going to ****.
i contacted him and asked him if we could do something else to lower the shipping cost, and he said that it wouldnt fit into flat rate box, now i am in dillingham alaska, and i dont expect it to be cheap to get here but that seems outrageous.

Man that is crazy.
I'll pick it up for you for a 12 pack of beer!
A 10 pound box from my location to your location is $29.00 (3 days) Via priority mail and $16.77 (12 days) for Parcel post.

BWP- did you see that he's now in Alaska, not WA?
Still don't see how it cost $60 shipping, but I know the USPS has been upping rates to remote areas (specifically alaska) so they don't lose as much money on each shipment.
There is no extra charges on flat rate boxes in the US. ( this include AK and HI)

It cost $63,57 to ship it to Anchorage Alaska, and I have to believe that you live a lot closer than Alaska. Something is wrong..

Not sure what the package weighs but a 10lb package from TX to Dillingham Alaska comes up as $29.95 for Priority Mail.
Mind you, if he is going by UPS Ground prices what he's charging may be correct. UPS charges a lot of money for delivery to Alaska and Hawaii. Since we shipped to most places via UPS Ground at my last place of work we refused shipment to both states in an effort to avoid issues like this.
The large flat rate boxes are only 12"X12"X6". The wrench is 18"; Is there another Flat rate box I don't know about?
