I prepared the Bronco to pull the tub/body from the frame. Have all body mount bolts removed, all linkages, brake lines and electrical disconnected. Now drawing up material list for building the body cradle to rest it on. Also clearing an area in the garage for it (I have a small garage and have to rearrange stuff for it).
Hopefully tomorrow it will be pulled off. I am going slow because of medical issues and doing it myself.
Have a good day all!

I beat on sheet metal finally on Giles, the 68 Spitfire.

This area had been struck in an accident and pushed in quite a bit and creased. DPO had filled a lot of the body damage all around the vehicle with body filler. With the exception of one tiny ding, every spot on the body tub has full access to the back of the metal, so a bit of time with hammer and dolly got the body back in shape. I'm please and now this panel is worth patching versus replacement.

This rear valance still is rusted at the bottom, and the top middle has rust holes where body filler had captured moisture, but I can cut this away and replace it without too much work. At least it looks better than it did and this is real metal, not filler.

I painted up the last of the baseboards that I'm re-installing after we had the inside floors re-tiled. They should be dry by morning for install. Also, I thought the garage fridge and freezer both went out (kitchen fridge just went out and all are about same age) or we had some big electrical problems. I wired in a new 20 amp gfci and all is cool... cold... frozen.

Last night I machined a heavy duty trailer plug mounting bracket for my 06 Duramax. I was tired of the cheap stamped steel one that I had to hold the backside of when plugging the trailer connection into it because it was so flimsy.

Sorry, no pics, I wasn't thinking.

R&R the front tire on my 08 Buell Ulysses this evening. Just at 18,000 miles on it but it was a soft compound Pirelli Diablo. Put a Dunlop on with should last longer.

Used my HF tire changer.

Went so well that I had time to install a Saddleman gel solo seat on the 12 Road Glide Custom.

Spent the day planing and putting together the body cradle for put the Bronco's body on it. Then I pulled the body off last night. Lets just say this, if it could go wrong it did! Mr. Murphy not only showed up he stayed around and had a few beers lol. First a mount that I had hooked the cable to lift it with broke. Then while lifting and putting the body onto the cradle the engine hoist I was using gave out! It just released and dropped the lifting arm (not because of the weight, its a 2 ton capacity cherry picker). Luckily the body landed on the cradle but it slid off to one side and hit the floor hard. So now it is sitting on the floor on 4x4s. Plus a lot of little things Mr Murphy threw at me....
It was fun doing it by myself but next time I am breaking out the beer and pizza and having some friends over to help lol.
Today is going to be basically clean up day, putting everything away that I left out and rearranging so I can work on it (I have a small garage now, the body is on one side and the frame is next to it which only leaves me a very small walk space between my tool boxes and bench). Then power wash the frame...
It sounds like I am complaining but I am not (maybe venting lol). I love this stuff, it just got frustrating, tense and exciting....
Have a great day all!

Rescued the cat from up in the garage rafters. I left an 8' step ladder set up. Cat (named Tazmanian Devil) got out in garage, climbed the ladder, and frolicked in the stuff up in the trusses - siding pieces, a pool ladder, a sled, etc. Only problem was afraid to jump down (~2 1/2-3') to the ladder top. Came over to me. Cat rescued without harm to me or her.

Started putting my friend's Yamaha Seca II back together after him having the frame powdercoated. Got the front end, swingarm, and engine assembled to the frame.

Nothing much. Just getting around to a bit of delayed spring cleaning. Got a lot of junk out of there. I'll be clearing more out tomorrow. With any luck I'll actually be able to use 2 out of 3 bays before another week has gone by.

Saturday I was able to get my son's truck ready for his Rhino lining, had a small ding to fix and a spot on the inside of his bed to weld up. While it was on the lift we decided to try and locate the rattle he had when hitting a bump and found he had a swaybar bushing issue so we replaced them.

Now she is nice and quiet and I don't have to listen to him whine to me about the rattle.

I had to free up the casters on my 'new' engine stand. I had about 5* of droop with the short block on it, so I flipped the vertical piece around and have 2* of positive incline now. :)
Pulled the front wheels off the camaro and wire brushed the Ford blue paint off the calipers with the die grinder.

Swept up & tossed a mess of ribs on the grill. We had the stereo going, drank some beers, and threw some darts between spreading BBQ sauce.

I've not been able to spend much time in the garage or basement shops.. While I was on business overseas, our home computer got a voltage surge from an electrical storm, and I've been busy recovering from that (new desktop, reloading files from the backup, reloading / repurchasing software, backing up iPod etc. back to iTunes, etc. etc.. Finally seeing the end of the tunnel getting recovered..

Today I made a drill press mobile base.
Last weekend, a neighbor had some stuff out on his lawn for sale.
He wanted $30 for a drywall dolly. I measured it, and decided that it would work for a project I had in the back of my mind.
I offered him $20, and pushed it home down the sidewalk.

I cut off the upright handle, and ground off the welds:

Then, after a little cutting and welding, I had this:

I had to level the wheels a bit, by bending the mounts in the press.
Then I bolted it to my drill press base:

Makes for a very solid and stable mobile base.

Looks good. Just need to trim those bolts down and maybe put some acorn nuts on them. Just my little OCD coming through.:D

Yeah, I only had 6" in stock, and could have gotten away with 5".
I will be pulling it off to clean the DP base and paint the mobile base, so I'll either cut them down or swap them then.

Love looking through this thread from time to time. Last night I installed the last of new shocks on my 09 Sierra. Only 1 broken bolt and had to take the front in to install the springs, but otherwise a success for the first time. Was fun taking the struts to town hanging out of the bags on my Harley. Lots of fun looks on that.
Bilstein 5100 all around now and made it fun to drive again.

threw my muddy clothes in the slop sink after chasing our new pup in the yard while wearing flip flops.

Has rained here a LOT and the back edge of the yard is a swap. Slipped and went head over a$$ into a ton of mud.

Since I was dumb and did not order the Computer Pro, I have no volt meter. So, for fun, I created one that plugs into my Powerlet on the dash. This will work on any bike with a dash mounted Powerlet, so it applies to nearly all bikes potentially.

$3.59 delivered volt meter, waterproof.

I got two in case I messed up the first one.

An old Powerlet plug soldered to the volt meter:

Some rubber hose to seal it.

Installed and in use:

Works great. I will try it on my commute tomorrow.

Pulled the carbs on my ZZR-1200 to re-jet for high altitude last night. Tonight I will finish an 80% 1911 receiver; should take about an hour.
