I have taken to putting a dab of yellow paint on some of my tools to stop them getting mixed up with colleagues tools at work. Got one of those Markal ball paint markers.

Every tool should have a racing stripe. :lol_hitti

Sorry I don't have a picture, but to avoid my garbage cans getting mixed up with the neighbors when the garbage man throws them all in the same pile my cans have a Chevy engine orange racing stripe painted on them.

Unless the paint is to protect bare metal, I prob wouldn't paint my stuff. It looks good OP, no doubt, but that particular tool is barely used!

The second picture shows tools that weren't primed before painting and that's why they are chipping.

So I can see the point of not painting tools. I am doing it to keep them from getting mixed up with other peoples tools ( stuff in my road/travel box) when and if I travel to work on friends stuff.

If you work in a shop where your tools could get mixed up and put into the wrong person's tool box, I would be all for marking tools with paint or some thing....

Not only shop, but think job sites. i see lots of tradesmen mark their tools with paint to deter theft and mix ups.

Here's a sample of how I painted my tools when I was doing installations. It didn't make them look pretty, but it was functional. Power tools, extension cords, and air hoses were marked as well. Even people I never worked with knew my tools and wouldn't touch them without permission. (I was a notorious *** about my tools and word spread quickly, by design )

Paint was a better way to spot one of my tools in someone else's toolbox before it left the jobsite than engraving. Other than losing a weekend repainting all my tools once a year it was an easy way to keep track of my tools.

The only tool I lost in 15yrs was a prybar. It showed up 2 1/2 years later when the exhibit that was on tour returned to my museum. Another worker saw it in the crate and held onto it for me for another 3 months until we met up. That tool has traveled more than I have.

Paint doesnt help sometimes... I layed all my road tools on a piece of cardboard a while back, and sprayed a stripe of Cat yellow on everything... Still find wrenches and **** in my buddy/roommate's truck.. It's okay though, I know I got a few of his stashed around in places too haha
