Thank you!

This week i build myself a bicycle for commuting to work.
It was my dad's old chesini criterium, i took it apart, sandblasted the frame, and painted it ( had to do this 2 times because the first clear coat didn't worked with the paint...). I cleaned al the parts, and replaced some.
I bought a (used) mavic cosmic pro wheelset, striped them an painted them gold.

and this is the result , not completely finished yet.
Maybe thinking to put on a stickerset?

I have also done some welding on my splitty.
I replaced the a pillars, inner and outer valance, and the lower nose sheet metal.
Actually the welding didn't took to long... but the removal and testfitting again and again took me a few days.

When you have time I'd like to see some more pics of the terrace you built. In particular the roof.

Looks great. Fine shop!

Thank you again for the kind words!

@ E12-535iTurbo I'll send you a pm with the adres

@ jyzze , actually it was the leftover from the paint that is used for my workbench. I just put it into my spray gun :D . But Indeed british racing green inspired me to paint the wheels gold and to give it this "look". Vintage cars are my inspiration for everything.

@billyvray I took a pic of the roofsection

Thanks for the invitation!

koendd & pascal, if you're ever in the neighborhood you should come by and grab a beer

Pascal is that an mg in your avatar?

Ordered some tools and stuff this week, hope they arrive next week.

Didn't really update much the last weeks.
But here is a couple of stuff

We finished the terrace

Put everything in its place and made a detachable vice and bench grinder.
Also made a welding screen that i can swivel, so if i'm welding or grinding a car, i can swivel them in front of the window for protection.

Thanks for reading.

Man, That carport/terrace looks amazing! I think I see a hot-tub and an extra room. How about a tour?

Also, What type of stones are those for your pavement? Did they only use concrete beneath the walls? Wow.

As far as the bike, age specific stickerset would be fantastic.

You put that much time and effort into a commuter, I'd start working with a graphic designer to get your possible bike shop's logo up and running as your stickers.

It's not quite the same process for a retail location as for a custom frame guy, but check out 44bikes frames around here and see what he went through just on his logos.

@Boosted1,gtiboy66 thank you!

@sljeme345 tig welding is working great, i've only welded steel and stainless steel. I did a few welds on aluminium , but i have to practice on that in the future.

@Mr_P yes, in the extra room there is a hot tub. But we (the wife) are thinking of putting it back outside and make a outdoor kitchen in that room :D . I'll try to take pics next weekend if i can find the time. The bricks are made out of concrete, you see them a lot over here. No they put concrete under whole pavement.

@kjdhawkhill Yes, i have been sketching and thinking some type of logo's for a while. But indeed, i still need to contact a graphic designer to work out. And off course i have been following the 44 bike shop thread ;)

Like that chain system, are those "special" hooks, or just from hardware store?

Wow mooi werk! Vooral uw indeling van de garage is goed gevonden!
Heb je ook een zandstraal cabine? Of doe je het zandstralen op verplaatsing?

Thanks for sharing!

Edit: + Very nice vintage lathe. Any spec's & info on that?

Hello,

Havent had the time to take pictures, i'll try to make some this week.

@ belgian garage: I live near Herentals. ;)

@ zip95864: Its just some hooks and chains from the local hardware store. But i'm making plans/collecting parts for building a single post bicycle lift.

@ Brunow : bedankt! Ik straal de onderdelen op mijn werk, daar hebben wij een droogstraler en een nat straalmachine en enkele ultrasoonreinigers.

It's an old german lorch lathe, from the info i found on the web i think it's an late 40's/early 50's. It has some wear, but it gets the job done ... for now :).
If i need to turn something verry precise, i use the lathe at work

Thanks for watching and the positive replies!

Are you really Belgian riding a specialized road bike? No cyclocross bike hanging anywhere?

I'm glad I got to see where the (other) bikes are stored. And that the garage actually gets work done it in.

Looks good.

Re: The Stahlwille garage

Does the carport roof just pitch to one side slightly for drainage? Nice looking gutters

Hello,

Thanks, and the specialized roadbike is actually from my father in-law, i just put some new parts on it. I don't own a cyclocross bike, just a koga-miyata mtb, but cyclocross it is very popular over here!

I have been on holidays the last two weeks , so not a lot to update, now i'm home for 2 days, and then i gon on a small road trip with a couple of friends. We're going to visit the Schlumpf collection in france ( Should be the biggest car museum of the world!?) , and then drive to swiss to visit a aircooled vw meeting in chateau d'oex.

After not being able to do something on the holiday, when i came home i got into the garage for a small project. I think i saw it on this site from someone who had made this.
A while back the point of my leatherman knive broke of. I re-cut and sharpened it with my old grinder, but didn't like the result. So i removed the blade and put the house key in it. (And it's a good excuse to get myself a decent pocket knive :) )

took it apart.

Very nice! What is above the windows? Shades with valance box? Heaters? I think I see an adjustment strap to the left of this one.

Hi, that are manual rolling shutters, but in the house they are electric.
I was planning to paint the box, when i am going to paint the walls of the garage so it would blend in.

Went on a trip with my friends to the car museum in mulhouse ( they have 30-40 bugatti's in their collection and much more!) and vw meeting is swiss.

just a few pictures of the many i took.

Fantastic Shop and taste!
What is the make / brand of your VW engine stand ? (I have a floor mount version of a VW factory stand in storage)
I admire you for making use of a smaller space (relative to some on the GJ). My wife noted how clean and bright your garage is. Thanks ever so much for sharing!!
One of these days I will make use of my detached workshop as a VW haven.
I too recently sold a split T2 with mixed feelings (61 double door delivery Kombi)

P.S. The double cab my wife bought as a surprise for me/us is in my avatar (stock height)

Hello,

And thank you for the nice comments, i really appreciate it!
Actually that stand is a bosch stand for repairing diesel injection pumps, i just made a mount for a vw flat4 engine. With other mounts i can use it for other stuff too.
And yes, I try to keep it as clean as possible. That means cleaning up when i'm done daily, and every few weeks scrubbing the floor. But
thats a habit from work( dust free workshop).

thanks don, there are some things i would like to change/add for organization in the future. Life's to short for searching things that you forgot where you placed them.

Thanks for watching!

Awesome Garage and Workshop! You have really done a fine jog incorporating so many items together with ease...

Love the bikes. The wife and I are avid riders... Are those Mavic Cosmic Carbone Pros? I have a set and wouldn't ever paint over the carbon fiber...
