What did you do "IN" your garage today?

This ain't the first time we have had visitors. My old tin shed had a family of FIVE of the smelly suckers, under it; I flooded that gang out in broad daylight.

But I've also chased then out with these chemicals before... I just wish I still had access to industrial strength Ammonia...

The cayenne pepper powder is great for their feeding grounds (My lawn) as they hunt with their noses...

I hung out in the garage all day!! Replaced the amp rack in my car to lighten it up a few pounds!!

From this when I first put a stereo in a few years ago,

Which MIG do you have, and has it been given a "tune up?" (all connections clean bright and tight...)

I have a 240V Sip Migmate 150 Turbo thats about 15 years old, they are notorious for having **** wire feed units, I've owned it from new and its never been great, I added a modification strap that's supposed to help but it's no better, still lurches and stops and then shoots out feet of wire. I could change the feed rollers and torch liner but it's also tripping out a 16A breaker every few minutes which it shouldn't be doing so I think the time has come to stop throwing money at it and buy a better one. It's making me feel like I'm **** at it but when I occasionally get it working right I can lay down some semi decent welds, I know the old saying a poor workman blames his tools but sometimes the tool is defective (and not the one holding the torch!)

That's a nice looking trailer , did you build it ?

Thanks Mike.
It was a trailer I bought, shortened, relocated the axel, welded in all new crossmembers and put on the oak deck. I think I would have been better off to have started from scratch. Still I am happy with the way it is coming out. I had the frame and the fenders powder coated instead of painting.

Well it wasn't exactly 'IN' my garage, but I battled the heat and put new rotors and pads on the front of the wife's mini-van. Van wouldn't fit in the garage now that my Chevelle wagon is back home, so I had to revert to my old habit of setting up my repair station in the street in front of the house were we park. Glad I'm done, it's hot out in DE today!

Added a little bit of bracing to the staircase up to the loft/storage. It'll do to stop someone from taking a fall until I get around to pulling in the walls (Idiot who built the garage didn't attach the walls to the footings AND the footings broke, need to fix that ;) )

I'm thinking once I get around to fixing the walls I'll either rebuild the staircase entirely, as this ones in pretty bad shape, or replace it with a pull down attic ladder. Staircase is handy but takes a lot of space in a 16x24.

I walked into my shop this afternoon, looked around, and said "Screw this place!"

Then I went and had some fun

Bent up some flashing for the daughters house.

it has an issue of non-existant flashing around the chimney that caused some damage. I've replaced all the studs and wall sheathing. It was half way done in this picture. I removed the cellutex sheathing (what was left of it) between those studs and you can see the chimney. Next step, go outside
, remove old wood siding, flash/caulk and replace with some T111, till they put new siding on the house.

Ive been fixing up my open car trailer, it sits most of the time and the last time i used it the brakes didnt work, so.. cleaned and re-packed the wheel bearings, the brake shoes were ok, but i needed to replace some of the magnets, got some new ones in, and my inner fender panels are rotting out where they were welded to the trailer,so cut out the bad and welded in some new pieces, now just have to paint the fenders, and im done!

Put a coat of primer on the first side of the metal window then was in and out for tools as I was upgrading the irrigation system around the house that waters various tubs and pots of flowers including two climbing roses in big half barrels. I replaced the 4mm microbore hose with a 13mm ldpe main around half the house with 4mm spurs off it to the drippers and spray heads. Got much better flow now as our water pressure is fairly poor and trying to shove it down 25M of 4mm hose was restricting the flow/pressure hugely. Added in the three new pots on the front of the house. I ran a second leg in the other direction to water the rest from a second timer. Need to order some more drippers before I can finsih that side.

Last night I moved my mill about a foot closer to my bench and then re-leveled it.

I then washed/detailed my Jeep getting all of last week's Glacier NP trip off of it. WOW, was it filthy.

Hey you went right by my house. I live near Columbia Falls, MT! It is really dry and dirty this year up here. A fire started yesterday on the east side of Logan Pass. The road is closed now.

I just heard that. Do you know how it started? The four days we were there last week we had a couple of pretty good thunder/lightning storms roll through but they didn't produce much in the form of moisture.

They may want my wife and I to stay out of that area. The last time we were there was 2003 and we were chased out by a fire, then we left there on Saturday and a fire started this week. I don't like the pattern.:dunno:

My wife and I love that area up there. We drove out to Polebridge one afternoon and messed around/cruised the area. Absolutely beautiful.

I've been working in the garage for the past couple of days on an entertainment center. The veneer and edge banding are teak, which I've never worked with before. It looks quite dull until you put a coat of oil on it. I decided that I would finish sanding the shelves today and lay on some oil.

I don't know how it started for sure, I think lightening if I remember right. We have so many going right now. 2003 was real bad year for fires.

Very nice, I've also been putting a coat of teak oil on all our outside garden furniture, so a big table, eight chairs and a bench!

Last coat of paint on the frame for the bronco. Now working on the engine and transmission/transfercase (new gaskets/seals/etc...) and should be ready to thrown them on the frame by Sunday. Had to return bodymount bushings (they sent the wrong ones) so there will be a slight delay on putting the bdoy back on.... Having fun though!

Last night I replaced a worn fuel solenoid needle seat on the Aqua-Hot unit in our coach. I noticed a couple of weeks ago when performing the annual service on it that there was fuel under the nozzle when I replaced it. The area should be dry so I figured some diesel was seeping past and ordered a rebuild kit. It came in while we were on vacation last week so I decided to replace the components last night.

Fired it up no more smoking and all is good again.

Thanks. I got one carcase assembled and finish on it yesterday. The door is still in progress, but I needed to make some room in the shop. Now to assemble and finish the other side today.

Pulled the 5.3 down. Overall, she looks like she's in good shape. Going to run a hone through it before I put a new set of 4.8 pistons in it to bump up the compression, a new set of lifters for my high lift cam, & new oil pump/ bearings for peace of mind.
