Cleanef up the electric panel that has been open for a year. I did not make it a mess, I cleaned it up as best I could in 6 hours and then made the wall coverings from osb so I can get in there again easily. uploadfromtaptalk1437791456794.jpguploadfromtaptalk1437791511569.jpg

Hi Spent21

Just curious (or nosy lol) what are you going to put it in?

The daily ride. She's pushing 200k & the winter, cold start piston slap is concerning. It sounds like a diesel. Otherwise, I'd continue running it. It holds ~70 psi of oil pressure @ cruise, doesn't leak or use a drop of oil, & chirps the tires when shifting @ 50% throttle.

I picked up this engine out of a (what I was told) 65k mile wreck, but I can't just swap it out. I'm going to put my cam & heads on this one after I go through the bottom end.

My FIL had a '51 caddy that had upteen miles on it and I never heard it without piston slap in 18 years. It ran well.

Leanne:
Prayers & good vibes sent to you & Billy. I understand the dilemma you are all in.

Leanna, Prayers for you and yours...

Thanks guys.

Billy's mom passed away on July 23. The shop will resume operations on Tuesday. Here he is with his parents during the rebuild after the 2011 tornado (which is what prompted me to find GJ to start with).

Cleaned the carburetor, adjusted the valve lash, and replaced all the fuel lines on the Snapper rider. I think it needs a new battery, but maybe it's on the path to recovery. I need to figure out why the choke / throttle doesn't work at all next.

Spent the morning in it with my son working on his TRX70. Then cleaned up some and mowed the yard.

Cuda: i'm sorry to hear your MIL passed. i still have both my parents and my wife's parents but they are all in their 80's so getting to that point. i just lost my favorite cat and practically died so sorry to hear of your loss and wish you and Billy all the best. she looked like she was a happy gal and if that was her husband sticking out his tongue in the picture i'm betting she lived a long happy life.

best wishes and my sympathy.

Day two of a major cleanup. Pulling everything away from the walls one section at a time, cleaning then placing everything back in a better Tetris configuration. Three walls down
, one to go.

Found an entire ant colony living in my shop. They were in a section of garden hose that I used to winterize everything last fall.

Need to finish tomorrow to get everything back in the shop.

I took Monday and Tuesday off so that I could have 4 days to work on cleaning my garage and to make a few modifications. Day one, got a lot done, but not as much as I had hoped, Body hurts all over. Maybe I will go out a little later after dinner and work a little bit more.

Nice looking truck. Good luck in the "new" engine. I just bought a 302 for a different project (after the Bronco) and the seller stated it was a '86 but casting numbers says differently (87) but thats good because its going into a 87 vehicle lol.
Thanks for replying! Have a great day and keep me/us updated on the install.

My wife bought a 2013 jeep wrangler new in 2013 (duh!) :). It is a base model 2 door. We bought a nearly complete suspension off a rubicon 4 door right away, but just got around to installing today. I think we paid around $150 for the suspension, it had 700 miles on it, and we got the springs, shocks, steering damper(shock), front panhard bar, upper links front and back, front flexible brake lines, and front sway bar links. Heck of a deal.

Anyway, I was told this rubicon 4 door suspension would lift our base model 2 door about 2 inches in the front and 1 inch in the back. All the parts turned out to be the same except shocks and springs. The shocks are same length, but bigger/heavier duty. The springs are slightly longer and stiffer.

We got the front done today, swapped the shocks and springs. The springs were tough to get in, just barely was able to get them in with the axle hanging with sway bar, brake lines, and shocks disconnected. But, it lifted the front a full 2"! And we put some "fresh" 700 mile shocks on the jeep, and they are heavier duty. I think we have around 25,000 miles on the jeep.

We will do the rear tomorrow, should be easier. The heat index was 108 today, and I have no circulation or vents in the shop, so it was brutal. My shirt and shorts were literally drenched. It looked like I jumped in a pool. We are glad to finally get this done though. We also bought the upgraded 17" aluminum wheels (all 5) for $50 on craigslist a long time ago. Again, what a deal. When our tires wear out we will get some slightly bigger tires!

I'll post a few pictures of the shop and jeep tomorrow when done.

Sounds awesome. I am a Jeep freak anyways. Looking forward to the pictures.

Billy would love to find his own home for it but started liquidating his stuff yesterday (his mom's in a nursing home as of a few weeks ago and her care costs are off the charts!!!).

Billy's mom passed away on July 23.
Leanna,
So sorry to hear that Billy's mom passed. With the grief comes some relief. Relief for your mother-in-law whose suffering is over and relief for you and Billy bearing the cost of her nursing home expenses. When we had to put my father-in-law in a home he cried every time I visited.

Cleaned out the floor drain....The garage had a strange odor whenever it was closed up and you walked into for the first time of the day. I couldn't track it down for a couple of weeks and just yesterday gave the floor drain a sniff test. Almost knocked me over. Not enough flow through it and any kind of organic stuff was all rotted

I finished blowing the frozen and dead grease from a friends 1990s mtb shifters. WD-40 can, a little bike specific degreaser and she's as good as one can hope for from a 1990s mtb… I'll get back in there tomorrow with some light lube and then start working on actual adjustment.

The bike isn't worth much, but he should at least be able to enjoy riding it with his kid now. He will need new tires soon, but what can you expect from 20 year old, un-used rubber?
