SiriusXM just sent me an invoice for next years service. I have one radio. They want $179.88 + a $25.00 royalty fee, total $204.88. Last year the bill was $142.45

What are you paying for one radio?

That's crazy. You can call or look on Google and you'll find whatever current promo they have. Last one I got was like $25 for 5 months. Then cancel after you pay and they will continue to email you promo offers.

Trust me on this. Say you want to cancel. I just paid on a promo $20 for 5 months. At the end I called and said I don't want it anymore. They gave me 6 months for $50. You will have to keep calling every 5-6 months but it's better than full price. Make sure you tell them to NOT set you up for auto renewal. They will just hit your CC for the full sub price.

Buy life time subscription.Never have another bill.

That offer is long gone.

If you have unlimited data it doesnt make sense to pay those exorbitant rates when there is Pandora, Spotify, and more recently Amazon.

There is a lot more to SiriusXM than just music. Tons of talk and Sports. I drive a ton for work and it would **** without it. My favorite talk show is Opie and Jim Norton(Formerly Opie and Anthony). Plus all the sports talk choices. The Comercial free music is a bonus.

I pay $99/ yr. I call them every year and say I'll pay $99 or I'll cancel. Works every time.

The do not have my card number. I have a problem trusting Sirius. For a while I had 3 radios with Sirius. The radios were the auxillary add-on that really did not work very well. I cancelled each one. After 5 years, Sirius finally took them off my subscription. They refused to take me of their e-mail spam, until I explained I blocked Sirius and never saw the renewal notices. Then they put me on the mail spam list. Again, I tossed all the mail. Of course I never saw the renewal notices. But every year, the price goes up w/o any extra benefits.

I went on-line and did not see any choices that match what I have. And most of the music is not what I listen to. I think I will print the choices and compare what I have with what they offer.

My 911 Porsche came with six months of Sirius included. I probably used it less than two or three hours in that time and let it lapse. I get offers in the mail for like $5.00/month for five months every few weeks. Not worth it to me.

Like others have said if you call and say you would like to cancel they will drop your rate. I believe you can get it down to $5-6 a month.

I too get 6 months for $30. Last time I called at the end of the 6 months and said come on, just give me a year for $60, and they did!

The price went up every year when I had it. I was only a subscriber for Opie & Anthony, and when Anthony was fired I cancelled. They harassed me with phone calls multiple times a day from 2 different numbers for about 4 months trying to get to me come back. I still get letters in the mail too.

Who needs radio anyway? There's so many other ways to get music. I have an external hard drive in my truck with 300gb of all the music i'll ever need or want to listen to.

The show without Anthony is not the same but still pretty good. They have a lot of good comedians on all the time. For what I'm paying it's worth keeping.

Don't call until it stops working. Some slip through the cracks. I have a buddy who bought his Jeep in 2013 and his 3 month free trial is still going as of yesterday when I saw him.

One other thing. I don't know if this is true. Once you cancel the shut off signal is sent. Some people said that if you unplug power from it BEFORE you call they will send the off signal and it will never be received. So power it back up after like 2 days and the signal will have never got to it and stay on pretty much indefinitely. Again I don't know if this works but I have heard this from multiple people who say it does.

I had it free for six months and enjoyed it. That was in 2007 when my F-150 was new.

My wife just bought me a year for Father's Day as I am driving two hours a day now. It is nice to have but I could live without it. I think she paid about $110 for the year.

I like the comedy stuff, country music and the hairbands (Ozzy's Boneyard).

I have had it in three cars now for over 5 years and never paid full price. All you do is call and say cancel. They get you to a retentions specialist who will offer you a short term deal or full year. The problem with short term is you keep to have calling back every few months. I called last week on a unit that was renewing and after retention was on the line, I said it was too much money to renew considering all the internet radio on my phone.

Instantly given two options, with no haggling:

Option #1- Full year
XM Select: $99 (vs $179.99 billed)
XM Nav Traffic & Weather: $77 (vs $84 billed)
Music Royalty Fee: $13.76 (vs $16.68 billed)
Total: $189.76 (vs $280.67 billed)

Option #2- Six months
XM Select: $24.99
XM Nav Traffic & Weather: $42
Music Royalty Fee: $8.34
Total: $75.33

I am too busy and don't feel like haggling very six months, so the $39 more for a locked in year is worth it to me.

^^ This ^^

I've gotten the $20 for 5 months the last 2-3 times. If I don't get the deal some time down the road, I'll live without it.

I keep getting all sorts of mail, phone calls from XMSirius to renew my satellite in the 2015 Tacoma. One was the yearly at 175, which came to be 220 after their payment plan.

Now there's one now for 6 months of XM Select at 30$. Got to look into this one.

I need to do this in a few weeks. My 6 month free sub. is expiring. I didn't think I'd like it, but a few of the music stations are good, the BBC, a few of the NPR stations (though those I got with regular radio) and Howard Stern is amusing.

Like others said here, the $25/for 5 or 6 months seems good. With no auto-renewal. (I hate surprises on my Credit Card).

I guess they just send you an invoice and you pay by check?

More on the Sirius Radio.

Dear Doug, (we are very close friends, right)
blah, blah, blah
they renewed my account, "please pay the amount below to avoid disruption Blah, blah"
I can call the automated number and give them my credit card! We are not that good of friends!
Or log onto my account, that has never worked
Or Mail a check.

the CD player still works as does the AM-FM. Right now I am too busy to deal with them.

I would go crazy without satellite radio. I spend too much time commuting to deal with listening to commercials and other ****. Plus I can listen to all the college sports, MLB, and NFL I want. worth it for me. I have it in all three cars plus a radio for the shop.

I call every year and get the best deal for renewal. My cars also have the traffic info as well.

Sirius called today. I had a few days to renew. They mentioned the $30 for 6 months offer.

I said that I'd be interested if I could do the $25 for 6 months (I googled for the best deal while on the phone). The operator replied that "that certainly is a great deal and I'd be happy to etc etc etc".

So I signed up. I said that I would not do auto-renew with a CC and they said they would send a bill so that I could write a check. However, two things occurred: 1) $2 invoice charge for paper. 2) it does auto-renew in 6 months at some crazy price (at least compared to discount) of $104.44 if I don't cancel it by then. I don't look forward to having to call (and be on interminable hold to cancel or get a better deal but I guess the game is worth it to save $80 each 6 months).

Here's what I was charged:

Sirius Select (6 Month - Promo) $24.99
Invoice Fee $2.00
U.S. Music Royalty Fee $3.47
Total Charges $30.46

And here's what I'll be charged in 6 months (already set my phone to give me an alert a few weeks before!):

Sirius Select 6 Month $89.94
Invoice Fee $2.00
U.S. Music Royalty Fee $12.50
Total Charges $104.44

Perhaps this will be useful to someone else.

There is a lot of good information in here. SiriusXM has a few different plans available. Here they are in order of pricing.
Ala Cart (select aftermarket units)
Mostly Music $9.99/MO
Select $14.99/MO
Premier/All Access $18.99/MO ($199/YR) *Yes, 18.99x12=$227.88*

Fun Fact: If you owned the correct vehicle and wanted everything SiriusXM has to offer, you could be paying AS MUCH AS $580 for a single year.

We always have promotional programs available, but they aren't always available for the package/plan that you want. All plans will automatically renew at the then billable rates, regardless of how you initiate your plan (pay by CC/kept on file, pay by check/get invoiced with $2.00 invoice fee*could change.)
SiriusXM has a lot more to offer a subscriber than just audio, we offer unmatched entertainment, and we have data services. (I was coming back from a weekend away and listened to the football games while driving for 6hours on Sunday.) Data services vary from vehicle to vehicle within each brand. Services include Traffic, Travel Link, and Weather.
We also just came to market with Telematics. Telematics is only currently in New Select Nissan products, under the name Nissan Connect powered by SiriusXM.

If anyone wanted to shoot me a PM, I can discuss things privately as well.

Disclaimer: I work as a manager for SiriusXM, but in a position where I do not deal with the public/end user.

I got sick and tired of haggling with them every time. They wouldn't just step up and offer a reasonable rate. Had to go through the cancel, get a deal, cancel, get a deal scenario too many times. They honestly left money on the table every time, I told them too. I would have paid a reasonable fee for a 2 year contract, with NO re-bill, they just couldn't make it happen, so I will never subscribe again.

I just went through this dance on Monday and ended up saving over $100/year for my 2 cars. Think it averages out to ~$10/month per car. But I have a reminder in my calendar for this time next year before I get hit with rate hike.

Got sick and tired of the crappy audio quality on music stations. The digital compression was killing it for me. Went with my Pandora and could not be happier. If you are into sports radio or talk radio (if they even offer what you listen to) I can see doing it, but if you are into music, just pay the increase for data and use an online source.

They have BBC World Service but I'd love if they could work out to have BBC1, BBC2, BBC4, BBC6, etc.

This whole auto re-bill thing has become an annoying trend hasn't it?

Just FYI, you don't have to wait to cancel. The last time I renewed, the CS rep cancelled it immediately after my payment, during the same phone call. Then it just runs until the expiration date thay you paid for. No worries about auto renewing at a ridiculous rate.

Great. As soon as I pay the invoice (and the check clears), I'll try canceling. I wonder if the rep's make more money by auto-renewing or get penalized if they don't do it.

Does anyone know if you've got a Sirius subscription for the car can you install a sat radio receiver and pull in all the stations "on the same account" at a land location or do you have to get a separate receiver? I'd like to have Sirius playing at our shop if it's not too much trouble.

this is exactly right......say you want to cancel the person you talk to will try everything they can think of to get you to stay....just say nahhh I really want to just cancel my account please do that.....well they cannot, they will transfer you to someone else that can cancel your account. Work them over a bit , I have been getting the deal every 5 months , 25.00 per radio, its worth the hassle

I have had a lifetime subscription for well over 10 years. As i don't listen to the music channels, I am fine with the sound quality on the talk and sports channels
