Hey everybody :)

I saw that Toolnut was running a special on these drills over in the HOT DEALS section ---> http://garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=303606

So....I went ahead and made a review about the one that I have here, so people who may be on the fence could check it out and see the drill and it's various features.

This one is Made in Germany, has 4 different speed/power modes, a brushless motor, & an electronic clutch.

Also, the kit comes with the following:

- Drill
- (2) 4.0ah batteries
- charger
- 1/2" keyless chuck
- 1/4" hex bit locking extension chuck
- side handle
- hardshell case
- 3yr Guarantee (with free registration....1yr without)

The big negative would be the fact that FEIN's lineup (18v) is not nearly as expansive as other brands, so although you do have battery compatibility, you do not have dozens of tools to choose between for future expansion on that platform.

WoodstockVA...what's the story on the "Rapid Drill" compound leverage attachment you mention in your video review? I searched the web a bit and checked your other reviews and don't see a source for it. Where might one find one of those?

Thx!

Hi Monte,

That 12v looks awesome! Do you have a model number? Think it will come to the US?

There's a 18V Fein SuperCut oscillating tool on sale at ToolNut right now too that uses the same batteries. Check the Hot Deals forum.

Mine should be arriving today and I'm excited!

OK I have started use this thing and must say I am confused if not very disappointed.

When using it on the highest speed the internal overload kicks in frequently. For an 18v that I bought for HD use it seems to be very wimpy....my 12v Milwaulkees will walk all over this.

Whats up?

You don't use 4th gear in your car going up a really steep hill do you? Put it in 1st!

Remember - this has a sophisticated electronic torque control where the majority of the other cordless drills use a mechanical clutch

The Fein will handle up to 796 in. lbs. The Milwaukee M-12 Fuel Drill Driver is a wimpy 350 in. lbs in comparison

Yep, if you go down to low gear you should be fine. I drilled some holes in a block wall with my ASCM recently and it did it like a champ. I think I was in 2nd or 3rd. I know my Bosch 18V Compact couldn't have done it.

Just subscribing and follow up with any news on Fein.

I am between the 12v and 18v as I have the Metabo 18v albeit with low RPM.
