Good day all..

This was an estate sale pick up that was thrown in a box of junk sockets, pliers and screwdrivers . It's flex joint is pretty floppy, but it's neat for the price I paid for it. ec22fb2105f30125a96503a744ad9b1a.jpguploadfromtaptalk1443797632489.jpgcb1219c5381cd130b11add676b9564cc.jpgfc0b3b2947095f7e46f08b196a8e2baf.jpg

very nice mind if I ask how much did you pay for it?

Hey! well, it was in a box of some other stuff that I sorted through and bought as a lot, so I guess it was about 10.00 bucks for 1/2 dozen pocket screw drivers, some Proto LA and MAC wrenches and a Taiwan 3/8ths extension.

Good deal you get a you **** award.:)

Now you know the next thing I am going to ask you...

So why have you not yet posted up pictures of those VINTAGE Proto LA tools that we are dying to see?

FWIW, I've tightened a couple of flex head rats by reaming both parts and fitting an oversize pivot pin.

Yeah, the estate companies are hit and miss on tool pricing. Harbor Frieght and Sears items are priced almost at retail sometimes, the "pro" tools never seem to be priced right.

I'll wander out to the garage today and snap a couple of pics, I ended up with a couple of Proto tools, and I like them.. Jeez, just in time for me to fill another old Snap On tool box :bounce:

Good advice, I may try but I don't intend on this one being my go to ratchet..

The only thing I have really done with this old girl is soak the head in some trans fluid, I toyed with taking it apart but I'm stumped on how to do that. it looks like it would take a spanner wrench to unthread the cover plate from the body.

First off you fur sure get a you **** on this one. Also twertsy is looking to complete his LA tool boards and would most likely be very interested in those wrenches. If you're looking to off them, I'm sure he'd oblige.

Nice, I think this one might have a tension spring, you can remove the pin, and reshape the spring, or if you need a new spring, I might have one. The A model of this is hard to find.

Snapmom, so how does the head come apart? I took the selector lever off when I soaked it in ATF(tons of gunk came out, but its kind of sluggish feeling now) but I didn't want to mess with it after that

My meager Proto collection...

You have to put it in a vise, and with a punch, drive out the pin. It is a bear to put the guts back in the round heads, do not use grease, just machine oil

So I'm guessing the pin is in the center of the head? I keep picking gunk off every time I touch the head so I may have not found it yet.. thanks for the info!
