Wife and I bought a new house with a 3-bay garage. The bay closest to the house is a bit compromised in the RR corner as the house sticks out there some. Also, the steps into the side door on the addition (added in 2007) block you from actually parking a car in that bay; not a big deal. Trying to strategize/brain storm on how to layout the new place. Like my last place I will be adding a shed to get all the yard equipment out of the garage. My goal is to be able to have more working space than my old 2-car, but be able to park my wife's smaller SUV in the far end bay (Mercedes GLK). The racecar will go in the center bay and eventually I want a lift. My current thought is a cantilever work bench across the entire back wall with a row of cabinets up top. The top of the cabinets will be a shelf and the space between the bench and cabinets would be peg-board. The cantilever bench would allow me to put my toolboxes and whatever else up under there. The funky space to the right side where the door to the house is located is odd.... behind that fridge sits 3 water valves for the water supply and what appears to be PCV pipe for a sink drain. Since the close bay is worthless for parking I may move the fridge to the right of the steps and let it stick out some. Then I'd figure out of I can actually put a sink in around the plumbing... thoughts/ideas are welcome. Will update as I progress! Tons of stuff to do to the rest of the house so the garage won't move as fast as my old one.

A buddy had a really good idea I hadn't considered. Make a big "kitchen island" style work table on locking casters for the near bay that won't be parked in. Loving that idea.

Place looks great! I can't wait to see how you make use of the space. You mentioned just parking the race car and your wife's car in it. Why not just turn the third bay that you can't park in into the workshop? On a side not I grew up not far from there in Yorktown, that is if your location is still Va beach.

Been busying moving in and dealing with a few issues... looks like the house will need a roof sooner than later. Worthless update, but figured I'd post regardless! The fridge that was left in the garage fits to the right of the stairs opening up that corner for far more options. It just barely made it.

Where the heck in VB do you have a 3 bay garage and a 20x20? Pungo?

I'm in the Kempsville area.

Looks like a good foundation - this shop getting Racedeck?
Not sure yet... may do epoxy or try VCT out.

the 20x20 is my old house that I sold in Pine Madows. New house is south of the courthouse complex off Indian River Rd.

Only one of the 3 lights worked. Swapped in new T8 ballasts and 5000k bulbs. Will eventually add more, but this works for now.

Went to Lowe's with a 10% off coupon and found that all in-stock cabinets were 20% off. Went ahead and got 3 36" lowers with drawers and 3 36" uppers. Need to find some light grey counters or make some out of plywood and cover them. Haven't decided yet.

One of the base cabinets was damaged so took it back. They won't have more in stock until 11/19. They're OK quality. I'm going to reinforce the base so I can put more weight on the bottom. Also going to raise them up on 1x3s to get the particle board off the floor.

Had a good Craigslist find today as well. 116" of grey counter and backsplash. Will work perfectly as the cut edge is the edge that will go up against the wall.

Modified the entry-level Lowe's cabinets for garage duty. Oil Kilz on the bottom edge, ripped some 2x6s and installed 3 per cabinet to reinforce them and increase the load capacity of the bottom, 1x3 PVC trim boards, then used composite shims to level.

Wall area was exactly 11' so added a 24" wall cabinet to fill the area over the drill press.

Well pump takes up the left rear corner so decided to go ahead and do compressor and air stuff on the back wall. By pure luck the hose reel ended up dead center. The wall mount is from the old garage
