I have used some narrow ones what do you use to wash them so they are like new and traces of ATF and oil all disappear, yet won't introduce soap or anything the next time you use it?

I would go with really hot water then rinse with alcohol
Not sure if other GJ members have a better way.

After that, use them to fill the lawnmower or OPE with gas.

Simple Green and a rag gets the dust, dirt and residue out easily. Build a simple funnel rack and the majority of the fluid will drain down.

I let them drain then wipe the remaining residue out with a good rag or spray it down with brake clean. I try to stay away from brake clean with some funnels as it does funny things to some of them.

Wipe them with a rag and store them in a 5 gallon bucket. Also keep other oily things in the bucket, like oil syringe and brake bleeding hose.

I wipe funnels again before using and wipe the bucket out maybe twice a year. To wipe the long narrow funnels I put the corner of a rag in it, then push it threw the hole with a long screwdriver and twist.

I cut open a soda bottle (previously rinsed and dried) and use it as a one-time funnel.

I usually would use blue shop towel to clean them, but if the funnel is narrow and hard to clean, then I use brakleen.

Wipe the open end with a rag, and spray it out with brake cleaner

I don't clean 'em either. just wipe em out and leave a fresh towel crumpled in there to keep dust out.

but I have separate funnels for ATF, Oil, anti-freeze, etc. so not really worried about cross contamination anyway.

when they get really dirty, they go in the trash. funnels seem to multiply in my shop so there are always more showing up...

I use the ones with screw caps on both ends, saved a lot of headaches for me.

I keep mine stacked in a bucket under the parts washer. Empty the bucket when it has a noticeable level of oil in it. As to cleaning them before use, depends how dirty they are. If a simple wipe cleans them, good. If not I rence it off in the parts washer, hense why I keep them by the washer.

What is the difference between chlorinated vs non brake cleaner?

As with everything "green" the green can *****. The red can evaporates MUCH faster, and works much better, but sadly is getting harder to find. When the government meddles in stuff like this we pay the price--caulk, paint, etc., etc.

I clean before use. Spray with greased lightning, scrub with bottle brush for small hole and bigger brush all over, rinse with water, blow dry.

Why would I want to put any dirt in what ever I am filling?

Lol, wow!

What the hell are you putting in your funnel? I mean if you had say 1ml of gear lube leftover in the insides of the funnel and then did an engine oil change with 5 liters (5,000ml), what do you think will happen? The engine might explode?

I have separate funnels for oil/antifreeze so it's not an issue for me. Maybe a quick wipe out with a rag...
