I love threads like these... Makes me sick that I cant do something like this.

Really like the idea of collecting rain water like that. How did you do the sewer? More so with the limestone rock.

We are quite lucky that we are allowed to build and live in this type of home! It was actually easier than I thought on the loan part (we did have a huge chunk down and paid for a lot of the finishing work ourselves).

Our septic system is an aerobic system. We had to have a certified septic designer come out and get our permits as well as design it in compliance with the county. I never knew Septic Design was good paying and very important gig!

Been traveling and forgot to update about the Ranch Rig...

Was able to get it all sorted and back together! I also replaced the brake booster vacuum lines since that error popped up right before the coolant pipe let go. Let's just say both tasks were a pita!!! But at the end of the day she is all done and back on the road with no leaks!!!

That made testing and filling the system so easy!!

Thanks!! I seriously can't believe I haven't purchased one sooner. It took 5 minutes to totally check for leaks and re-fill the system completely. This winter all my cars will get a coolant flush and re-fill!!!

Thanks for stopping over on my build page! I appreciate the kind comments coming from you and it also made me aware of your build. All I can say is amazing as I am very impressed with what you have built!!!!!!

I am pretty certain my wife would not be interested in living in our new build but she certainly will be enjoying it from an entertainment standpoint once it is completed. In your case it appears the whole family loves their new home and what is there not to love like us you all have the beauty of the Texas hill country.

Hope to meet up with you some day! I am also impressed by the amount of people from this specific area of Texas on this site.

Morio, you are welcome to steal any idea you would like! My immediate plan once all of the exterior build is complete and the doors are installed is to get power to the building and then start interior walls and wiring.

I think some time next spring it would be cool to have a shop tour of the hill country projects! That is a great idea!

So next on my project list is to replace suspension on the 6 series:

I am very happy with the wheel fitment so now I need to prep and paint the faces, polish the lips and install all new hardware... oh yeah I need tires too

Took Friday off to begin this process but fly away on monday morning so looks like it will take two weekend to knock it out, but overall I should be quite pleased.

painted the centers of the BBS style19s a "carbon mist"


polished up the lips

Just a quick update... work has been crazy busy and I kinda needed time away from projects so I've been slacking. Finally finished building the wheels and did a quick test fit to see how they look on the car. I am now motivated to finally get this task done:

So Cal guy currently living in Hawaii, something like this is my dream for building on some acreage near Temecula or N. San Diego county.

I'd love to see a couple more pics of the inside, the living spaces specifically, what it looks like from entrancing into the home or the hallway to bedrooms perhaps to show my wife.

And whatever it is you do for a living you obviously made the right choice - this entire project I'm sure was no small cost.

Congrats on selling (I think/assume) the old "suburban special" house. It looked perfectly nice for 98% of people but I greatly prefer the new homestead. Really nice.

I'm looking forward to the next phase, the outdoor living and shop spaces. I'm imagining some open sided metal building frames with roof only.

Lastly, I had a bad used German car experience in my teens- back in the 80's, but you seem to have no such fear. I love that 635, just like the one from (80's TV show) Moonlighting.

morio, these rains should have topped of your tanks! we only had 8", but that was plenty. lake travis went up 5'. didn't semm to hurt night train's businees tho. saw one of this trucks thia last week out here. love the 635. used to have an '85 735-one the best highway cars i have ever owned.

We have a lot planned but we have some time to get it done. We are (wife and I) are in our early 40s, so we hope to enjoy for many many years to come! And I so forgot about the 635 on Moonlighting LOL

Yes, we got so much rain it was fantastic. This has been a good year to figure out consumption and we average about 1k gallons a week. Not bad considering 6 people live here. So our tanks hold 15k gallons and we haven't needed to haul in water. But if we ever needed to we will be calling night train's company!

Yes these are two piece wheels, so every hole needs nuts and bolts. Thanks for the compliments!!

Just finished all 32 pages, Wow What a Build. My son graduates next spring and we were talking about this kind of project. It is surprising how cost effective a steel building is.
Pretty amazing how fast you use up space in a large building when you have it.

And space fills up quickly!! I am already planning on a smaller building to act as more of a showroom (finished walls, floors, fancy lighting, etc.) and we use the current as the working garage. Luckily I have plenty of places to choose from!

well, I hinted I was looking at another toy for the shop and I finally sealed the deal today:



Its a 2009 R8 v8 R-Tronic with carbon package. This car is the most exotic car I like and its awesome I lucked into this one for a good price.

The 635 is such a lovely driver. It is such a cruiser and should be a head turner once completed! The R8 is amazing to me. I'm not really into exotics (this is as close as I'll get to one) but this thing is fun!!
