So this is my first thread and I am typing it on my phone in the car.

The Sears outlet in Concord, NC. Store # 09974 has a box of screwdrivers and both metric and standard 1/4" drive impact sockets.

All professional screwdrivers $2.49/ea.
1/4" drive impacts were $11.99 and $14.99/set. Metric were 8 piece and standard 7 piece I believe.

those screwdrivers are great. The only problem is that if you break one they try and give you a regular one

unfortunately, i found that out just this past week while trying to replace 3 broken ones.

the Craftsman Pro screwdrivers were NO where to be found at my local Sears. I told them No Thanks when they offered the clear, red & blue vomit-smelling plastic handled units as replacements. took my broken screw drivers home with me.

Does anyone know if these are replaceable by mail order?

thanks

They're not made anymore, so... no.

Just left the outlet in Columbus OH and they still had several of the 1/4 impact sockets for 11.99 each.

Which is exactly why to take advantage of this great deal and buy a bunch of back-ups and warranty them yourself out of your own stock. At $2.49 I bought a lot of duplicates at my outlet store this last week. When the price drops that low, "warranty" should not even be in the conversation! Same issue with the Craftsman Industrial wrench sets clearance at the outlets a few years ago! Everyone was concerned about warranty! :eyecrazy:

I bought what I could. One of each size slotted and phillips they had. I left all the Torx as they were random and mixed. I think I would rather invest in a more complete set. I am young in my tool buying life and relish the day I can be like some of the GJ community and be able to buy the box full without batting an eye. Until then I hope the next guy enjoys.

Nice. I ran across a 'hoard' of them at my local outlet, They were hidden behind some toaster ovens and no price label on them... But they are at the sale price. If anyone needs anything to complete their collection, Let me know- I might be able to help. Not looking to make a buck, I'll pass 'em on at what I paid. Better yet- I've got a few I might need as fill ins, I'd be happy to trade.

I'd pay you for your troubles if you would help me replace:

3/8" flat blade - regular length
1/4" flat blade - long length
P2 Phillips - regular length
P2 Phillips - short length

Perhaps because it would make absolutely no sense whatsoever to bring people into their Outlet stores and not their regular retail stores (Although I wouldn't doubt it from Sears marketing department)... Perhaps because this isn't advertised whatsoever. Perhaps because the stock is old and quite dusty.

If it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, looks like a duck. it is most likely a duck. I am not 100% positive Sears did not do a special order of USA made screwdrivers just to sell in their OUTLET stores stuffed in a box below all the regular items, but I can be sure it makes no sense whatsoever.

How do you know that? Do you work at Western Forge? Do you have access to the warehouse where Sears stored these for the last 5 years?

What makes you believe that Sears didn't order these up from Western Forge specifically to sell on Black Friday as a loss-leader, a product sold below cost to drive customers to the store?

Why would they order these for black Friday for the outlet? Did they have it in the flyer for the stores? I missed the flyer since I don't need any of the usual door buster tools they have every year.

Outlet, hometown and hardware stores had them, Mainline stores did not. Hometown and hardware have raised the prices to 4.99 though after the sale was over. I would have missed it if it wasn't posted here. never got any mailers from them but it was in the local printed ads.

The stickers on the bulk box even said DUMP. Clearing out old inventory or blems / returns. Lots of them had small blems like non coated tips, poorly ground slotted drivers ect. Nothing that would stop them from working but I could see people returning some.

i just bought a bunch at $2.49 today.... anyone have the checklist handy to see what i'm missing in my set?

:see:

Here is my entire list. If you see 1 to the right then I'm keeping it, If you see 2 or more then I have at least one to trade. 0 means I'm needing that model. I have a beautiful Snap On yellow hard handled collection, I think my main justification for keeping these is the longer handles versions and large P3, P4 tools. They are a bit odd ball but good to have.

Ok, thanks. I missed that thread in context...they closed the hometown and hardware stores near me and they never have had tools in the outlet. I was just by the outlet yesterday, should have stopped in...I like those handles better than my instinct set.

Realized I have a few not on these lists that I purchased long ago. Is there a complete master list of what was ever made?

Anyone picked these up at an Ace?
My nearest store has them listed as $7.71 up to $11.**.
For $2.50 I'd bite.

After thinking Sears was no more in my local mall after they closed a year ago, I discovered they opened a small store called Sears Hometown which carries Craftsman. Most of the stuff was foreign, but I did notice they had a bin full of USA Craftsman Pro screwdrivers including Phillips, flat head, and torx for $5 each.

Would it be worth picking up the Craftsman Pro screwdrivers or Torx $5 each? Was able to find a decent selection of Torx and thought about it since I've been kind keeping an eye out for a decent Torx set, but the items would have been $40 plus tax for all the short length shafts of each size they had. More if I bought both short and long versions they had. At $2.50, I'd probably would have picked up a bunch as an impulse buy, but $50+ was kinda pushing it.

On the professional screwdrivers, why are some of the screwdriver tips of a satin finish? Are these hardened tips?

Also, discovered that some of the slotted screwdrivers, mainly the smaller sizes with long shanks, were bent. It's as if they were used as pry bars and returned.

went by two outlet stores today. One right by my house had a box of these screwdrivers. Some P3, p2, a few torx, some flatheads. I noticed some of them had full chrome all the way to the tip, some had the sandblasted looking tips. They also had a bunch of those 1/4 impact sockets and chrome ones as well. Some 1/2" chrome and 3/8s as well in SAE mostly. Had some of the dewalt metric ratcheting wrenches. I ended up going to an outlet across town because they had the SAW wrenches too so I bought them over there. That outlet had mostly torx. long and short handles, T40, T27 T30 etc. And like three or four of the awls. A couple mini screwdrivers. all marked 2.49. They had those little boxes of sockets too. This is in Houston BTW, spring outlet and Griggs Road outlet.

I bought a set of the Dewalt SAE and Metric reversible ratcheting wrenches and nothing else. I've had the Gearwrench 20pc saw and metric set in my cart for a while now and I have ten bucks in surprise points, but I think I like the Dewalts better. Plus I already have a set of Metric craftsman ratcheting wrenches. There is a sears here that still has stock of those 20pc gearwrench sets made in taiwan. They also have china stock as well. Just looking at them, they seem pretty much the same. Lettering seems nicer on the taiwan sets.

If anyone is looking for the P0 x 3", Sears has them available for shipping right now for $6.29. Not sure if they have any other ones but that was the only one I was missing that I saw.

Have them check the price... They were labeled $5.00 at my local hometown store, but came up at $2.99 at the register. $0.50 more than at the outlet, but still a pretty good deal.
