I'm in the process of building a "hurricane / tornado proof" (resistant more accurate) garage and oriented the roof to include solar panels (which incidentally are one of the first things to be destroyed in a wind storm). System is spec'd at 10KW which should be more than enough to provide for the "basics".

Credits as most know are expiring and the current negotiations / language in the 2016 Federal Budget / Continuing Resolution contain renewals for the solar credits.

Payback period for solar is not attractive, but we're using it to provide "off grid" , emergency power. Panel prices are down but so is the longevity (most claim 25+ years, but the reality is far shorter)

I was quoted a grid tied 9.6 KW system for 27,000 and then the tax credit off that. Still a 12 yr pay out

OP . . . please start a Build Thread in the Gallery section and document your shop with 10 Kw setup for solar.

Update your GJ Profile with a Location . . . County / State / City.

Will your PoCo allow true net metering so you get full benefit of the excess electric you generate ??

What wattage and brand panels are you using ?? All those details would be great to see in the build thread.
