Well you can send it to me instead he has forgotten all about that fan now. With that other new toy and all.

Na, I didn't find one. I was just yankin' his chain. As much as I like you guys, if I did find one, don't believe for a second it would anywhere except into my garage!

Any of you guys have a rip fence for your circular saws? The 5 1/2" that came in the kit didn't have one, but the manual mentions you can obtain one, though there's no part number. I can't seem to find one online. Does it use a standard fence? There's a guy on ebay selling a fence that supposedly is just for the 5 1/2" saw.

The 5 1/2 that came in the kit didn't have a fence?! I have both the 11585 7 1/4" and the 11578 5 1/2" but I bought them as "add-on" tools and they both came with "blade edge guides".

I don't see a part number for a fence on the paperwork for the 11578.

Some how that ebay guy is ordering them from Sears parts direct and reselling them.

Nope. I would have thought it would come with a fence, but guess again. I think I'll give Sears parts a call tomorrow and see what they say. So far, the replacement parts I've purchased have been pretty inexpensive. I think $15 is a little on the high side.

Can't believe that someone paid that much for the C3 caulk gun. The other gun online sold for less than 50 bucks. Not new, but if want the tool to use, not a bad deal. I see there are two cut out saws listed now, the one you posted and another in ratty condition and without any of the parts that come with the tool. I'll be watching both to see what happens.

I've had a 19.2 Craftsman C3 set for years, and the NiCad batteries finally died. When I originally bought the set, I had gone to Sears to replace the then-dead batteries in my 18 volt Craftsman set...but found them to cost almost as much as another new tool set. The salesman that day convinced me that I should just buy the new 19.2 set, since it would accept Lithium-Ion batteries, which I would be able to buy to replace the 19.2 NiCad batteries when needed.

So recently I went to Sears to pick up 2 Lithium-Ion batteries, only to find that I would need to buy a new charger also. 2 batteries and the charger kit was so expensive, that the salesman suggested I should just buy a whole new tool kit...again!

I went home frustrated, with no new batteries, and just used my Milwaukee set for a while. But I need to quit procrastinating on this. So I thought I would seek guidance from the well-informed people of Garage Journal. This thread was perfect for me.

So now I suppose I will add to my Christmas wish list two XDP 19.2 Lithium-Ion batteries and a charger.

Thanks, guys.

Any advice on buying batteries and charger on eBay, instead of at Sears? Anyone have any experience that way?

Here is another link to a guy selling a LOT of 19.2 Craftsman tools on Craigslist:

https://limaohio.craigslist.org/tls/5338713539.html

Again, this is not my ad, and I have no interest in it myself.

Looks to me like this guy bought a load of remans. at a good price and now is trying to flip them. Those are nicad batterys in that lot. Might be a good deal o buy and break up and piece out.

Just my two cents here. I don't buy electronics on CL or eBay. You have no idea if something has been abused or if something is intermittently wrong with it. Not everyone out there is upright and honest. I'd rather buy it new from the store.

That being said, the drill/driver combo that includes two full size batteries and a charger is $120. A compact battery and charger is 70 and and additional battery is 70. That's 140. Cheaper to get the combo. Then, if you sold the drill and driver for 30 bucks each, your price is 60 (figure 70 with eBay fees.). Yeah, they're not XCP batteries, but it still gets you two lithium batteries and a charger for cheap. Then keep a watch on the prices if you really want an XCP battery. I picked up a full size XCP battery for almost 50% off with the sale price minus coupon and points.

I agree. The cordless tools that I've seen on CL look to be pure beat up junk.

I would, however, buy a "new in box" C3 tool off of ebay.

NiCad batteries can be rebuilt for 1/2 the cost of new ones.

I've switched over to XCP lithium ion batteries.

I'd pick up the XCP battery and chargers from the store. That way you know it's new and not something with a problem associated with it. You'll love the XCP's....

My Nicad pack died a month or so ago, but too close to BF to pay full price for anything. Last week I got a Max Access ratchet with a small lithium battery and universal charger for $33 shipped including tax.

I plan to see if I can rebuild my old NiCad pack with better grade cells, maybe some Eneloops.

Was checking sears.com and noticed that they are having a sale on C3 batteries. Some are marked down quite a bit. The 2 pack compact lithium ion is marked down to 49.49

I would like to get the set the op was looking at. I have yet to use an impact driver. I have a 1/2 makita impact but has too much power for a lot of stuff. I really need a 3/8 or 1/4 impact just for taking low torque bolts in and out. Would the impact driver in this kit work good for that kind of stuff till I can get a compact 3/8s impact? I'm assuming they make square drive adapters for these.

Also, Craftsman fans are in the same boat as Metabo fans. Metabo markets a ton of cordless tools but doesn't offer a cordless fan.

Not to dig this back up, but Metabo does indeed make a fan as of a few months ago.

https://www.metabo.com/com/en/machines/cordless-devices/cordless-fan/

Anyways, I'm in the C3 ecosystem now too (along w/ the Metabo 18v). I bought in mostly to get the cordless inflator for my mountain bikes, but ended up grabbing the auto ratchet and miter saw as well.

Let us know if you see any XCP batteries for cheap!

I don't see why it wouldn't work for your purpose. So far, I've used it to sink wood screws and 3" drywall screws into 4"x4"s. I'd normally be left with lots of sheared off heads using a drill to put them in, but I didn't lose one, single head. They all went in like butter. Great tool. Plenty of power. Yes, it will take a standard square driver. I have both 1/4" and 3/8" drivers. They can be had for cheap. I normally see them as part of a kit with lots of other bits for $10 or less, especially around this time of year.

Thanks man! I might just pull the trigger. I wish they sold a all in one kit for more automotive based application. Like maybe add an impact wrench and grinder in place of the impact driver and circular saw. I have yet to see any company offer that.

Is the compact XCP battery equal to, greater than, or less than capacity wise than the standard size Li-ion battery?
Compact XCP is on sale for $53
Standard Li-Ion is on sale for $63
the full size XCP is on sale for $81
I currently have 2 full size, standard li-ion and 1 compact standard li-ion batteries and for some tools the compact battery makes the tool easier to use, but if the capacity is too low then sometimes it's not worth it.

Compact XCP is on sale for $53
Standard Li-Ion is on sale for $63

They claim that the XCP batteries have

1. extreme weather performance, batteries can operate normally at 5 to 158 degrees Fahrenheit, whereas normal Lithium-Ion or Ni-Cd batteries would not function adequately.

2. have a more advanced design, which allows for better power delivery from the battery to the tool. This increases battery performance over standard Lithium-Ion batteries.

3. include a fuel gauge and rubber overmold, whereas the standard Lithium-Ion batteries do not.

Got the small radio as a gift. Love the small footprint on my workbench. The sound is a little thin, but it's a small speaker, so that was expected. Bluetooth works great. It's met my expectations. A+.

There are a couple listings on eBay for multiples of the blower. They're all store returns. I think I'll pass, but wanted to let you guys know in case anyone wanted to take a chance.

What's the verdict on them? Sears website says it does 1075 cfm, hahahaha.

edit: nevermind. Price ***** on them too. $83 shipped, might as well spend the extra 17 bucks and get a charger and battery.

There's a previous discussion in this thread about them. Basically, don't expect to clear your yard, but okay for blowing out a small area of lighter weight material. These have been discontinued and are no longer available. The secondary market is the only place to obtain one. I'd get one to blow out my garage, but not for that price. I'll wait until one comes up on CL.

I use my C3 blower to blow off sidewalks, driveways and the shop out. Works good for that.

I use mine for the same tasks.

It also comes in handy for blowing the sawdust off skill-saws and whatnot when cleaning up after a job.

These blowers got a lot of negative reviews from people who expected too much out of them.

I'd love to get one, but not a used one for 80+ bucks. I used my hedge trimmer yesterday for the first time and it did a good job. Pleasantly surprised.

Been drillin' with a C3 for a while now. Every couple Christmas sales I buy the $99 kit to get 2 additional batteries. I have several drills, a 1/4" and 1/2" impact, right-angle drill and 18-gage nailer. I have two problems: The chucks lack gripping power for big drills. I have a 1/2" keyed chuck on one of them for that purpose. The small version of the lithium battery lacks endurance.

You will love the hedge trimmer I have had mine for a few years. Use it all summer love that trimmer no cord to drag round or worry about cutting. Just make sure you spray it with lube on the blades and it will do what you ask of it.

Speaking of leaf blowers I posted this on the Sear's deals thread since I forgot about this thread.

Anyone know where/if I can buy the C3 leaf blower (tool only)? It ***** to see Ryobi One+ not only has a better tool variety than the C3 line, they're cheaper too. Despite all their financial issues I see Craftsman/Sears isn't making much effort to keep up with the competition- even though they're built by the same company as the maker of the Ryobi tools.

I may just buy the Ryobi one for $64 which comes with a battery and charger and gives me access to some other tools that Craftsman decided to nix such as the buffer/polisher etc.

I have also been looking at making the switch to ryobi due to the price difference and greater number of offerings.

I just took a look at the Ryobi site and, apart from the buffer and fan, there isn't much to make me want to switch. If I ever switched to Ryobi, I'd have to plastidip the tools. I just can't take that green. Was the dark blue they used before so bad that they had to switch to day-glow green?
