Sorted and moved things trying get the right tools in the right place. Trying to decide how many duplicates I need especially hand tools. Sears tool sets are so inexpensive compared to purchasing individual items I'm leaning that way?

Ripped off the front end of my 1978 Malibu wagon, its getting all new front end parts, Tubalar control arms, new spindles, QA1 shocks, drilled/slotted rotors, powdercoated calipers, and switching to a manual steering box, thats all the easy part.. the hard part is, my frame was "Rusty Jones'd" back in the day, and its going to be very time consuming scraping all that goo off, so i can clean and paint it nice..

Played a little garage tetris yesterday. If you saw the before pic you might not notice but it's this constant juggling act especially for the winter to have room for the Harley, the Mustang (summer toys) and still squeeze around them when needed for something in a cabinet.
At least there's room to walk into the house and keep the bike battery tender plugged in.

With all the auto work you do in your shop, how do you perform general alignments? I don't recall you having a specific machine, just a 2 post.

I use a couple of different alignment products. One is made to clamp inside the wheel and the other is a magnetic style that mounts to the center dust cap. My shop floor is level so I adjust for camber, and then turn the wheels 20* one direction, center the tool and then turn it back past center to 20* the other direction for a caster reading. Both types of tools work well and are very accurage once you get a feel for them.

So last weekend, my little compressor finally gave up the ghost. I checked it over & could only conclude that the motor was hitting the thermal overload. It would only run for about 90 seconds at a time before kicking off.
I bought it second hand in 2005 & the guy had it sitting outside his shop under a little lean-to... that's why it's orange/pink.

I sold it on CL for $50 & I picked another one up that is nearly identical for $140. Also got a 1/2" impact, 50ft of hose, & a 3/8" air ratchet that I need to sell since I have all of that anyway.

I've noticed that when we have a blowing rain, water will get between the panels of my garage door, & it drips on the camaro when I open it. I wanted to put some foam between the panels to keep the water from entering which prompted a full garage door insulation...

I put double foil faced bubble wrap down
IMG_20151212_120519579_zpsbqk7xtcx.jpg

Then followed up with some 3/4" foil faced polystyrene

All of the exhaust fans in our house were low quality, loud, & under-sized. I've been buying Panasonic exhaust fans since they've been reasonably priced, & perform well with minimum noise. I had 2 left to do, so this weekend I got the one installed in the 'cat bathroom', then went to install the one in the bonus room bathroom. I didn't get any pictures of the ridiculously cramped space where the intended fan needed to go, but I did get some of the space I had to get through...

I laid some cardboard down & pulled myself through that space. Gonna have to regroup on this one.

I started winterizing the lawn tractor. I pulled the deck off, flipped it over, removed the blades and spindles, scraped all the hardened clumps of grass and **** off, sprayed it down with Simple Green and cleaned it, cleaned and greased the spindles and reinstalled. I was going to sharpen the blades, but decided they were too beat, so I bought new ones and installed. Also greased the deck wheels. The deck is ready to go now, but I still need to winterize the rest of the tractor.

I started to winterize the push mower too. Scraped off the bottom, sharpened the blade, hosed the whole thing down and made it nice and shiny. I just need to change the oil, replace the air filter, and drain the gas and that machine will be done.

Oh yeah, I also cleaned the bagger assembly for the tractor, so that is ready to be put away too.
Worked on the tractor more yesterday. Sprayed it down with Simple Green and got it all clean and shiny, greased all the zerk fittings, installed a tube in a leaky front tire, checked tire pressure, installed new air filter, changed oil, and reinstalled mowing deck. I just need to drive it back to my mom's house, then I can drain the rest of the gas out and disconnect the battery, and it will be ready for winter storage.

In the garage this weekend (Saturday to be more precise) I dug out the hole in the middle of the garage. Found a lot of clay so had to pick up a pick axe, went to down, and now am about where I need to be. Need to do a few more clean-up areas and dig under the existing slab to tie in the new slab, but getting closer to being ready to pour concrete for the lift I purchased in February...

Started building the upper cabinets for me workbench. Didn't realize how tall these 42" cabinets will sit above my taller than average workbench before once I raise them 18" above that...but oh well. The extra storage will be nice, and it's nothing a small step ladder can't fix.

I replaced the shaft seal on the pool pump, only to discover that I needed to replaced the diffuser and housing gaskets as well. Looks like I'll be taking the pump apart, again.

Cut up 2 old plastic garbage cans with my cheepo Horrible Freight air saw so I can put them in a bag in the NEW garbage can. Our garbage company won't take away the cans they destroy. They say the cans must be recycled. Our recycling center says they're garbage...

Got my first auto darkening welding helmet. I'm trying to make mirror image of the bench leg I just finished. Made a template to get it right, then forgot to flip the leg over. :bitchslap

The welding looked pretty good as cut through it.
Yeah, I'm watching the football game now.

Cut a sheet of plywood and lag-bolted it to the wall. This is where my new subpanel will be mounted. I also worked on figuring out how to route the conduit for the subpanel feed.

I worked at the transformer shop of the local utility. Scored a bunch of transformer connection cabinets.

About 5 ft tall, we put shelves inside. Used them up against the dugouts at Little League. Stored baseballs, bases and rakes. Once the transformer blows the cabinets go in the scrap metal bin.

I caulked around the base of one corner of the shop, to help alleviate some water issues I've been having during hard rains. Got all my stuff out that I need to install a new work light for tomorrow. Cleaned the bathroom. Lubed up the rollers on the roll-up doors. Swept the floors.

Replaced the front brakes on the daily driver... one of these days I will get to work on the project Jeep instead of all the other vehicles in the fleet.

Finished a 2004 KIA Rio brake job ... man I hate those heavy little springs.

Also polished the head lights, with much better results.

Looks so good so far, but the floor!

Hahaha. In due time. It was either racedeck or the Miata first. You can see what my choice was!

Cut and threaded 2 inch rod for hydraulic cylinder. My friend is in that business and was in a bind. Thinking this is my post retirement gig but time will tell.

Nothing in the shop last night, I ended up shoveling and blowing that white **** off my driveways and shop approach. Yuck!!!

Mike.
Well you guys obviously didn't keep it all for yourselves because we woke up in Colorado to 5"-6" in Denver instead of the guessed 1-2.
