Re: My "Shop"

Be been working on some accessories for my welding carts. The other night I did give you a peek into my plans with this.
2097561c003091d75a1bb5a9fe126f59.jpg
Well I had idea also of making a slat type welding table. The material I recycled for garage door openers.
99b33df289d251583936381447f4c002.jpg
It's a t style track that I thought would work for my slats. I made a small top to fit top shelf of my welding cart. Here it is all tacked together.

538b9748cd8d40ccc3f1b94eda2832ca.jpg
I made the slats just wide enough to fit the biggest clap I would use.
f2a1fa202539641fc9527e5c18ce6178.jpg
But really I would be using something like this.
245f743197836088af58ae086dd5b4f1.jpg
This is definitely fitting my smaller and portable theme. When I'm done I take top off and store in below.
26eaa05916818c90fdea679958a99bf4.jpg
One other addition is holders for ground and gun. Here I used simple aluminum c clamps.
6f0d4e1802bd3cd066351f1ef8ddcda7.jpg

This table is gonna be great to wheel out and use with easy set up and disassembly. Here it is ready to roll away.

Well just when you thought this post was over "SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND.

Yep I also built a full size version. The size of this one is 24 x 42. I havnt decided yet if making it bigger or not that's why sides are long.
55526b462d88c483893a257ee9b5249d.jpg
I can add one slat to each side if I choose. I built this just as a rigid top that I can use anywhere.
I can make adapter to fit it here.

Or do this.
79bdb19fa0b8521fae52c707f9b2bce0.jpg
Or best part is I take top and put it in truck with welder and take it anywhere. Best part is I can easily put carts back.
99c1ba03e219b6b0422d37157dc235c7.jpg
And top gets stored where????? Damn it where the hell am I gonna put it?????? LOL here's a good spot.

Somebody has been busy. You can try out your portable table by going to the Asylum and welding up Shopnuts lathe table.

YES SIR! A lot going on. If I go there he might take my welder and throw me in the padded room. It's not on the plans but hear rumors of it.

Great idea with that slat style top and versatile ways of using it on a cart or between carts. With such a good work surface and handy welding carts you're gonna have to do a lot more welding now. Too nice to leave in storage.

Thank you, I built the small one just for that purpose. It's easy to break out in use. The bigger one is for the bigger projects for more layout room and to set up jigs. In fact I had to build the bigger one for my next project. It's been in my head for a long time but I needed a welding table to do it. Actually, I should have built it before I built the carts. They are as good as you can get building them on the floor without a jig basically using a square and a tape.

The bigger slat table I have couple of ideas for it in terms placement. Those ideas will work themselves out with trail and error. First all the steel I have left ( which is stock is lower than I like ) is being used for my next project so any left over will go to few ideas I have for its permanent place down the road.

Those are great looking welding tables! I may have to add that to my list of future projects.

And I found another tray. Funny thing Is I never seen first one (gray) until I found It. Then I find almost same exact one in red.

Today wife had the laminator out for some work projects and got a idea. I started a social group awhile back and recently changed name and it really seems to be heading in a good direction. I wanted some artwork of the group to hang up.

Was thinking today I haven't seen much from Gerard's garage for a while. Turns out I'd hit unsubscribe somehow on the damn iPad. Sorry man.

So now got the last few pages caught up. Nice welding bench accessories. I like the bridge between the two carts. That might work on the twin benches I'm building at the moment for larger projects ;)

Did you conquer the nut/bolt/screw sorting ? Might have to go and check I did't miss a post on it.

Cheers GB.

Hey, thanks for stopping by. I really havnt done much as of late as least nothing picture worthy. I havnt been able to put any of the new welding stuff to use either. I been spending some time thinking options for some ideas. If I stay the road I'm on I'll build the project I planned. If I go with new idea I won't have room for it. My idea is to find something to do with big cabinet ( on left ) and stuff inside. I also looking for another tall 5 drawer ( on right ) for the right price.
c79c950325dced4ea2ffb82d6643f3f3.jpg

I made some progress sorting hardware to point I can put in under the bench.

c30b9f0d7aa26bf42cb879f654258796.jpg

So once I get that done and make that space available it will give me some time to think about options, what I can find for cabinets, toolboxes, and places to put things.

Friends of ours just bought a local Go Cart place. The train is actually a 24HP craftsman mower with the train body attached. It pulls 3 cars behind it to give parents and kids rides around the property. The previous owners beat the hell out of it and broke some of the mounts that attach the body to the mower. So ifs here for all new mounts for the body. The new owners only bought place only a month ago and already doing great things. Feels good to helping them out.

That's pretty neat. I'll bet the kids love having rides in that. Nice of you to help them out with the repair.

You could always crank down on the governor screw and swap a couple pulleys around while you have it. That'll give the little engine that could a bit more pep. LOL

I drove it the other night has a few issues with the clutch but man it has some torque. I pulled the big wheelie first time I let the clutch out. LOL.

Hey, cool little Craftman Train!

It was great meeting you over at the Garlit's Museum and getting to chat with you a bit about garage life. Thanks for setting that up. Its also comforting to know there are other people out there crazy enough to rearrange their entire garage with the purchase of just one new cabinet! :)

Keep up the great work! Hopefully you are surviving all those Christmas deliveries.

Hey Gerard, I've just realised that I haven't commented on your thread in many months  , but I have been following faithfully - I'm amazed that I didn't even say anything about those fantastic trolleys/welding table arrangement.

Anyway, I'll try to amend my poor behaviour and comment more often.

I hope that you and your family have a Merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Thanks, we'll never received email back on the CL ad and guessing he sold it. It was rough too but at $35 it was worth a chance even if I didn't make room for it just yet.
