It seems so sad that the Bronco that you & your daughter spent so much time on,that also took you away from the Eco bost is being sold. Not saying it isn't the right thing to do, just sad. IMO. But it is great to hear from you & the windshield looks nice! Best of luck with your health, Merry Christmas.

Circumstances did not allow her to keep it. Had the fuel pump not failed on her trip to MN it would most likely have been a different story.

yes, that ws looks great. bet it will make it more fun to drive, especially now that it is winter. (even tho you don't get much).

jim

Thanks! Winter has kicked in, a bit of drizzle and cloudy.

So glad to see you posting again TW!

Tks!

^^^^^
Me2 TW,

Hope you're well and that you have a good holiday.

Tks!

Is he a GJ member? If not, how did you advertise it? eBay, Craigslist, or ??? Just curious; the truck really came out well, and it's not always easy to convey that to a potential buyer. Hope you got top dollar for it.

Scott

Put it on local Craigslist for about a week. Buyer was from ND.

Pics by text and a few phone calls. I stored it for over a month until he could make a family trip down for Christmas.

He said it was much much better than he had imagined.

EcoProject UPDATE:

Friend stopped by today and lended a hand on EcoProject. Managed to get bumper actually mounted. I do plan on getting rid of the visible bolt heads, will grind them down and weld. For now it will do the trick.

Actually moved it from where it has been sitting for months to in front of door.

Hoping to drive by Christmas day. But, of course forecast is rain . .

Still a few things to do but I could drive it as is now.

Trying to go thru everything and double and triple check stuff.

Need to also install door latch on drivers side so I do not have to hang on to it like the last drive.

Should be totally road legal now.

Really sorry to hear about your health issues. You and this thread have been inspirational to all GJ members, and we all hope you are on the mend.

I've got a quick question about the F100...why'd you put the windshield in before painting the truck?

Looking good Randy. That front bumper is so badass

Thanks Robert! My first time modding a bumper . .

TW, That truck is Priceless!

Walt

Thanks Walt!

Good, it was certainly worth it. Wish I could have swung it.

Glad to hear you back on the forum.

Let it go for 12,500 I think it would have brought much more if I had put it on ebay. Just did not have the energy to do that

Thanks a lot!

Only reason for installing the windshield is I want to drive it for a bit to see how it all works out. Get any bugs out or find if any changes need to be made prior to tearing it down for paint. In AZ its gotta have a windshield to be road legal. Supposed to have wipers too but not sure If I will get that done now.

I hope to put at least 500 miles on it for the fun factor and to see If I can meet my MPG goals. Long ago I said I would like to see 25 MPG @ 60 MPH
Closer to 30 MPG @ 55 MPH.

Also might end up finishing the 427 Truck prior to the EcoProject.

It will be 16yrs of ownership on the 427 Project Feb 1st 2016. Starting to worry about the never fired 482 sitting so long.

Comparo on stock bumper vs my modified bumper. Stock ones just stick out too far.

Bumper is probably back 1" or so. I also changed the curve so it fits the valance better.

Really wanting to go for a test drive out on the road vs around the block . . .

Maybe I should do that now . . .

On EcoProject I took some masking tape and painted it black then used it for blocking out the vertical bars in grille. Just for something different. What do all think about the look?
Stock is like the Ranger grille with the upper portion blacked out.

I am going to have to sell one more of my '66 Trucks to keep moving on the Eco & 427 Projects.

Would love to restore the F250 Ranger but not so sure I will be able to anymore. May have to hang up the garage hat after the current 2.

I did bring some pieces to the machine shop to build an engine for the Ranger thinking I would drop current engine into the light blue '66 and sell it. Just not sure where the time and energy will come from much less the $$. The engine is out of the light blue '66 right now so its gotta have a engine to sell . . decisions, decisions . .LOL

Just a thought on the front bumper- I think it would look 100% better if the narrow ends of the existing rectangular opening were curved/rounded to match the driving lights.

‘Twas the night before Christmas when all through the garage A 50yr old Ford was anxious and bored

The wiring was hung by zip ties with care, Twin Turbo’s started spooling sucking in the Midnight Air.

With me asleep in my favorite easy chair, just dreaming of actually growing some hair.

When out near the garage, I heard this loud whistling and clatter, the garage door starts to open and bright lights do appear.

I jump up and open the sliding back door, and what do I see is 400 horses or more & not a single Reindeer.

255/55-18 Tires are up in smoke, This is when I realized that this was no joke, the entire backyard was becoming engulfed in tire smoke.

When all of a sudden with a blink of an eye I see this 50 year old pickup actually start to fly.

At this time I am thinking I should give all 400 horses a medal when I realize its actually my foot, on the gas pedal.

I started thinking I should really slow down when what does appear but a blinking red light in my rear view mirror.

Turns out it was only the 3rd brake light blinking at me.

I pull into the driveway without making a sound, thinking, I cannot wait for the next go-around!

It seems the fuel injectors were the clatter, any health issues now don’t really matter.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a Good Night!

Thanks to all for following the story.

A few pics taken a couple hours ago. My Christmas present was to be able to get the truck going today. Thanks to friends who showed up yesterday and today it was finally able to happen.

I actually put a few miles on it today . .

More later but now its time to spend some time with family.

Thanks All!

A bit of an update. Drove it a bit more but an interesting find is prior to driving the door gap to fender on drivers side was a bit large and off, passenger side was very tight.

After a few miles its now the complete opposite. Things are settling and moving around a bit. Nightmare to try to get things aligned working on my own.

Friend (56 mel) stopped by and I decided to check trucks weight bias as have a M A J O R traction issue . . LOL

As it sits ready to drive: (nearly identical to original weight test, added some took off some)

68DC0B07-896B-40B7-98F6-1ED06522CEAD.jpg

Current as in pic its 3811 which is quite heavy in my opinion.

To give an idea on final curb weight I weighed the 8' box. It came in at 262 lbs less the floor. I estimate the floor to be around 100.00 lbs

9170D62E-93D7-44C4-8403-FA0D12BFDEDC.jpg

That would bring weight up to 4173 lbs with floor. Add the rest of interior, tailgate, rear bumper & fuel and it appears it will be a very heavy truck around 4650 lbs estimated.

add 800 lbs of welding rod . . . LOL

Curb weight of 4650 will be a bit more than first estimated but if it does 10lbs per HP it should still be a load of fun.

So far have not dared to "open it up" or go full throttle as a real handful to drive.

Just 25% throttle will induce wheel spin. 70+ (freeway speed) it seemed like it was cutting out until I realized the traction control was coming on . .

Still trying to sort things out and adjust cab and front clip around making sure all will fit. I have not finished the inner structure it only has a few tack welds and a few self taping screws.

Because of the major traction issue I decided to fit the box now rather than later so I ordered a new pair of wheel houses for the box. Not sure if I will re-use the stock floor or use the new floor I had ordered long ago and have on hand. It may come down to a weight difference. At a current weight of just over 3800 lbs it scoots pretty good.

Just a thought on the front bumper- I think it would look 100% better if the narrow ends of the existing rectangular opening were curved/rounded to match the driving lights.

At this point not much is finalized. The bumper opening was made as large as possible with a plasma cutter. Needs proper detail and it will be easy to change should I decide to make it curved/rounded to match.

The rest of bumper will stay as is except for making the bolt heads disappear.
opening still sleeping on that . . Appreciate the input!

If I look at ends off all the grill slots they are square.

Not sure it will look correct to add something in the middle like the V on upper portion of grille.

Maybe if I just add a bit more radius . . Its all open for now until I finalize other things.

My major mess at this point is what to do with all the wiring inside.
