There are two empty spots in my socket trays and these two are the cause. I know I'll probably never even use such a large socket on a 1/4" ratchet but I still have the overwhelming need to have them anyway. I've been searching and can't find any. Does anybody know where I could buy some to complete my set? Thanks!

I pulled up a SK catalog and they only go to 15mm in deep and 9/16" in deep SAE.

Only because this topic about people with OCD needing to fill a Hansen peg has come up several times before. Zoro carries the Westward brand part #10E874 gets you a 1/4 drive 16mm deep 6 point socket while part # 10E864 gets you a 1/4 drive deep 5/8 6 point socket. Bothe will set you back less than $5 plus shipping so don't expect more than a peg holder

Heh, I'm curious what trays, too...
Zoro/Grainger have the 1/4" drive 5/8" in 6pt/12pt shallow and deep.
I never thought to look for a 16mm, since my 1/4" trays only go to 15mm.

A jig saw or a cut off wheel will modify the tray easily and you won't need to have those unicorn sockets. I cut all my 3/8 drive down to 7/8. Could have gone smaller but I stopped there cause the tray fit in the drawer at this length lol.
I do have a 3.8 6.3 6.5 and a 7.5 1/4 drive shallows they will never make a peg for haha.

Are you sure you're not looking for 15mm instead of 16mm? Never seen any trays with 16mm.

You guys with OCD are looking at this the wrong way. Are you trying to organize YOUR tools, or are you trying to set up a display of someone elses? Do you not like to drive your car if you don't have people to sit in all the other seats? I love to buy tools, but buying tools just to sit on the peg of a socket holder is crazy. If you don't want to shorten your trays, maybe black out the sizes of the ones you won't use or shorten the studs a little and use the open spot to store duplicates or whatever.

I have an S-K 5/8" deep in 1/4" drive I picked up at a flea market. my tray doesn't go that high so I have the opposite problem. they are out there, just keep looking...I've never seen any other brand in that size though.

Snip the pegs off of your socket tray with a pair of diagonal cutters.

Maybe there's another way to be OCD here.
Let's say I owned a 1970 SS454 Chevelle convertible (which, actually, is one of the few non-Camarostangs I've had). A person could take the factory assembly manual, make a list of every connector in the car, and buy a full set of wrenches/sockets for just those sizes. Add some pliers, a couple of hammers, 2-3 screwdrivers.
Then you put the whole deal into a small hand carry box, and call it done.
Seriously, I wonder how many sockets and wrenches bought in sets ever get used by people at home.

Happened to be looking this up the other night while trying to decide between two SK 1/4" dr sets (48pc vs. 60pc). One set had 16mm and 5/8", but the cheaper one didn't but had a small thumb ratchet. HJE has standard sockets:
5/8" 6pt std SK40920
16mm 6pt std SK40715
Looks like they don't carry deep sockets in these sizes though. Now I remember that the other two sockets I had in my list were standard and deep 4.5mm.

I happened to have a 15mm snap on only because I bought the set and it included it. I never bothered to buy a 15mm deep nor do I intend to
The two 5/8 blue point sockets were maybe 2 bux each
The Hansen trays also go ridiculously small in the 3/8 size. I cut those pegs off and on occasion I lay a different socket or two in there or an estranged crack pipe...lol

It was a long-winded way to say that if you're a specialist hobbyist (let's say 1960's Chevrolets), you really don't need large sets of much of anything. Just buy what you need and it'll all fit in a small container.

Consider shortening the pegs just below where the size is marked instead of cutting off completely. Or consider running the whole tray thru the bandsaw, shortening it up, did that with some Kobalt trays.

I have a proto 5/8 and 15mm in 1/4 drive. I used the 15mm twice to remove nut that holds metal Heater hose line in front of gm 3.1v6. Low torque big nut. Used the 15 on the lower intake manifold job and on the timing cover job. Both times for metal line that runs in front of motor.

Not sure with 16mm sockets, but the 5/8 is good for Chevy/Delco starter solenoids. The 1/4" ratchet is smaller and will fit into tighter places and I find it harder to over-tighten that solenoid nut with a 1/4 drive ratchet over a 3/8 ratchet.

The guy at Hansen who designed those trays is probably having a good laugh.
they are near identical. only four thousandths seperate the two the 16mm being the larger.

No way in those sizes on the Craftsman. Craftsman never offered those sizes in 1/4" drive.
I'm nearly 100% USA Craftsman but those two sizes in 1/4 drive I got from SK.
And SK (currently) only offers those sizes (16mm and 5/8") in 6 point shallow.

I can get you one tomorrow. Blue point 5/8" deep 1/4" drive. Snap on shallow 5/8" 1/4" drive. Matco 15mm deep 1/4" drive. Idk what the shallow 15mm is. I'll have to look. Use the deep all the time though.

Autozone even sells the 15mm shallow and deep...
I just use metal rails... Added the 15/32 and 17/32 socket on the rail...
All my current sockets are made by SK. They don't make the sockets I'm asking for though.

So far Westward is the only brand I've seen that has these sizes in deep and shallow, 6pt and 12pt.
Some brands have one or two of those, but not all of them.
